About Carbonite

CARBONITE® is a multi feature addon developed by game industry veterans to improve and enhance the game playing experience of World of Warcraft.

Please visit Carbonite's official support forums for technical support, bug reports, comments, suggestions, etc.

Map - The Carbonite map gives you all the information you need in one easy to use and flexible Google like map. Move, size or zoom it the way you like.

Carbonite supports the Blizzard maps added for WotLK and most Cataclysm instances. Right click an instance location on the map and "Toggle Instance Map" or enter the instance for it to be drawn on the Carbonite map. You will need to zoom in, since they are drawn at a small size. You can see your location and create favorites in the instance.

Quest - Blaze through quests at lightning speed and level faster than you ever thought possible. Our extensive quest database lists the location of quest givers, objectives and turn-ins. Simply click any objective from your quest list and Carbonite will show you where to go. No more wasted time bouncing back and forth between a web browser and the game.

Guide/Hud - The guide is your in-game GPS - it contains the location of every mailbox, trainer, flight master, repair vendor, instance, battle master, etc... if it's in the game it's in the guide. Just click the icon and the HUD navigation arrow will show you the direction, distance and ETA to your target. You can also use it to locate your friends or guild members in a battleground.

CarboniteItems - A data addon that contains information on over 25000 game items. It loads when you use the "Items >>" section of the Guide. Mouse over the item icons to see a Carbonite generated tooltip of information on the item. Search items for specific stats or where it came from. Sort by level, name or search line. Browse bosses for loot.

Warehouse - Browse the equipment, bag and bank slots of every one of your characters at one time! Check their professions, money, experience, honor, arena points and more. You don't have to spend your time switching between characters, use the search filter to find the characters that have just what your looking for.

Battlegrounds - Dominate your opponents with our enhanced battleground map. See the combat status, heath, target and target health of all your teammates. See objective timers right on the map and issue orders with a click of the mouse – call for reinforcements to attack a vulnerable enemy target or simply announce the status of an objective.

Events - A time stamped list of experience and honor gained, enemies killed and other information. What was the name of that guy who ganked you 10 minutes ago? How much honor did you get from the last 3 kills? Did you land the killing blow? Look and see.

Gather - All mining and herb picking is tracked and can be shown on map.

UI - Windows can be moved, sized and locked. Values are saved for each character. Coexists well with most UI addons.

Privacy - Not in a social mood? Just turn off communication with guild, friend or zone and other Carbonite users won't see what you're up to.

Thanks so much for your help Rythal1, am back and using carbonite! The work you do is awesome!

  • #91

Just installed carbonite for the first time in years tonight so not sure if this is a new bug or not.

When I open the map it always centers on the zone and places my character near the middle,  Then if i put my mouse over where i should be it looks like it does some kind of overlay of the area's i've explored and then it shows my character right,  but only while my mouse is over the area,  other wise it switches view and puts me back in the middle of the map.

This pretty much makes the map useless so i hope its something that can be fixed.  let me know if you dont know what i'm talking about and i'll explain it better or fraps it.

The download is of 5.059, and I can't seem to get it to work.

    5.1 beta versions?

It seems that on Carbonite's official forums (which, are part of WoWInterface) there is currently a 5.1-compliant beta version that we don't have here.  I hope that Rythal can upload it on Curse as well.  I'm very glad that he's a project manager and that Carbonite has gone open source, as well.   I've not used it in years, but I'm interested in trying it out when it is updated.   I  use a lot of addons that have in-depth functionality I've found to be best-of-breed over the years, but if Carbonite has a similar level of functionality it would be nice to simplify down and use a single addon to handle many of the functions I'm looking for. For instance...

In regards to its Gather functionality listed above, does it also support tracking/recording other nodes besides mining and herbs, like Fishing pools, treasure/dirt piles in Four Winds, gas clouds and the like?   How does it compare to GatherMate2 (or Gatherer) - can it import their databases of item locations?   Do you run GatherMate2 or Gatherer alongside Carbonite? Etc...

How does its Quest Log/Tracker compare to that of QuestGuru? Does it say, allow in-line QuestItem use (ie spawn a little usable icon for the quest item next to the name of the quest)?    Is its Quest database up to date as far as 5.1 (in the 5.1 version of Carbonite of course)  and does it compare to something like QuestCompletist in terms of monitoring available and completed quests and their location in a given area?

    Thanks again!

  • #89

Yes, most of your content questions are items I've seen inside Carbonite. I no longer use Gather, nor Quest Completist, nor several other items like that.... Though I would like to see the addition of the Dark Soil items into the node info.... I just use the DarkSoil addon for those.

  • #93

That is indeed good to hear.  Is it currently possible to import Gatherer or Gathermate2 data to Carbonite? I have an extensive selection of saved nodes and it would be unfortunate to have to start from the beginning. If this is not yet possible, I suppose I can use both GatherMate2 alongside Carbonite.    I'll have to try it out and see how it stacks up agains my current addons; I've gotten used to having the in depth options of GatherMate2/w data, QuestGuru, QuestCompletist (or Wholly/Grail - it would be great if these two projects can merge or something. They both do the same thing rather well. Some say QuestCompletist is more accurate/complete, but Wholly/Grail is packed up into a nice library/database for other addons to use. Perhasp Carbonite can integrate the Grail database into its available quest tracking!)   Mapster and others. It would be great if Carbonite could meet my needs as well.

I hope there is an update to Carbonite. It's awsome and miss it!

    Re: Carbonite

For reason carbonite no longer works with the new 5.1 update of WOW. Are there plans to make it so?

  • #85

Quest link do not link the quest in the correct language (PTbr), links the title quest  English not Portuguese.

    ver: 5.0.5

that was actually intentional that it sends 5.057, since 5.058 caused *points up at the next post* that problem.
