About BobsToolbox

BobsToolbox

The goal of BobsToolbox is to combines all the really great and needed addons into one very efficient addon. It has everything from unit frames, group frame and even a loot frame. The great news is that each options can be enabled or disabled. This allows you to use the group frame without having to used the loot frame. You can disabled any feature that you may have another addon that fills that role.

Requirements

BobsToolbox requires the installation of the ACE3 library. BobsToolbox also optionally uses Clique for click to heal on the unit frames.

HUD Frame:

The HUD frame is the unit frames. This will contain the player and target information. The unit's health will be on the left and the mana, focus, rage, etc. will be on the right. The player's bars will be in the inside and the target's bars will be on the outside. The HUD frame has an option that will allow the health / mana bars to hide when at 100%. This allows for a very clean interface and removes all unnecessary information from the screen. Just turn off this feature if you want the bars on screen at all times. The HUD frame also will show how many people in your party / raid is targetting your target. This feature will only be enabled if you are in a party / raid. This is a great feature to have as a DPS to ensure you are targetting what the members of your party / raid is targetting. An aggro number will be listed in the top right. It will let you know your aggro status on your current target. You don't want to be pulling aggro from you tank do you? You will also see the RAID icon assigned to your target. This give you really clear indication that you are targetting "skull" when you should be.

Group Frame:

The group frame allows you to monitor your whole raid in a very small area. It also allows monitoring of the raid / party for your buffs. If someone is missing your buff then they will be missing their dots on top of their health bar. Also you can track the role and raid icons on the group frame.

Missing Buff Frame:

The missing buff frame will display your classes missing buff that are oh so important. Like for a Priest it will remind you of Inner Fire or Inner Will, Power Word: Fortitude, and Shadow Protection. If you are a Mage it will remind you of Mage Armor and Arcane Brilliance. Many other class buffs are also monitored. Please email me if you have a suggestion on adding another class. I don't play all classes so I wouldn't know I missed any.

Minimap Button Frame:

The minimap button frame will gather all the buttons off the minimap and place them all in one convent frame. This frame can then be position anywhere you would like.

Loot Frame:

The loot frame allows you to move the loot frames to a different area of the UI. This will prevent the loot frame from covering the all important group frame!

Dual Spec Settings:

BobsToolbox supports dual spec settings that allows different configuration for each spec. This would allow a Priest to hide the raid frame in shadow spec but have it enabled in holy spec. So just by changing specs, the addon would automatically hide or show the raid frame.

Zone Level Settings:

What this means is you can have custom settings per zone. So lets say you want to hide the group frame if you are in Orgrimmar. You can enter the zone then initialize the custom zone by using the "/btb addzone" command. Then configure the zone how you would like just like you would normally. Then when you leave the zone your settings will go back to the previous state. If you decide to later remove the custom setting then you can go into that zone and type the following command "/btb clearzone". Any zone without a custom setting will use the default settings.

FAQ

Q. What's is BobsToolbox?

A. BobsToolbox is an addon created by Bobby Cannon just for fun. A lot of my time spent playing WoW is actually spent working on my addon.

Q. What's with the name?

A. My name is Bobby Cannon and I play a level 80 Undead Priest named BobTehBuildr on the server Firetree. I created my addon to help me BobTehBuildr so I thought what would be a name for my set of tools. Then I thought well a set of tools go in a box and BobTehBuildr should have a toolbox so lets name the addon BobsToolbox.

Q.Why was BobsToolbox created?

A. I'm a software developer by profession so the addon capability of WoW really intrigues me so I decided to created my own.

Q. Why does BobsToolbox look a lot like other addons?

A. I know there are plenty of really great HUD, Raid Frame, and Healing mods out there but I wanted to create my own. I pulled plenty of inspiration from other mods like Ice Hud, Healbot, Shot Glass raid frames. Yes and sometimes even graphics and look. I completely respect the authors of these some of these addons and to some degree admire them. I am not trying to replace them.

Q. Are you just copying / combining other MODs?

A. See question "Why does BobsToolbox look a lot like other addons?".

I had to disable addon causing the problem.

I finally noticed the outline for threat.

Did I miss the way to enable the target of the target? Looking in options but I didn't see.

  • #35

You can type "/btb reset" and reset the settings. I thought I had fixed that. I'll look into it some more.

  • #32

Is there any way you can add a threat indicator for the group frame. I like everything about your addon. It is just missing that one thing for me. I know adding on to your program would be hard. It could be a nice challenge to do.  You would also know who in your group has threat as healer which is always nice to know on harder dungeons, Raid Finder and while tanking.

    Thanks either way,

  • #33

It has that already. If you watch if a party member is gaining threat they will get an orangish warning around the players button. If they actually have aggro it will be red. So the unit's in you party with aggro will have red warnings around their button.

Please let me know if it's not working for you. I'll see what I can do. BTW, you could always try "/btb reset" then "/script ReloadUI()".

Before, I would merely extract this download into my addons folder and heal like a pro!! I have no idea how to use this add on anymore! Why the dramatic changes? With this Ace3 and Cliques thing, I'm lost. DL'd BobsToolbox, DL'd Ace3, log in, nothing shows. The old look and easy to use options are gone.
Going to the Ace3 development page only made things worse for me.
How do I get this to work as it did for me in 1.2.6.14 (3.3.3), please?
  • #30
I have removed the "healing" code from BobsToolbox and made BobsToolbox Party Frame support Clique. Clique has a better "click to heal" interface than BobsToolbox had previously had. Their interface support more than just mouse button clicks. This is why I dropped support for spells and allowing Clique to handle that configuration.

I am working hard on getting everything updated. Please continue to check for new versions. Thank you for the kind words.

    Hi.
I have a druid moonkin and i has just wondering if you are going to continue updating this addon because it is really good.

A few sugestions you are going to continue:
1.Healing spells should be always on top of the player's name (raid or party frame).
2.you should add more key combinations to spells.I am currentlu with two spells outside your addon.Or maybe add a "clique" compatability.Or a smartcast function.
3.A icon for each class and bars activity would be nice has well (aggro indicator, highliths).

I know these are some quite bullets, but this is one of the most simple and complete players addon i have seen so far.

so, please continue developing it, because it is very good.
  • #28
I am now Clique compatible. As a matter of fact you have to have Clique for the mod to "click" to heal.
  • #23
I've noticed now when I enter AV (the only time I'm in a raid) the new mana bars are continuing across my entire screen whenever a member leaves/joins or a pet leaves/joins. This is really annoying but I need to have my raid frames up so I can heal.

I'm not getting any errors popping up on my screen, just the long blue mana bar going all the way across my screen so I don't know what information I can give you to help.
  • #20
okay so i love this add on first off gotta give you props cause it is great. the only thing i would say that is kinda frustrating is it does not mark tank, dps, healer as with the new patch so i have to hollar every time i enter a pug.
  • #22
I failed to understand your comment. Please check out the latest version. I have added the LFG and raid roles.

I apologize for the miss understanding.
  • #21
I just tested this and it seems to work. Can you tell me more about what's not working?
