About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Show your location coordinates.
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

I'm glad to see work is being continued on this addon, it's one of my favorites. I'm seeing a glitch persist from versions past, however - the button border opacity of the calendar and tracking buttons is always at 100% and can never be hidden.

Is there any way to prevent the zoom level on the minimap to stop resetting every time I log in? I want it to stay zoomed out fully and never change.

I'm also having this issue. Any solutions?

set auto zoom to 0 sec :)

So I tried Chucklenuts suggestion and I still kept getting the error. I even unistalled Chinchilla and removed the WTF entry and still no luck. The objective frame had been moved completely off my screen when I put my minimap at the bottom of my ui. So the fix I found was to disable all addons and log in. Be sure Advanced Objectives tracking is checked and uncheck Disable mouseover. I found my objective frame in the lower right corner of my screen. You then can drag it wherever you like. Log out and enable or addons again. The objective frame should stay put and no more error.

To everyone complaining about the watch frame... you can move it yourself outside of chinchilla...

First, Have Chinchilla (or any minimap addon for that matter) in a position where you would be able to see the tracking frame anyway (ie, not the bottom of the screen)

    Now In your interface options
    Go to Objectives
    Enable "Advanced Objectives Tracking"
    Uncheck "Disable Mouseover"

Now, hover your mouse over where the quest objectives would show up, and a frame will fade into view.... you can right click the top of this and unlock the window and move it to where you want it... you can even change the size so you can track more than 5 quests iirc.

It seems that if I set an alarm, it seems that when it goes off the clock appears under the minimap and is glowing even if I disabled showing the clock. The only way to remove it again is to go back into options and re-uncheck the box to show clock.

Also is it just me or is the zoom settings on my minimap reverting back to defaults on each log in? I like to have my minimap zoomed all the way out, but it seems it will revert back to blizzard default zoom settings if I reload or log in and out.

Same problem on the clock topic, haven't noticed to zoom problem.

I'm on a normal live 3.1.2 (awaiting patch maint to finish). Does chinchilla allow me to move the watch frame? Possibly I need a differentaddon to do this or I'm missing some function of chinchilla.
  • #141
So when exactly do you plan on adding the option to move the watch frame properly?
cause im a bit tyred of having my quest traker and arena frames etc showing under the minimap just becase...
the reason for the use of addons is to have more freedom configuring the UI, not to be tied like this.
If the other map addons can move it dont see why you cant. and to be honest i find chichilla superior to the other map addons in all other aspect so i realy didnt want to change :S

please fix it, if you need help just ask il see what i can do.

The quest timer was mas merged into the new Watch Frame in Patch 3.1, so the options were removed. Are you playing on a server which hasn't updated to 3.1?

So I've installed a clean Chinchilla and as long as the map doesn't move the watch frame off screen everything works fine. I don't seem to be able to find the option to move the watch frame. Possibly I'm just blind and unable to find where the ability to mvoe the watch frame from the default below the minimap option is. Or does chinchilla not support moving the watch frame.

I have been looking for a replacement for SimpleMiniMap and it looks like I found one - thanks :)

I have just one request, in SimpleMiniMap you could move the questtimer frame, any chance you could/would add this to chinchilla?
  • #135
I don't know what is happening to you. I can only assume that it's been installed incorrectly, or some files haven't been updated recently. The saved data format was changed in v2.0, so maybe the settings aren't being saved properly.

Delete the entire Chinchilla directory and reinstall the most recent version of the addon. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what will.

I seem to have determined the issue. The tracking frame default to the bottom of the minimap and if hyou have your map so it is offscreen it gives you the error when you try to track things. I've gone through the movable frame options but cannot seem to find a way to move the achievement/quest tracking frame.
