About CastYeller2

CastYeller2 allows the player to make chat announces in response to various game events.

For each announce, the player defines :

  • the names of spells, items and/or auras to watch,
  • the events to watch (sources and triggers they propose),
  • where to send the announce (outputs),
  • optionally: per event custom announce templates.

Events and outputs can be disabled globally.

A configuration guide is being written.

Source modules

  • Auras: send events when the player gains/loses buffs and when he/she applies debuffs.
  • Cooldowns: send events at start and end of spell and items cooldowns.
  • Spellcasts: send events related to spell casting : start of casting, successful instant cast, failures, misses.

Output modules

  • Whisper: whisper the announce the target (except the player himself),
  • Chat broadcast: broadcast the announce to various chats, including party, raid, channel, yell and say,
  • Visual: display the announce using UI text areas like Blizzard error message, Blizzard floating combat text, ScrollingCombatText, MikScrollingBattleText or Parrot area, depending on what you installed.
  • Custom channel: broadcast the announce to specific channel. This channel is defined separately for each announce.

Predefined announces

Castyeller2 comes with several predefined announces for each class. You edit them or use them as example to create new announces.

Please notice several of them are restricted to combat so you cannot test them when your toon is not in combat.

Differences between CastYeller and CastYeller2

CastYeller2 is a complete rewrite of the CastYeller addon.

  • modular design to allow to create additional announce sources and/or sinks,
  • announce cooldown and aura events in addition to spellcasts,
  • anything is user-configurable, including custom announces.

    So am I assuming that development for this mod has been... abandoned entirely, in favor of RSA?

    For some reason, I'm unable to use /cy2 to open up the options menu on only one, specific toon.

    It works on every other.

    I'll type it in, push enter, and the command goes through, but nothing happens. When I try to type it again, I can't actually push enter to put the command in, as if the client won't accept the input of "/cy2"

    It only happens on that one specific character, and I'm not sure why.

    Would you mind explaining to me how I would program the addon to yell,"Casting Fear Ward on _____" once I make a successful fear ward cast? I think if I can get somebody to walk me through doing it the first time I should have it down pat from then on.

    A quick note: Trying to set up an announce for Divine Sacrifice. CastYeller informs all 25 of us when gaining and losing Divine Sacrifice. Trying to figure out how to just have it announce when it's up and when it's down.

    Sigh, I am a giant douche and didn't even check if I was using the latest beta before I posted. Of course, I wasn't. Loaded up the beta, selected the option for "Self buff" and spam went away. Thanks for an awesome addon. As a pally with many things I need to inform people of (Sac, Salv, Prot, Freedom, Divine Sac, Aura Mastery, Ressing) this mod is a necessity.

    Er, I should clarify: It informs us with 25 lines as we gain and lose the Divine Sacrifice buff. Is there anyway to just state that the buff is and then down from the perspective of one person?

    Can you have it disable its functionality when in Blood Presence. i.e. A DK tank may need to yell its Icebound Fortitude cooldown, but a DPS offspec of it would make it silly.

    There's an unintuitive element in this addon that may make many here thinking 'it doesn't work'.

    I'm talking about disabling certain features on the general settings on the top and them not being overwritten by individual settings. e.g. If I have only instant spell castings on general settings and then I make a continual casting entry it may confuse me why it doesn't work.

    I suggest either to
    a) Make it very clear in bold letter "Disabling any option here will make individual entries not work with that option"
    or
    b) Make a different setup. e.g. "Disable options" general menu so it is very clear if a box is ticked or unticked there it will disable all such features in individual settings.

    What would be the easiest way to set up CY2 to yell,"Sapped!" whenever a rogue saps me. This would be extremely useful in battlegrounds and arenas.
