About Chinchilla Minimap
Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.
- Appearance
- Allows changing of blip size (useful since 3.1), border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
- Auto Zoom
- Zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).
- Compass
- A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
- Coordinates
- Show your location coordinates.
- Expander
- Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
- Location
- Show the name of your location more flexibly.
- Move Buttons
- Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
- Ping
- Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
- Position
- Position the minimap and frames around it.
- Range Circle
- Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
- Show / Hide
- Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
- Tracking Dots
- Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colorblindness.
- Wheel Zoom
- Mousewheel to zoom the minimap.

Version 2.5.3
- New package with updated libraries in an effort to reduce taint.
Version 2.5.2
- Blinking blips are now off by default.
Version 2.5.1
- Added "Charmed" minimap blip theme.
- Blip previews in the Tracking Dots config are now embedded in the frame instead of in a dropdown menu.
- Use the IsIndoors() API instead of abusing Minimap:SetZoom().

- Updated for WoW 4.3.0.
- Added font, border and background selection options to the Ping, Location and Coordinates modules.
- Fixed _NPCScan.Overlay support in the Expander module (it wasn't centered properly).
- Fixed GatherMate2 support in the Expander module (the blips didn't update properly when switching maps).
- Tidied up some of the config sections to make it look better.
- Disabled sending test pings when changing the config while in a group to prevent spam.
Version 2.4.2
- Fixed an oversight which caused the "Unread Invites Only" option to not function properly.
Version 2.4.1
- Fixed a bug caused by Blizzard's awful coding which caused errors on startup for some users.
Version 2.4
- Updated for WoW 4.2.0.
- Special thanks to Fyreuni, _Lizzia and palmetto_rose for their support!

Version 2.3.2

- Added movement support for PlayerPowerBarAlt.
- Added an opacity option to the Expander module.
Version 2.3.1
- Fixed an oversight causing every minimap button to show unnecessarily if set to always show. Oops.
- Added a "None" border which removes any and all borders around the minimap. Thanks to Blazeflack for the idea.
- Added an option to only show the Calendar button if there are new invites.
Version 2.3
- Added a feature that allows you to show minimap buttons when you hover your cursor over the minimap.
- Added a feature that allows you to toggle the tracking menu on mouse-click.
- Added an option that allows you to "unclamp" frames and drag them off the screen. Thanks to Kynn for the idea.
- Added several safety checks to the AutoZoom module to prevent 500+ timers being created if you or another addon repeatedly alter the minimap zoom very quickly.
- Fixed a conflict with Titan Panel v5. Thanks to Bremp for figuring this one out.
- Removed support for GatherMate 1. Please upgrade to GatherMate 2 to retain HUD functionality.
- You now toggle the Expander minimap instead of it only showing while you are pressing down your chosen button.

- The "who pinged?" chat notification is now throttled to once per 5 seconds if the same person spam-pings the minimap.
- Increased the default height of the quest tracker.
- Updated localisation. A huge thanks goes to the people who do the translating for me, I don't thank or credit their work enough. Some translations are still missing in places, see Chinchilla's addon webpage for more information.
Version 2.2.2

Version 2.1.5
- Fixed a longstanding bug preventing minimap buttons from being place along the edges of the screen. Blizzard's code really sucks sometimes.
- Options are now created on demand. This should make logging in slightly faster.
Version 2.1.4
- Module names no longer conflict with other addons. Whoops.
- Boss frames are no longer hidden by default. Whoops.
- Boss frame positioning options are no longer disabled when boss frames are disabled.

- Updated for WoW 3.3.0.

Version 2.0.8
- Updated for WoW 3.2.0.
Version 2.0.7

Like so many others I really like your add on. The default minimap is too small to be useful for me.
I seem to be having a problem with my character stuttering. In flight, running, in combat. I simply stop what I am doing for a moment (length of time varies) and then everything resumes.
I am not a power user and am reluctant to lay the fault at anyone's doorstep. All too often it belongs at mine.
I have removed all addons and the problem disappears. I reenable Chinchilla and the problem reoccurs. I will continue to experiment with other addons in an attempt to see if the problem occurs with just some other add on too but it appears to be Chinchilla. Have you had this problem before and is there anything I should be doing.
Thanks for your efforts. They are appreciated!
Ignore everything in the above post except the compliments. My character still does the stutter step without any addon installed. I checked it for a longer time and it finally did it. IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH CHINCHILLA!
I'm unable to hide the "Location" at the top of the map.
Example: http://i.imgur.com/UOBAV.jpg
Am I doing it something wrong? Everything else seems to work perfectly for me.
Not sure if it's a Chinchilla problem or a TomTom problem but when I change the Blip Size in Chinchilla, TomTom's waypoints and arrow on the minimap scale their distance from minimap's centre.
TT waypoints are off of their intended "objective" (e.g. a quest blip) and slowly approach teir correct spot as I close on them. It's pretty easy to replicate, just set blip Size under 100%. I'm going to post this report on both addons page.
Thanks!
I have tried to replicate this but so far, everything works as it should be.
Something is conflicting with it on your end, or your settings aren't being saved properly when you logout.
I'm not sure if this is a Chinchilla bug, I think it's a Blizzard bug, but I'm hoping Chinchilla can put in a workaround that fixes Blizzard's bug.
Quest POI's. They are incredibly useful when questing, however whenever I log in, it tracks whatever quest I had in the top most slot when I logged in. Only. As I move around the world and other quests become closer (I sort by proximity) it still stays 'locked on' to that one quest. And if I do that one quest, then the quest POI simply fails to work at all for the rest of my gaming session.
Is there any way Chinchilla could 'detect' when the 'closest quest' changes and somehow 'reset' the quest POI tracking so that it continuously shows quest POI for my closest quests?
Alright, I've done some more research and testing. It turns out "QuestHelperLite" was causing this problem.
What I'm trying to figure out how to do now is how to get the closest quest to always be the active quest.
since you have a way to manipulate the quest tracker, why not make it moveable as well, I do not like my map sitting inside the quest objectives trackers :(
If this is possible, then how do you do it?
Go to the Position section of the config. You can find it there, listed as "quest and achievement tracker".
Awesome sir, ty very much! I missed it.
Great map, best I've found. Thanks.
Occassional Interface errors created with it here:
An action was blocked in combat because of taint from Chinchilla - ArenaEnemyFrames:SetPoint() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:1993 <unnamed>:UIParentManageFramePositions() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:1347 3/10 17:13:09.805 <unnamed>:SetAttribute() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:2021 UIParent_ManageFramePositions() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\BuffFrame.lua:348 BuffFrame_UpdateAllBuffAnchors() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\BuffFrame.lua:120 BuffFrame_Update() 3/10 17:13:09.805 Interface\FrameXML\BuffFrame.lua:49
There is nothing I can do about this. One of your other addons is causing the issue and Blizzard's (imho, god-awful) code is blaming Chinchilla.
Chinchilla doesn't touch arena frames or buff frames in any way, shape or form.
Sorry.
The new update from about an hour ago is making all tracking icons, quest icons, any type of icon, blink inside the map. I tried disabling and reenabling the addon, restarted wow a few times. any ideas?
My bad, sorry.
