About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

I reeeeeeally love this map addon, but I cannot get your quest tracker to play nice.

I can move the position...and the moment I untick "Movable", it jumps back to where it was.
I don't need it, but when I untick "enabled", it is still there. (Even after reload ui / logout)
I do use "Move Anything" as well, because there are things I just want out of the way.

Drives me nuts, and I never used to have this problem before the latest patch. (I used Carbonite, but it's not updated yet.)

I am also having the exact same problem, and it's really annoying having the quest tracker behind the map...

yah in version Chinchilla.version = "v2.6-25-g0ee2d58", that i still have on my Beta toon, the icons are normal sized.

An issue that I've always had with Chinchilla and I'm not quite sure how to fix it is my quest log (on the right side of my screen) seems to be super high up, to the point if I try to put coords or anything directly under my minimap they cover up the first part of the quest log.  Is there a way to detach the quest log/objectives from the minimap?

  • #1312

In the Position section of the config window (type "/chin" to open), there are options to move the quest tracker. It is listed as "Quest and achievement tracker" in the options. You can unlock the frame from there and drag it to wherever you like.

This does not currently work unfortunately. Everytime you uncheck the "Movable" checkbox, it jumps right back to where it was.

  • #1308

If I move the minimap to a different location on the screen, upon logging out and back in the map has returned to the default location in the upper right. It's very annoying that it doesn't remember where I've placed it.

Chances are it's another addon causing a conflict, i.e. MoveAnything or an addon similar to it. Does the problem still happen when Chinchilla is the only addon you have enabled?

It could also be a file permissions issue on your computer but the Curse Client and Battle.net App can help solve the issue. Make sure you are quitting WoW properly by using the Exit Game option in the menu and not using Alt+F4. ;)

I figured out what was causing this. It was the Glance Information Bar. In it's options there are a series of checkboxes under "Move the following to make room for Glance". Each one is checked by default if you have the bar set to display at the top of the window. Unchecking the box for "minimap" fixed this issue for me.

    having the same issue with boss frames. You were able to fix it once by;

Chinchilla and MoveAnything have never behaved well with each other, sadly. :(

I think what I'll do is tell Chinchilla to disable its relocation feature (the Position module) if it detects MoveAnything installed as well.

Boss frame movement could also do with an overhaul. The code is far from ideal.

Boss frames all snafu'd.  I think this happened before, I use moveanaything btw.  But it's happened with MA turned off.  They're appearing as weird red boxes. I tried moving my minimap back from the bottom but the frames reset.
