About Bitten's SpellFlash: Druid

This module flashes suggested spells for all four Druid specs. You can find *lots* more information on its website.

If you download using the Curse Client it will come with everything you need. If you download your addons manually, you must also get SpellFlash.

Please see the FAQ before posting a question. If that doesn't address your issue, or you have a suggestion to improve this addon, please either leave a comment or create a ticket.

Bitten's SpellFlash modules replace Blizzard's default proc highlighting to flash the button you should press next to achieve maximum dps on a boss fight. Or if you are a tank, to maximize your survivability. For healers, they are just slightly smarter proc highlighters. Dps modules follow or are similar to priority schemes found in SimulationCraft, Icy Veins, and/or Elitist Jerks. Sometimes you have to be smarter than SpellFlash, e.g. when saving a cooldown for a specific boss mechanic, but in general following the recommendations will improve most people's performance.

The descriptions of each rotation moved to the website for Bitten's SpellFlash.

Version 3.1.0

  • Feral: Added an AoE rotation.
  • Feral: Added predictive flashing for Maul if it will be available just before swapping to Cat Form.
  • Feral: Played around with Bear Form and its abilities against trivial mobs.
  • Feral & Guardian: Other spells will no longer get confused when Maul is queued.
  • Guardian: Rage predictions account for 4pT15 (very minor impact on flashing).

Version 3.0.0

  • Balance: Added Nature's Vigil.
  • Balance & Feral: Added Renewal.
  • Feral: Bugfix - Do not flash Thrash(Bear Form) if its bleed is already up.
  • Feral: Bugfix - The no-Shred list had an issue.
  • Guardian: Small green flashes are now used to show you which spell will be next when waiting for one to come off cooldown.
  • Guardian: Added Bone Shield and Elusive Brew (Symbiosis abilities).
  • Guardian: Added Berserk and Incarnation as mitigation cooldowns.
  • Guardian: Tweaked the priority of the other survival cooldowns a little.
  • Guardian: Added Swipe and an extra Thrash priority when in AoE mode.
  • Guardian: Calculations for Frenzied Regeneration (unglyphed) are now exact.
  • Guardian: Frenzied Regeneration and Savage Defense can now flash when the other is up if you have at least 90 rage.
  • Guardian: Unglyphed Frenzied Regeneration can now flash even when you are not tanking.
  • Guardian: Maul is flashed more freely when you are not tanking.
  • Restoration: Added flashing for Restoration.

Version 2.10.0

  • Feral: More rotation tweaks.
  • Feral: Add Azure Serpent to the list of things not to shred.
  • Feral: Bugfix - Heart of the Wild was not flashing.

Version 2.9.4

  • Feral: Bugfix - fixed a typo that caused spam in the chat window when you have stacks of Dream of Cenarius.

Version 2.9.3

  • Feral: Slight adjustment to Rake.

Version 2.9.2-beta

  • Feral: Added Shu Hi to the no-Shred list (a quest mob).

Version 2.9.1-beta

  • Feral: Added Heart of the Wild.
  • Feral: Updated/improved energy prediction.

  • Guardian: Now skips some mitigation-only abilities & uses more Mauls when solo with more than 50% health.
  • Guardian: Added flashing for Healing Touch out of combat when solo.

Version 2.9.0-beta

  • Balance: Added Healing Touch when solo and you could use the heal.
  • Feral: Completely re-did the rotation.

Version 2.8.0

NOTE: This version includes a new version of Bitten's SpellFlash Library that I tried to test well, but if you find any issues please let me know right away.

  • Balance: Updated Moonfire/Sunfire priorities for a slight dps gain.
  • Balance: Starfall is now held to line up with Incarnation if applicable (a dps gain).
  • Balance: Incarnation stops flashing once you start moving toward the next eclipse.

Version 2.7.1

  • Feral: Bugfix - Savage Roar was not flashing when glyphed. The rotation needs work when it's glyphed, but at least it flashes now.

Version 2.7.0

NOTE: Your options will be reset when you upgrade to this version.

  • Repackaging so that Bitten's SpellFlash Library is included with the addon, instead of downloaded separately.
  • Several other internal changes.
  • Guardian: Mangle with Soul of the Forest now grants 10 rage, instead of 7.

Version 2.4.4

  • Making the "Out of Date" status go away. Please report any real issues w/ the new patch.

Version 2.4.3

  • Balance & Resto: Workaround for a bug in the Blizzard UI that sometimes reports the wrong cast time for a spell.
  • Bear: Will immediately consider Lacerate as a priority when you cast Pulverize (slight improvement last release, but now it's totally fixed).
  • Bear: Checks for the required talents before flashing for Infected Wounds.
  • Bear: Bugfix - will no longer flash Berserk for the second between Pulverize going up and Lacerate being consumed.

    Hi,

When in Guardian, and single target, Faerie Fire keeps flashing as part of the rotation (over Feral Defence) when already applied to the target.

(and thank you for a VERY useful addon for an altoholic!)

  • #147

Faerie Fire is a part of the normal rotation because it does damage.  If by "Feral Defense" you mean "Savage Defense", then the two will never interefere with each other, because Savage Defense is not on the global cooldown.  See all the details of the priority scheme here.

Curious why Nature's Vigil is not included in rotation?

  • #142

In which rotation?  It should be included in Feral.  It is not included in Guardian because it's pretty discretionary.  Balance ... yeah I suppose it should included there.  I'll get that into the next release.

<Edit:> It is now included in the Balance rotation as well.

That is answered in the 2nd sentence of the description above.  Also in the FAQ.

I as wondering if its working as intended that I am never told to use Shred. Even when I dont have aggro on the mob it still flashes Mangle, when it used to flash for Shred.

  • #137

The latest rotation only uses Shred when your energy regen is above 15/second.  Simulations show higher dps using Mangle to generate more CP until energy regen gets high (at least in some gear, including top-end gear).

Fair enough :) ty for the info :D

  • #132

Not sure if this is from SpellFlash or your Druid module, but I'm receiving the following chat window spam pretty much whenever I hit Mangle in Feral spec (either bear or cat form, possibly whenever the module is supposed to flash mangle):

No spell defined (or no ID attribute): Mange(Bear Form)

Disabling SpellFlash make the error stop. Error only shows up in Feral spec; it is not present in Guardian spec

  • #133

Oops!  Sorry about that.  I didn't notice it because it only happens when you have Dream of Cenarius.  Fixed.

I got this error in-game when using the addon, not sure if it is yours or spellflashes core.

    Date: 2013-04-04 12:50:48
    ID: 49
    Error occured in: AddOn: SpellFlash
    Count: 6
Message: Note: AddOn SpellFlash attempted to call a protected function (MultiBarBottomLeft:Show()) during combat lockdown.

<Remaining error text snipped by Bitten to avoid clutter.>

Also, I noticed that it doesn't flash for mangle in bear form at all when mangle is good to use since it generates rage and costs none plus does damage. And is there any way for it to detect if you are so far away in distance from the mob and suggest to use Wild Charge if you are far enough away from the mob when you have it selected?

(I think my last comment didn't post... Don't really want to type that up again but I guess I will try...)

My last post mentioned me asking if you could swap the Tiger's Fury, Berserk, Survival Instincts, Barkskin, and Incarnation around (As in change them so that Survival Instincts and Barkskin flashes when you are about to die instead of glows red and Tiger's Fury, Berserk, and Incarnation just glows red throughout the fight as more of a recommended but not required thing to do), since they don't really fit on trash mobs since usually you should save those for later more tough mobs. Along with, Healing touch flashes too early and could be switched to rejuvenation when you lose little life instead of healing touch off the bat at the beginning of the fight. Then when you start to die, it could flash the healing touch, survival instincts, and barkskin when you are in trouble. Also, it doesn't seem to notice if you have the Cenarion Ward talent, and use that to your advantage.

    Sorry for the long post, it's just my opinion from observations and just trying to give a little bit of some constructive critique/help. ^^;
