About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

Tagging as v2.6.1.

--------------------

Ethan Centaurai:
    - Delete gitattributes.
    - Update gitignore.
    - Whoops, forgot to remove that from there.
    - It is now possible to show/hide the boss frames again.
    - It is now possible to resize the quest tracker again.
    - Position: Disable boss frame movement until I can figure out what the hell is wrong with it.
    - Position: Boss frames no longer become huge when movable.
    - Position: Boss frames should now stay in the place you put them.
    - ShowHide: Parent the buttons to a hidden frame instead of hiding the button or making it invisible. No more combat taint, no more dead zones, no more buttons being shown when they shouldn't be. In theory.
    - ShowHide: Fix the Movie Recording indicator.
    - Core: Fix the Rotate Minimap checkbox.
    - Appearance: Fix the Wider Objectives Tracker checkbox.
    - ShowHide: Fix vehicle seats default setting.
    - ShowHide: Frames are now hidden as well as made invisible.
    - ShowHide: Minor cleanup and comment updates.
    - Position: Boss unit frames can be moved around again. Code still sucks. Deal with it.
    - ShowHide: The vehicle seats indicator can be shown/hidden again.
    - ShowHide: Boss unit frames can be shown/hidden again.

I can't replicate this even with clean SavedVariables but I'll keep an eye out just in case.

  • #1144

I figured it out. It was simpleMiniMap. For some reason, after I updated Chinchilla, it started showing the the Blizz location bar under the Chinchilla one. When I disabled simpleMinimap, it corrected the problem. Didn't need SMM anymore, so it's gone.  Sorry for any trouble.

Oh, and any chance we might get a Horde skin for the minimap? I have always used the Alliance one since I haven't much liked the others, but a red Horde one would be nice to have. :)

Thank you for this addon. :)

I am currently unable to move arena frames. So if I move the minimap to the lower part of the screen, I can't see them at all. :/

  • #1141

    This is a known "issue".

Chinchilla has no support for arena frames at all but I am looking into adding it, but I need to sort a few other things out first.

  • #1134

With Chinchilla turned on my tooltips don't work. Half the time I get no tooltip once in awhile I can get a tooltip to show up a few pixels away from the dot on the map (such as mining nodes). If I disable Chinchilla then it works perfectly.

  • #1140

This is not a Chinchilla bug. Chinchilla only changes the art of the blips, and it is impossible for addons to modify anything else about them.

  • #1133

I'm having a hard time sizing and positioning my quest tracker.  I have both moveanything and chinchilla installed.  If i disable the quest tracker module in chinchilla, The position reverts to a default appearance but I'm unable to actually move it with MoveAnything.  When I reset the quest tracker frame to default position in MoveAnything and try to use Chinchilla to position it I can get it to cooperate only as long as "movable" is checked in the positions module, which would be fine but the frame is colored orange in that state.  When I uncheck "movable", I assume it would simply lock it's position, but instead it reverts to its original position.

I use alot of addons, and for all I know there could be more than just moveanything affecting the quest tracker, but I wondered if anyone had worked this problem out recently.  I saw a bug report from 2010 ont he ace site that said conflicts with moveanything were fixed.

  • #1139

Chinchilla and MoveAnything have never worked together without causing problems.

Disable the Position module inside Chinchilla and use MoveAnything to relocate your UI elements instead.

  • #1130

I dont know if its your addon, but I was in a challenge mode dungeon today and I couldnt see the timer, that is supposed to show up in the questtracker module.

  • #1131

Probably is. Go to the Quest Tracker section of Chinchilla's config and increase the height value. That "should" help, but I haven't run any Challenge Modes at all yet so I can't say for sure.

  • #1132

Found out it was broker_allxp and not your addon that stopped the timer from showing up.

Hi I got this error while using ElvUI for /farmmode I assume it has to do with expander not sure:

Looks like Chinchilla and ElvUI are not compatible with each other. This doesn't surprise me. :/

There isn't anything I can do sadly. I can only suggest that you don't use Chinchilla alongside ElvUI.

    Hi,

Really really weird thing happening. chincilla is making my arena frames dissappear!

I systematically turned off all addons and added one at a time and this was the culprit.

    Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: This only happens when the Postion is enabled.

It's a known bug. I will get around to fixing it eventually but I have a massive PvP phobia and there are other changes I need to do first.

    Please bear with me.
