About BossInfo

BossInfo

BossInfo is an addon used to provide a simple overview of Boss fights and encounters. The information is broken down into section for Tanks, Healers and DPS.

The Information in BossInfo is written for Heroic encounters. In most cases the Regular Dungeons are just easier versions of the Heroics so the information cant be used for either. Extra notes have been added for encounters where the Regular and Heroic are different.

Using Bossinfo to see Boss Encounter Information is easy. Simply choose a Boss from the pull down menu or target the Boss and press the Target Button.

BossInfo also has the ability to send an overview of the Boss Encounter to your Party. Simply choose the Boss from the menu or target the Boss and press the Target button and then press the Party Button to send the overview to party chat.

To access the addon, simply click on the icon; or use the slash commands /bi or /bossinfo

Options Menu can be accessed by Right Clicking on the Icon or typing /bioptions or /bossinfooptions

You can now click 'About' and then 'Party' to send a message to your party, telling them where they can download Bossinfo :)

I logged in for the first time ever just to thank you for making this addon. Great idea, if you need any help on it let me know. I"ll learn Lua just to help on this one haha. I pug a ton, a freaking ton, as a tank (I'm masochistic, I guess), so this helps speed my explain shit ramble. (why has no one thought of this before)

I was also surprised to find nothing like this.

You don't have to learn lua to help. If you have a better way to do any of the encounters or tips i missed, i welcome your input.

I also want to expand and include the raids, so i need to start gathering information on those encounters.

If you would like to contribute anything you can email it to [email protected]

Thanks for taking the time to create and release this add-on. It's a real help in running some of the new Cataclysm dungeons!
  • #37
I am glad you like it :)

You posted on Jan 06 you was doing an update that day. I don't mean to be rude or anything. Just wandering if you posted it with a new name or something.
  • #35
I went to upload it and noticed a bunch of things that still needed changing and then work got in the way. However i have just uploaded the file to curseforge. So, as soon as it gets approved it'll be here. Sorry for the delay.

Is there any way you could fix it so that FULL info on boss gets posted to party and not only a part of it, or even sometimes something totally different then it says in info?
For now RobBossMod wins with clear explanation :-)
  • #31
I am uploading a new version to curse tonight with updated and better explained info for most bosses. give it a try :)

Would be nice if there would be a list of spells included (clickable), to see what the spells currently does how much dmg to expect etc.
  • #32
Hopefully someday i will be able to add the damage done from Bosses on any given fight. However, currently this is beyond the scope of my addon.

I have not seen this mentioned yet so it may be an issue only I am experiencing. I have a problem with the in-game icon for BossInfo. The icon itself is considerably larger than any of my other standard Blizzard icons that circle the map as well as any other icons from other addons that circle my map. The icon for BossInfo is not circular but a large black square with the bio-hazard symbol inside.

I see that your icon is called "burning.tga" located in them "images" folder. On inspection I see this file is setup to be 32x32. Looking at "bossinfo.xml" also confirms the size to appear in-game.

When I look at other standard in-game icons for addons around my map they are always enclosed within a small bronze-like ring. This is a very thin outer edge ring on every map addon icon I've ever seen until now. I also believe the standard size is around 22x22 or perhaps 24x24.

Doing some experimenting with your xml file I found that I could change the icon size but that the square icon still sticks out as being different than the rest. As I mentioned I'm not sure if this is intentional or just how you have it setup. It could be an issue only I am experiencing as well.

The only map oriented addons I run is a single one called "Mappy". So far in my long use of this addon I've never seen it change the way an addon developer has setup their addon's icon to appear so I'm hoping it is not altering the way you have your icon intended to appear.

    My Resolution: 1440x900

Your thoughts? Thanks for your time! A lot of complements have gone your way as a result of this addon so far. Great work!

The icon isnt attached to the minimap as long there is not a 2nd one which i didnt see when i used it, so you can move it wherever you want.
