About Carbonite

CARBONITE® is a multi feature addon developed by game industry veterans to improve and enhance the game playing experience of World of Warcraft.

Please visit Carbonite's official support forums for technical support, bug reports, comments, suggestions, etc.

Map - The Carbonite map gives you all the information you need in one easy to use and flexible Google like map. Move, size or zoom it the way you like.

Carbonite supports the Blizzard maps added for WotLK and most Cataclysm instances. Right click an instance location on the map and "Toggle Instance Map" or enter the instance for it to be drawn on the Carbonite map. You will need to zoom in, since they are drawn at a small size. You can see your location and create favorites in the instance.

Quest - Blaze through quests at lightning speed and level faster than you ever thought possible. Our extensive quest database lists the location of quest givers, objectives and turn-ins. Simply click any objective from your quest list and Carbonite will show you where to go. No more wasted time bouncing back and forth between a web browser and the game.

Guide/Hud - The guide is your in-game GPS - it contains the location of every mailbox, trainer, flight master, repair vendor, instance, battle master, etc... if it's in the game it's in the guide. Just click the icon and the HUD navigation arrow will show you the direction, distance and ETA to your target. You can also use it to locate your friends or guild members in a battleground.

CarboniteItems - A data addon that contains information on over 25000 game items. It loads when you use the "Items >>" section of the Guide. Mouse over the item icons to see a Carbonite generated tooltip of information on the item. Search items for specific stats or where it came from. Sort by level, name or search line. Browse bosses for loot.

Warehouse - Browse the equipment, bag and bank slots of every one of your characters at one time! Check their professions, money, experience, honor, arena points and more. You don't have to spend your time switching between characters, use the search filter to find the characters that have just what your looking for.

Battlegrounds - Dominate your opponents with our enhanced battleground map. See the combat status, heath, target and target health of all your teammates. See objective timers right on the map and issue orders with a click of the mouse – call for reinforcements to attack a vulnerable enemy target or simply announce the status of an objective.

Events - A time stamped list of experience and honor gained, enemies killed and other information. What was the name of that guy who ganked you 10 minutes ago? How much honor did you get from the last 3 kills? Did you land the killing blow? Look and see.

Gather - All mining and herb picking is tracked and can be shown on map.

UI - Windows can be moved, sized and locked. Values are saved for each character. Coexists well with most UI addons.

Privacy - Not in a social mood? Just turn off communication with guild, friend or zone and other Carbonite users won't see what you're up to.

The addon's original authors basically abandoned the project.  Their version was MUCH worse than the current one.  The person who took it over is working on things as much as he possibly can.  many of the new features in MoP completely broke the addon.

Also ALL addons are free, the authors only get donations that are few and far between.  There is no waranties here nor is there a guarante that ANYTHING is perfected.  Please keep that in mind in the future as some day the shoe may be on the other foot.

    Totally broken.

Was working fine until I tried to go into the Brawler's Guild in the Stormwind Tram area.

Totally freezes on the load screen and never comes back. Had to force-quit several times as I tried to clear cache and disable other addons.

It ended up bond Carbonite. Disabled it, and everything works again.

    Thanks for reading

Just started to have an issue using some of the quest items from the quest watcher window in the Pana starting area. Such as the Candle to summon the elemental and the bag of wood to free the fire spirit.

my carbonite has a strange problem, maybe it's a bug ...
my markings mines and herbs in carbonite mini map, get moving as we come near them, I'm having a lot of work to mine and collect herbs, because it is very difficult to get to the right place, you have to give a lot back to find the proper location of the herb or mine

See my post below.. It should help you as well...

Does this allow us to find the fastest route from point a to point b? When I last played(4 years ago, maybe longer) I had an AddOn that allowed me to choose a destination from a drop down list(IIRC) and it told me to go to Flightmaster X, then the Flightmaster Y, then airship x, etc.

It may have been cartographer, but I'm not sure at all. I can't seem to find any info in addons that may have that function and I don't want to download a ton of addons to check. Since I am newly it would be a great boon since I have forgetten most paths.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am an experienced Carbonite user. Been using it for some time, however, I am at a complete loss. Taking into consideration that the nodes in Panderia only appear on my route once I find them, and that all my tracking is selected appropriately, and my Blizz tracking is all set accordingly, my yellow nodes have disappeared (in all of Azeroth). I have read countless forums, and tried countless fixes. The only fix that gets me even close to having the nodes appear on the Carb map is a mini map overlay (which I have never needed to use before) however, it lays on top of the carb map covering my route. I am so stumped. I do not know what to do. Everything was working fine until the last major update about 2 weeks ago. Sadly I have not mined since then! lol

Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or fixes I would really appreciate it =)

    Thanks so much

  • #108

I just wanted to add, to be completely clear. My nodes are appearing as the icon depicting what they are, they are just not lighting up, or flipping to yellow circles when they are mineable. Also, new nodes that I have not yet discovered (In Panderia) are not appearing as yellow dots in the carb map at all.

A few people have reported this problem on the Carb forum in WOWInterface

You can find it here:- http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=116

The general fix is to reset Carb back to default by deleting the saved variables folder..

Quoted from jeffy162 on the carb forum..

"Basically, to do a clean reinstall of Carbonite you would have to delete the four Carbonite folders (Carbonite, CarboniteItems, CarboniteNodes, CarboniteTransfer) from your "Path to your WoW folder\Interface\AddOns\" folder, then delete the "Carbonite.lua" and "Carbonite.lua.bak" files from your "Path to your WoW folder\WTF\Account\ACCOUNT NAME\SavedVariables\" folder.

If you are using Window's Vista, 7, or (possibly) 8 and have your WoW installed in the "Program Files" (or "Program Files (x86) for 64 bit systems) you would find at least the "AddOns" folder in your "VirtualStore", which is located (at least on Vista, which is what I'm using) at "C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\VirtualStore".

Should I have posted this elsewhere? Was kinda hoping for a reply by now =)

If you don't mind, I have recommendations to make this addon better, based on personal experience.

    1.  Saving settings into a profile to be used across characters.  So far I see no such option, and I really hate logging into a character for the first time with carbonite and having to reconfigure everything.

    2.  For characters on the Alliance side, include a quest complete sound clip that sounds like the peasant from WC3 saying "Job's done!"  I play mostly Horde, but I'd like that sound and saveable to a separate profile for my token ally toons.

    3.  Ability to either track gather nodes on the carbonite map, or import quest and other carbonite overlays onto the default minimap.  I hate having to adjust my minimap size constantly for whenever I'm farming ore or doing quests.  I also use only the default minimap on my hunter alt to use with his tracking, but could really use the carbonite overlays, especially in bgs.

    4.  I've also been experiencing a glitch where toons I have played with carbonite before, either the map settings won't save for next login, or the bg/arena minimap resets each time I enter a bg/arena.  In arena I have to just close it out because I don't have time to be readjusting it back into my UI.  Once I put it some place and in a certain way, I want it to stay that way.

    5.  Honestly I feel like having 3 different minimaps (default, carbonite, and carbonite bg) makes my UI a little clumsy.  For now I'm going to turn off the map minimap function and use my sexymap addon.

    Thanks for reading!

I'll try to help you a little...

    1. Saving settings into a profile to be used across characters. So far I see no such option, and I really hate logging into a character for the first time with carbonite and having to reconfigure everything.

Carbonite saves it's variables on a per-character basis. This is because most people have their UI set up differently per toon and it would create problems with a "one size fixes all" solution.. Ask yourself this, Would you rather Carb work around your individual UI setup or would you rather have your UI work around Carb?

    2. For characters on the Alliance side, include a quest complete sound clip that sounds like the peasant from WC3 saying "Job's done!" I play mostly Horde, but I'd like that sound and saveable to a separate profile for my token ally toons.

This is actually included already.. But not the sound file you mentioned. There is 6 different sound files that you can play on completing a quest/objective. It's in the options, you just have to look for it..

Sounds like you have not set up Carb correctly.. I only use one map window and I have all those things displayed. (My main is a hunter) Try merging the Carb map with the Bliz mini map and turning on the hunter tracking via the spyglass menu.

This will happen if you don't let WOW shut down by it's self and hit that "exit now" button. When you let WOW shut down ( that wait 30 seconds thing) it's actually saving the variables in the background. Either that or your Carb profiles are corrupt. (if you are talkng about the map holder replacement). Either that or the zoom function you can set at a specific height, try changing the defaults.

    5. Honestly I feel like having 3 different minimaps (default, carbonite, and carbonite bg) makes my UI a little clumsy. For now I'm going to turn off the map minimap function and use my sexymap addon.

Like I said above.. I have one window for my map and this functions perfectly. (apart from a few known bugs that is being worked on)
