About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

    Why this was not throwing up errors is beyond me.

    Autohide Minimap

    Hi, first of all great addon!!!!

    Is there any plan to change minimap opacity with the mouse onhover? It would be great to hide when you dont need it, and show it with just mouseover...

    Thanks, bye

  • #1010

    Not too sure if anyone has said this yet but the options to hide / show the zone title and zone bar do not work, an easy fix for me was to put a unit frame over it lol. but still would be nice to get rid of it >.<

    "Interface action failed because of an AddOn"

    Hello There,

    I recently came back to playing wow and one of the first addons I installed is yours :D

    After playing a little I started having this strange error in chat window:

    "Interface action failed because of an AddOn"

    After seeing how to identify this error (From here: http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/us/2518903044.htm)

    This is what my Taint.log file reads:

    1/22 03:02:38.281 An action was blocked in combat because of taint from Chinchilla - WorldMapBlobFrame:Show()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\WorldMapFrame.lua:1675 WorldMapFrame_DisplayQuests()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\WorldMapFrame.lua:1742 WorldMapFrame_UpdateMap()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\WorldMapFrame.lua:198
    1/22 03:02:38.281 SetMapToCurrentZone()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\WorldMapFrame.lua:163
    1/22 03:02:38.281 WorldMapFrame:Show()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:1560 <unnamed>:SetUIPanel()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:1402 <unnamed>:ShowUIPanel()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:1338
    1/22 03:02:38.281 <unnamed>:SetAttribute()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:2044 ShowUIPanel()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 Interface\FrameXML\UIParent.lua:2028 ToggleFrame()
    1/22 03:02:38.281 TOGGLEWORLDMAP:1

    I would like some information about it (why it is happening) and how to fix it, if possible, since I couldn’t find much info about it myself.

    Thanks for the great addon,

    I appreciate your time.

    Is there some way to hide/hovershow other mods buttons?

  • #1005

    There is not, and it will most likely stay that way. Sorry.

  • #1008

    Im kinda dissapointed in that. You couldnt add some sort of mod to put minimap buttons in a hide/show box? There are some mods out there that do this already.

    also, a few times when i reload the buttons move back to where they were before i moved them.

    But not being able to hide other mods buttons has made me uninstall the mod.

    Sorry, I like your mod and you did a good job, I just need a little more. i will check it out in the future.

  • #1003

    I installed with along with Fishing buddy, Auctioneer, and Collect me. Thats all I have, but once sinalled Chinchilla Minimap Broke my game and made it crash. 0-0 This is the only add on that changes those tracking dots.. Would love to see if I can fix this

  • #1002

    Howdy! I love the addon and it's been doing a great job for me. However, I've noticed that the new Blizzard Quest POIs seem to be doing some pretty strange things with certain minimap shapes. I'm not sure if this is a bug on Chinchilla's end or Blizzard's, but I thought I should mention it incase you were unaware. Here's a screenshot of the issue:

    Thanks for looking into it for me :D

  • #1007

    I am aware of this but it is a problem on Blizzard's end. There is nothing I can do about this.

  • #1001

    ok.. bug or not? mouse wheel zoom don't work at all for me. try enable and disable. still no luck!

  • #1006

    I am getting this too and will be investigating.

  • #999

    I have been having a problem wih the screen area around the map well to the left of the map and about half way down my screen that i can not click on the page and move my screen and i have taken out this program and then it went away i dont know if this has to do with enlarging my map or what but it is a problem when i am in a fight and trying to turn and run or move my position thanks for your time its a great program and i love using it.

    Has support for moving the default GM Ticket frame been dropped? Specifically, the "your ticket has been answered" frame. It's just near the minimap on the latest update when I know it's been on the opposite side of the screen for the longest time.

    Or, am I thinking of a different addon that did that? :x

    Aye, ticket support was dropped since the "ticket waiting time" frame was merged into the Main Menu's interface button (the one with the computer icon). It used to be in the top-right hand corner, just to the left of the minimap's default position.

    Since GMs respond a lot faster than they used to (usually 5-10 minutes on my realm) I don't think it's worth adding it back in.
