About ChatSubs

Lets you semi-automatically insert your target's, focus', or own class, race, level, and other information in chat. Useful especially for PVP or RP macros.

This is done by adding new substitution strings. For example:

<target> - your target's name
<targetclass> - your target's class
<race> - your race
<pettype> - your combat pet's type (voidwalker, imp, cat, bear, etc.)

So, for example, you could macro:

/3 spotted <targetpvp> level <targetlevel> <targetrace> <targetclass> named <target> at <position>

target someone, and it would send out something like:

"spotted flagged level 21 human warrior named Joe at 34.2,64.3"

On the RP side, it can fill in pronouns for you:

<targetheshe>
<targethimher>
<hisher>

so, you could do a macro like:

/em walks up to <target>, puts <hisher> arm around <targethisher> shoulders, and gives <targethimher> a squeeze.

ChatSubs should work in all channels -- say, emote, yell, raid, bg, defense, trade, global, even player-created channels.

When characters are at a premium, you can also use shorter substitution strings, modelled off of WoW's %t and %f functionality.

More details in the README.TXT included.

2.32
 - tested compatible with 4.3

2.31
 - tested compatible with 4.2

2.30
 - tested compatible with 4.1.  Since AddEmote now includes its own internal version of ChatSubs, ChatSubs now includes code to test whether AddEmote is also installed.  If it is, then if AddEmote's version of ChatSubs is higher, the AddEmote version will be used.

2.2.4
 - tested compatible with 4.0.1

2.2.3
 - removed use of deprecated functions to prepare for Cataclysm

2.2.2
 - updated TOC for WoW 3.3
 - added new <mouseover> and %o substitutions for the mouseover target

2.2.1
 - fixed handling of absent targets with new-style substitutions (i.e., they do the "everyone" now too)

2.2
 - added <text> substitution for addons using ChatSubs as a library -- what it places is determined by other addon

2.1
 - added validation function for addons using ChatSubs as a library to check whether the units for a substitution string exist

2.0
 - added new substitution string syntax
 - old syntax still works as well
