About Bitten's SpellFlash: Druid

This module flashes suggested spells for all four Druid specs. You can find *lots* more information on its website.

If you download using the Curse Client it will come with everything you need. If you download your addons manually, you must also get SpellFlash.

Bitten's SpellFlash modules replace Blizzard's default proc highlighting to flash the button you should press next to achieve maximum dps on a boss fight. Or if you are a tank, to maximize your survivability. For healers, they are just slightly smarter proc highlighters. Dps modules follow or are similar to priority schemes found in SimulationCraft and/or Icy Veins. Sometimes you have to be smarter than SpellFlash, e.g. when saving a cooldown for a specific boss mechanic, but in general following the recommendations will improve most people's performance.

Some modules have AoE modes. Check the descriptions of each rotation to see if one is available for the spec(s) you use.

Version 50400.2.5

  • The future of Bitten's SpellFlash: Druid is in question. I no longer wish to maintain this addon, starting with patch 6.0. If you are interested in taking it over, keeping up with optimal rotations, and you have programming skills, please leave a comment or PM on Curse.

  • Feral: The beta rotation considers whether overwriting a bleed may increase its damage.
  • Feral: The beta rotation might play nice with Rune of Re-Origination ... untested.

  • Balance: Smoothed out some quirkiness in the flashing.

  • Balance: Don't refresh DoTs early when their Eclipse is not up (should be a dps gain).
  • Guardian: Don't flash Thrash at its higher priority for Weakened Blows when in damage mode.

  • Guardian: Damage mode is now linked with the hidden option to toggle it in groups (see the website for more info).
  • Guardian: Berserk and Incarnation are now top priority cooldowns in damage mode.
  • Guardian: Might of Ursoc is now only used for its heal; other cooldowns may now flash while it is up.
  • Guardian: Frenzied Regeneration no longer flashes when its buff is already up (from the glyph).

Version 3.2.2

  • Feral: Improved the condition to switch back to Cat Form when Rip is expiring.
  • Restoration: Healing Touch and Regrowth now flash small when neither Harmony nor Clearcasting are up.

  • Restoration: Added flashing for Wild Mushroom.

  • All except Restoration: Forms now flash before entering combat, when you have an enemy targeted.

    I have tried schemes like these for healers, and I just cannot get happy with that sort of thing.  That's why all my healing modules have turned into little more than fancy proc hilighters.  There is a lot more decision making that goes into spell selection for healers than tanks or dps.  For example, on Ultraxion I rarely worried about keeping 3 stacks of Lifebloom on anybody because it was too hard to keep refreshed as people phased in & out.  On Madness I would delay Swiftmend if people were going to be running to a new spot soon (for maximum use of Effloresence).  

    My main was my Resto Druid until 1/2 way through this patch.  FYI, at 85 and with some decent gear Healing Touch was the only spell I used if a single target was dropping low on health.  Everything else was pre-emptive HoTs (keep lifebloom rolling of course, Wild Growth & Swiftmend on cooldown if people had any raid damage at all, and Rejuvenation for anybody and everybody that took spot damage).  But even at 85 I didn't start healing that way, because I didn't have enough mana to support it.

    So anyway, my point is that I cannot nail down a healing "rotation" to flash.  It's just too dependant on the encounter and on your gear.

    (i was just talking about 5 man instances, but i guess it would not work as well in 10+ raids)

    Mark of the Wild no longer flashes if someone in your party/raid doesn't have the buff (including yourself).

    Ah yes - that's my bad.  I discovered that this morning but then got side tracked.  I'll release a fix shortly - sorry!

    WHen does this mod become useful?  Does it really require level 85 or is it smart enough to know what the possible rotations are at lower levels?

    Since your update of BittensSpellFlashLibrary-2.13.0, you get 2 errors with the druid one

     

    Interface\AddOns\BittensSpellFlash_Druid\Spells.lua:11: attempt to call field 'Init' (a nil value)

    Interface\AddOns\BittensSpellFlash_Druid\Scripts.lua:8: attempt to call field 'Flash' (a nil value)

    2.13.0 is old.  I made a mistake and it was treated as the latest release for a little while this morning.  3.3.2 is actually the latest release and should be treated as such if you download again, or refresh your list in the Curse Client.

    The best suggestion I can offer is to install the Curse Client and use that to download & install your addons with one click (and then updating them will also be just as easy).  If for some reason you don't want to do that I guess you could google something like "how to install wow addon".

    I have version 1.0.1 of Druid module

    when in combat, the spell Feral Charge flashes constantly - even though I am in melee range

    That is to remind you to run out of melee range & charge back in, to activate Stampede.  There is a new version coming very soon that will make sure you actually have the Stampede talent first (among many other improvements).
