About Chinchilla Minimap

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Show your location coordinates.
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

Tagging as v2.7.4.

Ethan Centaurai:
    - Bump Interface number to 60200.
    - ShowHide: Fixed an oversight that broke the "unread invites" option. Closes ticket 187.
    - ShowHide: Revert back to the reparenting method to hide frames. Should fix problems with the durability indicator.
    - Ping: Fixed a rare error that occurred when a player's class cannot be found for whatever reason.

This isn't just the boss health frames, this is Blizzards default UI Arena Frames as well, probably uses the same frame. Was driving me crazy thinking Pitbull was hiding the frame when it was me the whole time by dragging the mini-map tot he bottom of my screen.

Hopefully this is something they can break out and add to the positions set.

Don't know what happened with the patch, but Chinchilla (v2.0.9) is crashing out the game with a Fatal Exception error on my desktop running Windows XP (I haven't had the crash on my Vista machine) as soon as my character loads into the game (actually, I don't see my char log in, as soon as the loading bar is done I crash out). I've narrowed down the problem to just this mod. All my drivers are current, and XP is updated fully. Any help or thoughts on this??

This sounds like the problem maccormaic had below. (I had my minimap in the square shape, thin border) Think I'll see if the problem remains if I change the minimap shape...
  • #306
also getting this, 2 of 3 login attempts crash with a 132 error, does not happen with chinchilla disabled

and i also am using square with thin border

however i do not think this is a chinchilla problem, more likely something on blizz end once again that they do not want to admit

Also getting a lot of 132's with chinchilla enabled.

So this is why I keep crashing all the time, been driving me nuts. Guess I'll switch my minimap with my Recount until something's done either way. Thanks! ^^

Blizzard have made the quest tracker pretty much how it was back in Patch 3.1, so it is no longer movable or resizable without using addons. Resizing the quest tracker is not an intended feature of Chinchilla, but if you search around there's bound to be an addon somewhere which can resize it. If not, I'll make one myself.

Thanks for the error report Mr Anderson, I knew I forgot something. :)

Get this error when hiding the minimap by clicking on the X...

Message: Interface\AddOns\Chinchilla\Location\Location.lua:87: attempt to call field 'ToggleMinimap' (a nil value)
    Time: 12/10/09 10:47:01
    Count: 1
    Stack: Interface\AddOns\Chinchilla\Location\Location.lua:87: in function

    Locals: this = Chinchilla_Location_Frame_CloseButton {
    0 =
    button = "LeftButton"
    (*temporary) = nil
(*temporary) = "attempt to call field 'ToggleMinimap' (a nil value)"

Having the same issues as mentioned below with the Quest Tracker when I have Chinchilla enabled, ever since I updated this morning. The Quest Tracker window will only display 1-2 quests and it is offset to the left a bit (which I don't actually mind, turns out to be a better location for the tracker anyway).
  • #298
I made a macro to adjust the size of the window. It's not a permanent solution, but it'll tide us over.

    /run WatchFrame:SetHeight(500)

You'll need to run it every time you login to a chacter.
  • #299
I simply added WatchFrame:SetHeight(500) to line 7 of the position LUA, no more running it every time.
  • #300
    Sweet, works like a charm.
  • #305
    Worked great, I love you!
  • #296
I was getting a critical error all night last night, usually at a /rl. Swatter game me a Chinchilla error, then went Fatal exception. I temporarily switched back to Squeenix (which I dislike), and no more critical errors. The problem may be with the location text and the new 10/25 flag that comes up when you are in a raid.

Per BigFire, can the default height of the quest objective mover be set larger at least. With Chinchilla active, it only shows one or two quests unless you use the script he mentions.
