About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

Tagging as v2.6.2.

--------------------

Ethan Centaurai:
    - Core: Don't open the config window while we're in combat.
    - ShowHide: Trim trailing whitespace.
    - ShowHide: Brave attempt at fixing compatibility problems with MinimapButtonFrame while also trying to avoid taint and deadzones.
    - Comment out Patch 6.0 compatibility stuff for now.
    - QuestTracker: Now hides the new dungeon header when "Show Title" is disabled.
    - Apparently a module’s :OnEnable() is called before the core’s :OnInitialize().
    - Move bossframe anchoring cludge into the core file since multiple modules make use of it.
    - Core: Bump Interface number to 60000.
    - QuestTracker: Remove Wider Objectives Tracker checkbox.
    - QuestTracker: Fix the objectives tracker for Patch 6.0.
    - Position: Fix the objectives tracker for Patch 6.0.

maybe add a option to move the iron man{gear dura} and loot window

I plan to re-add support for the quest/achievement tracking frame when Patch 3.3 comes out as Blizzard appear to have made it non-movable in the latest PTR build.

Three addon minimap buttons are not moving along the path of my square-shaped map.

They are: WebDKP, WIM, and Gatherer.
  • #271
Contact the authors of those addons and ask them to add support for the GetMinimapShape() API provided by this addon.

    Greatest addon !!! Thx a lot ! You're the best ! =)

I love Chinchilla, it's soft and cuddly and it even makes my minimap look good!

More info: The quest tracker is by default locked under the map. If you have advanced quest tracking enabled(default gui), this resolves the issue of chinchilla locking out the quest tracker. However you must disable mouseover and move the quest tracker away from the minimap before you move it, to prevent it from being hidden offscreen.

After a bit of tinkering, I've discovered a 'bug'(since I don't know if it's a bug or a feature) that chinchilla will block all quest tracking whenever the map is in a non-standard location. You can enable the 'location' submodule, but if you move the map, it seems to hog the quest tracker and won't allow you to display any quests. If you move it back, or reset the position of the map, the quest tracker comes back.

When I trying to track any quest by shift-clicking on it in my quest log with Chinchilla Minimap enabled, WoW says that I can't track any more quests...

I have a bug with combat opacity. I like to hide the minimap in combat for my custom ui. When set to zero combat opacity, the minimap hides, but the blips still show through. Also the feature flat out doesn't work in dungeons or caves and such.

I had SimpleMinimap installed before, but for some reason it disabled my minimap for my priest, tryed everything to get it shown again, but then i installed this addone, and had the same problem, no minimap on priest, any 1 know why?

I have the same problem with Chinchilla.
In the beginning (2 days ago) the minimap was just hidden and appeared (including all the icon buttons) only when I held my mouse over it. Now (today) it completly vanished and the strange thing: even when i deactivate Chinchilla the minimap is still gone.

Might be a different addon or a library which cases this mess.

Is it possible that you have Macaroon?
  • #262
Macaroon's latest update added some sort of minmap function that doesn't seem to work with Chinchilla, so if you disable the macaroon minimap in your addons then Chinchlla should work fine again
  • #256
I have an issue with Chinchilla Minimap and Minimap Button Frame. My button frame has all the icon buttons, but they are all jumbled around. Not in a neat orderly row. When I turn off Chinchilla, Minimap Button Frame works like it should. All the buttons are in a nice row. I've tried changing Chinchilla settings but nothing seems to fix the problem. Anyone have a solution?
