About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

If there's no incoming method to resize the boss frames via chinchilla, can you maybe give us an option to just totally turn off that portion of the addon so that we can use something like move anything to do exactly that? The boss frames are much too small, and ever since chinchilla came back with boss frame control, it overrides my move anything and my boss frames vanish totally if I have both on.

So I had to turn off/remove move anything to get my boss frames back...and while size control via Chinchilla would be more ideal (since the *only* thing I use move anything for was boss frame size/position), any option to resize is better than none.

And so many kudos for keeping this great addon working all this time :)

I think ever since 5.4 (or at least 5.4.7) came out, I've not had boss frames working at all, and I don't even use Move Anything. Not sure how to solve it as I am not a programmer.

EDIT: I found out why I didn't have any boss frames. Apperantly I had unchecked that option in Chinchilla's show/hide option.

Not certain now, though, why it seems so small. But atl east it finally works again.

I too have the issue where you can hide the minimap buttons, but they're still there and interactive; just invisible. They also interfere with anything (from other addons) that overlaps that position. It'd be great to actually turn them off altogether.

Thanks for this great addon - it's by far my favorite minimap mod.

Since you removed the ability to move boss frames, my boss frames have disappeared and I'm unable to get them back. I really dont want to have to stop using this addon. Please fix :(

  • #1275

I have the same problem. No boss frames what so ever. I tried deleting the .lua and starting from scratch but I still don't have boss frames.

  • #1272

I noticed even though I have zoom buttons hidden they can still be clicked on lol.. Weird error I know not a big issues but was kind of odd went to click on something near the minimap and it suddenly zoomed it I was like umm ok..my imagination so did it again.  I unhid the buttons moved them rehid them and they can be clicked on even though they are not on the screen.

Anyway to set a backdrop for the minimap - when using a square border with Rotate minimap, themap doesn't fill the frame. I believe this is a Blizz limitation, but it'd be nice to set a static backdrop for the map at least.

I seem to have lost my calendar button.  Unchecking and checking the show/hide selection doesn't seem to help.  Any ideas?

  • #1268

Try playing with the "Show on Mouseover" or "Unread Invites Only" options in ShowHide. If that doesn't work, try changing settings in MoveButtons as it may have been move off the screen.

Let me know if either of these help you. :-)

No joy,  but the button is also missing without any map addon at all, so it's probably something else.  I've tried turning off a bunch of my other addons to no avail.  Hmm...

Hi, I have version 2.6, on my Chinchilla map settings the left column does not show Quest tracker catagory.  I seem to have the rest though like Position, Range Circle etc.

I was looking for this as I wanted to resize my quest tracker frame.

What can I do to get this working?

    Thank you for your help!

  • #1269

I removed it a few versions ago as I felt the functionality was beyond the scope of the addon's purpose.

However a lot of people have asked me to bring it back, so I may end up doing so. ;-)

  • #1276

I agree that this is out of scope for your addon; there are others that do this. You do still have objectives settings mixed in with minimap appearance settings, though. It'd be nice if they were differentiated in a more obvious manner - maybe a heading or box to separate them.

  • #1265

Newest version on the project site fixes the errors, by disabling boss code until he can figure out whats going on.

I'm having an issue with boss frames. I can move them around, and if I do it right before a pull, they will sort of temporarily be in the correct position... But if a new boss unit is added, the boss frames reattach themselves to the bottom of my minimap...which is at the bottom of my screen, making the boss frames not visible any more.

I don't have any other addons that have boss frame control, near as I can tell.
