About Bloodhound
If you have Find Herbs or Find Ore switched on, this add-on displays a red arrow on the minimap. Follow it and it will lead you to herb/ore nodes. Potential node locations show as red gems on the minimap. They're transparent so that you can see actual nodes.
The arrow points in the direction of "net pull" exerted by the nodes. The longer you go without visiting a node, the stronger it pulls. Once you visit it, the pull drops back to zero and the arrow points somewhere else. This will eventually lead you everywhere, but it's a dynamically updating system, responding to where you go automatically. Closer nodes pull more strongly, so it favors nearby clusters of nodes. If you choose to ignore the arrow and go somewhere else, the arrow will adjust to your new location which means you're not on a fixed track.
This mechanism is more efficient than a fixed route that visits all nodes in order, and also allows easy cross-zone farming.
The add-on is configurable in the Interface menu under Add-ons / Bloodhound. It allows you to select whether the cross-zone feature is enabled Never, While Flying, or Always. It lists the zones in the current continent and lets you select which zones to include for the cross-zone feature. If that's disabled, it ignores nodes outside the current zone. It also lists the herbs and ore available on the current continent and lets you select the one's you're interested it. Unchecked node types don't exert any pull or show any indicator on the mini-map.
Update for Kung Fu Panda expansion. No other bug fixes.

Spoke with Osmium and I am working to update the addon. As the addon works without many bugs, the first thing I am going to be doing is updating the databases. Bugs and improvements will follow.
I'm Osmium, and I approve of this message.
Finally got some of the kinks worked out and the herb/ore databases have been updated. Please download the file here: http://www.wowace.com/addons/bloodhound2/files/
The project requires some further testing, so if you have any issues please file a ticket using the WowAce ticket system for this addon: http://www.wowace.com/addons/bloodhound2/tickets/
As of patch 5.2, May 6,2013, 3:55am eastern time........Please add an option to allow users to add items to the addon even if the users have to input the item ID themselves. So far i have discovered mageroyal is not listed and for eastern kingdoms the item ID is 785. I have both checked an addon that shows item IDs in-game as well on wowhead and both state that mageroyal is 785, but there is no 785 listed to check/uncheck for herbs in eastern kingdoms. I'm not sure at the moment if there are others but this addon is a serious time saver and would just be so much simplier if there was an option to allow users to add item IDs they discover that are not already listed. The addon npc_scan allows this option for adding npcs not installed by default nor updates. Please and thankyou in advance!!!!

If anyone Knows how to use the codes to update this addon please please take over and use it. Unfortunately I have no idea how it all works.
It is a great addon and would make life difficult with out it.
Thanks for everyone's appreciation for this add-on. I haven't played WoW in a while and currently don't have any plans to again. Although that might change some day, for now this add-on won't be updated.
If anyone wants to take the code and use it as the basis of an updated add-on, please feel free to do so.
Need to update the addon
In regards to the dark soil patches for those that may not know; if you have the herbalism profession on the toon you're using to farm with, the dark soil nodes will show on the mini map automatically as long as find herbs is enabled in the mini map search options. Been using and in love with this addon for long time now, especially since it covers both ore and herbs. Definitely a must have for any ore/herb farmer. Kudos to the developer for this addon and really hope further updating continues to keep this wonderful addon alive as patches change.
It may have been stated already, but the addon fails in certain zones with respective lua errors. The three zones I've noticed are the Kar. Wilds and the Shrine of the Whatever Moons in the vale. The addon works everywhere else. I'm guessing that Blizz updated certain zones and chaned file paths or something to make way for 5.2.
Anyway, love the mod, just isn't that useful for ghost iron atm.
Really like this addon. Would it be possible to add Dark Soil to the list?
Bump for an update to 5.2, love the addon. Thanks!
I've been using this addon for a while and here recently it stopped working now in the add-on section it shows up but when i click the tab theres nothing there on herbs or mining but on the bloodhound tab itself it shows a pull down selector but its blank aswell anyone know how to fix this? I've tried reinstalling it multiple times but nothing helps....
Will there be any update soon? There is one bug indoors in capital of Pandaria. (se front243's comment)
I also miss many nodes (Green Tea).
Can there be an integration with Gatherer or such? Import once in a while would be enough and move the DB:s to savedvariables.
Otherwise I love this addon :) TomTom integration is not something that is needed, 'cause I look at minimap all the time anyway ;) How can you see the "real" locations if you don't... (sorry livejamie)

this just lags me like hell
Agreed, the addon makes my game stutter and lag too
