About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Show your location coordinates.
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

Hey guys, great addon. Found it just a few minutes ago while looking for a replacement to my SimpleMinimap. Love the expander feature, but I am curious if it is possible to have a toggle to leave it expanded permanently? I multibox and one of my biggest issues is the size I'm able to make the minimap on my herbalist while he's on a smaller window, makes it hard to see herbs and ore, etc. Great addon though, thanks!

Version 2.0.9 solves most if not all of the problems reported to me by you. Please post a ticket if any more problems arise.

One of the reason the Location bar seems to be locked is it has a new indicator flag that hangs from it that shows your instance type.

I wish Blizzard would make up their mind on how they want the objectives frame to work, that is just annoying.

Also, the Mini-map button for the new LFG tool isn't movable currently.

Just pointing these out as they are things I have noticed, figured it might help when making revisions.

Having two main problems since the patch... for one, the default location bar is back (as a few people have mentioned) and there doesn't seem to be a way to remove it. For two, the objectives frame is now hard-locked to the minimap and there is no way to move that either (not like before).

Hoping you can fix these soon. Keep up the good work!

Blizzard seem to have their own location bar above the minimap. Chinchilla was able to hide it before 3.3, but no longer able to. I hope this gets updated soon.
  • #282
Also having trouble with the location bar in 3.3 I've tried numerous settings other than the obvious show/hide options thinking it might be another addon.
Hope they figure it out soon my OCD is going nuts whenever i look at the minimap.
  • #281
Hope so too.. trying to figure out how to manually hide it

I wasn't able to get on the PTR so I haven't been able to sort these out. Once 3.3 goes live in Europe tomorrow I'll be able to work on them.

Chinchilla was having some pretty major issues in the PTR. I do hope when 3.3 goes live that these issues do get resolved. Or are being fixed as I speak. In 3.2 it already had some issues. In that zoom in / zoom out wasn't being appropriated properly in some areas (Dalaran especially). Sometimes minimap icons would stick regardless if move was enabled. And turning move on would let you move them for a short period before bugging out. And suddenly locking themselves. And where turning move on and off for them would see the icon jump slightly each time instead.

Is there a way to set the black area of the minimap (when you're inside, or in a cave, etc) to clear? Not really addon specific, and I'd doubt it, but can anyone c/d?
  • #276
Objectives. There you want to make sure the check-box for Advanced Objectives Tracking is checked. This will allow you to move the frame out from under the mini-map. Once you are done positioning the frame where you want it, make sure to check the Disable Mouseover box.

    Hope this helps =)

I am having a similar problem to the Quest/Achievement tracking frame, how ever in my case I can't seem to be able to seperate the Arena frame for opposing team players. I ahve resolved the Quest/Achievement frame problem but can not seem to find a solution to my current predicament.

for some reason the map keeps on resetting itself either when i reload the ui or when i log out. ill check the settings, they are still there, but it will display the default settings map. ive already uninstalled cleared variables and reinstalled , with the same issue happening. any ideas?
