About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

This matches Blizzard's default minimap strata settings.
    - Appearance: Simplify the strata options to low, medium and high.
    - Appearance: Remove debug.
    - Appearance: Fix button border alpha feature.
Why this was not throwing up errors is beyond me.

To solve the "2-3 quests" mystery, open Chinchilla's config and find the Quest Tracker section. There, you will be able to resize the tracker to your liking. I've provided this as the tracker does not like being moved and will stop automatically resizing itself when new quests are added.

As for the items mystery, I reckon you've got the tracker too close to the edge of the screen and the item buttons are bring pushed off the side. Try moving the tracker to the left and see if that helps.

    Command

Hi, thanks for keeping this great addon alive and updated! You are doing very good job. I just wanted to ask if there are any commands for your addon? I would like to switch profiles between my DPS and Solo positioning of Minimap just by writing a macro and additng it to my grid/bartender macros.......sofar I couldnt find any commads. Any help would be appreciated. Thx a lot

  • #1064

Yes there is! Sort of. To change profles, use this: /script Chinchilla.db:SetProfile("<your profile here>")

It is case sensitive and the profile name needs to be inside quote marks or you will get a Lua error, so for example:

    /script Chinchilla.db:SetProfile("Solo")

    /script Chinchilla.db:SetProfile("DPS")

    Hope this helps!

thanks as i love your map the best out of all that i have used, i did try moving like you said but that didnt move them either... just so you know
  • #1063

I didn't think it would after seeing your screenshot. Those unit frames are new. The "world state" mover only moves the mini score board at the top of the screen.

I very rarely PvP but I'll look into it.

    cheers mr your a star

Hello, I am having trouble getting the world map to open when clicking on the round number next to the quest.. Is this something that has changed and no longer doable with the new updates or will this become available again.  btw, love this addon, my favorite map of all times! Thank you for all you do to keep it running

  • #1060

This is something that has changed in WoW 5.0.4, not by me. Clicking on the circled numbers now changes the quest's "point of interest" area on the minimap instead of opening the world map.

I quite like it this way to be honest. I will not change it back.

I'm glad you like the addon! Comments like this is what keeps me going! :)

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l7/sifi_01/1.jpg i hope this picture helps some with finding out if you can move it because it shows what the person is casting and i cant see it where my map is :) and thanks for the reply to my question
  • #1059

Well, I've never seen that before! :)

I'll poke around and see what I can do.

For some reason, the LFG icon will absolutely not show no matter what i do, have i stumbled upon a mysterious non-reproducable bug, or is this something known?  Is there any info that could help me diagnose the cause of the issue? (without a lua error, im lost :/)

  • #1055

It is known and there was indeed an error on my side. I've fixed it in my local build and will release a new update Soon(TM).

  • #1068

Was the last update (2.5.6) supposed to be the one you were talking about?  If so, mines still gone after update :/.
