About Bitten's SpellFlash: DK

This module flashes suggested spells for all three DK specs. You can find *lots* more information on its website.

If you download using the Curse Client it will come with everything you need. If you download your addons manually, you must also get SpellFlash.

Bitten's SpellFlash modules replace Blizzard's default proc highlighting to flash the button you should press next to achieve maximum dps on a boss fight. Or if you are a tank, to maximize your survivability. For healers, they are just slightly smarter proc highlighters. Dps modules follow or are similar to priority schemes found in SimulationCraft and/or Icy Veins. Sometimes you have to be smarter than SpellFlash, e.g. when saving a cooldown for a specific boss mechanic, but in general following the recommendations will improve most people's performance.

Some modules have AoE modes. Check the descriptions of each rotation to see if one is available for the spec(s) you use.

  • Frost: Added an option to switch to a Mastersimple rotation. See the website for (a few) more details.

  • Blood: Adjusted some flashing for Rune Strike when you take Runic Corruption, to waste less Runic Power in certain situations.
  • Blood: Death and Decay flashes when in AoE mode, it is free, and your diseases have plenty of time left.
  • Blood: Bugfix - Smoothed out a quirk having to do with the Runic Power granted by Blood Boil.
  • Blood: Bugfix - one of the Rune Strike priorities was firing at the wrong time.

  • Frost: Updated the dual-wield rotation (because there is much more haste on gear now).

  • Blood: Higher-priority disease applications are now based on Weakened Blows, rather than Blood Plague.

    HI!

    First of all id like to thank you for your great work on these addons. My dps has risen a lot since i started using them.

    Now i have a question. For DK's it seems that the horn of winter keep flashing even when it's already been cast. Any reason for this?

    Thanks!  Horn of Winter is used for the 10 runic power it grants.

    By the way, are you going to add a 2h rotation for Frost?  I know the 2h rotation is fairly easy, but I would use it just to maintain my diseases.  I can't use the current Frost rotation as it's made for DW and flashes Frost Strike to us the KM procs...

    Yes, I would like to add a rotation for 2H Frost.  See the FAQ for more info as I update more rotations.

    Will you be adding anything for Soul Reaper in your next update? Like to check target health percentage and then reccommend Soul Reaper if it's at 35% or less and a frost rune is available? Or is there a simple line of code we can add to the lua?

    Yes, I would like to add that.  I would like to add all the over-level-85 abilities to all my modules.  The good news for you is, my main is my DK it will likely happen sooner than other classes.

    So I was testing my rotation on Ultrax LFR and it seems I do better dps using a modified version of the pre-patch rotation, which was, in short, priorotizing Obliterate over Howling Blast but using all KM procs for Frost Strike being DW.  This performed better than the suggested priorities flashed by this SpellFlash module for DK's, which seems to be the Masterfrost priority.  What I would like to see in this module is the option to create custom rotations and flashes.  This is an amazing addon for people like me, who constantly forget to reapply Plague Strike or don't see that I'm RP capped.

    Thank you for the constructive comment.  The rotation currently is very close to what EJ recommends for dual-wielding frost dks.  Yes, it is similar to masterfrost.  They say an OB rotation is better for a frost DK wielding a 2 handed weapon.

    When I have a chance to revisit this I will definitely look into simming out what you say.  Perhaps the EJ information is not accurate until level 90.

    I figured it out!  It was because when I created the macro, I was choosing the actual Scourge Strike icon instead of leaving it blank and letting the #showtooltip choose the icon itself.  It looks like if you choose any icon rather than the ? it will not flash.

    That would come with the ability to create custom rotations - but don't expect it anytime soon.

    Although this was not without straying from the flashed suggestions to prioritize Death Coil to get my Dark Transformation up.  I also noticed that the suggestions do not save runic power to anticipate the end of DT to maintain it's uptime.  Without doing these two things, and strictly following the flashes, my dps was considerably low.

    Yeah I was surprised to see that simulations showed NOT saving RP was a dps gain.  It was surprising, yet nothing else I tried could improve the rotation you see flashing.  If you know how to do Simulationcraft, please feel free to come up with a better rotation!  Or maybe there is some kind of bug in simc and a future version will straighten things out.
