About Bitten's SpellFlash: Monk

This module flashes suggested spells for all three Monk specs. You can find *lots* more information on its website.

If you download using the Curse Client it will come with everything you need. If you download your addons manually, you must also get SpellFlash.

Please see the FAQ before posting a question. If that doesn't address your issue, or you have a suggestion to improve this addon, please either leave a comment or create a ticket.

Bitten's SpellFlash modules replace Blizzard's default proc highlighting to flash the button you should press next to achieve maximum dps on a boss fight. Or if you are a tank, to maximize your survivability. For healers, they are just slightly smarter proc highlighters. Dps modules follow or are similar to priority schemes found in SimulationCraft and/or Icy Veins. Sometimes you have to be smarter than SpellFlash, e.g. when saving a cooldown for a specific boss mechanic, but in general following the recommendations will improve most people's performance.

Some modules have AoE modes. Check the descriptions of each rotation to see if one is available for the spec(s) you use.

These are excellent points.  Thank you.  I have added Breath of Fire when in damage mode, both single target and AoE.  While I was at it, I also adjusted Jab so it doesn't pool energy quite so high when in damage mode.

I did not (yet?) look into making aoe mode work better at low levels.  I may do that at some point, but no promises.

I have not yet released these changes.  I'm in the middle of some work with a couple other addons that share some common code with my SpellFlash modules, so I want to make sure I have everything set before making updates to any of them.

<Edit:> These changes are now live.

Thanks for the quick changes. Seem to work good.

AoE (damage) mode doesn't really work yet, because it turns off all non AoE flashing. It doesn't even flash Tiger Palm then. ;)

But using non AoE Damage mode works a treat for my lv thirty-something char, since the AoE rotation is the same anyway  (Keg -> Tiger Palm -> Jab -> Fire -> Filler -> rince and repeat).

    Great stuff, thanks!

Any chance to get a databroker to switch AoE mode (and maybe the other hidden options) conveniently?

Could we get an option never to flash Flying Serpent Kick?

Love the change to small flash on FSK. I had commented out FSK totally before. This is much better.

  • #69

I can make it flash smaller, like I did for Warriors' Heroic Leap.  That makes sense, because often your target does not have a large enough hit box to use it.

Would it be possible to set A shuffle buff minimum time? What I mean is BoK flashes till the suffle buff is like 20 sec, then flash TP or something else?

Sometimes I get stunned, knocked down, etc. and am unable to BoK before the suffle buff fades if I follow the spell flash. Haveing it set so low is really bad for how imprortant the shuffle buff is. It'd be really good if I could set a "buffer zone." That way I won't have to worry about it fadeing till I can BoK again, due to various encounter mechanics.

This is a great suggestion.  Instead of an option to specify a minimum time, though, I'd like to try making it add to Shuffle once you reach max chi no matter how much time is left.  That should give a decent compromise between stacking shuffle yet still having Chi available for Purify and Guard.  I'll release that in a beta for you to test.  Let me know what you think.

<Edit:> Curse seems to be having some trouble packaging new versions right now.  Hopefully the beta will be available soon-ish.

<Edit:> The beta is now available.

<Edit:> And now it is in full release.

That works well. On raid boss fights I was able to keep at least 15 to 20 secs on shuffle as a minimum. I did notice some "wasted" chi.

I have assention so I have 5 chi. I'd have 4 chi and it'd tell me to Keg smash. Then it'd tell me to BoK because I maxed out chi. IMO, it's up to the player to determain what to do at that point.

It's not perfect, but what truly is? Works well for my needs. Now I'm not always "fighting" what it's telling me.

I still think setting a minimum shuffle time would be good. Especially for the start of a fight.

    Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback.  I'm going to work on it some more to waste less Chi and less Energy.  I expect the next release with those changes will be soon.

<Edit:> That next release did come soon.  It is now released.

I updated the add-on earlier today and I keep receiving the No spell defined (or no ID attribute): nil. Any solutions for this? Thanks in advance

Heya, I updated all your addons this evening and rcvd this error while running a 5-man dungeon a few minutes ago.  I was in Mistweaver spec at the time.

<Lua error snipped by Bitten to avoid clutter.>
