Claw Resources has a separate command from Claw, it is /cres - not /claw!

(commands are separate incase people want to lock or scale one but not the other, or want to run just Claw Resources or just Claw)

Claw is an addon for cat and bear druids that simplifies gameplay and maximizes DPS by doing all the decision making for you.
Unlike most other addons, Claw uses an advanced priority list developed by the people over at the SimulationCraft project and improved by myself for ease of use in actual gameplay.
It will calculate which ability would give you the highest DPS (and TPS) during the current combat situation.
The addon is comprised of three icons, left to right they are:

  • The Previously Used Ability icon - Displays the last correct ability you used (to show you that you actually used it before the icon changed, can be disabled)
  • The Best Choice Ability icon - Displays the best ability to use for maximum DPS during the current combat situation
  • The Cooldown Ability icon - Displays when you should use an ability that is off the global cooldown or has a long cooldown (can be disabled)

Other features of Claw includes:

  • Glowing Ability Buttons - Your ability buttons glow when they become the best choice ability
  • Know When You Miss - A red border will appear on the previously used icon when your attack misses or gets parried or dodged
  • Moveable, Lockable, and Scalable - Each icon can separately be moved to wherever you like on the screen, then locked or scaled to any size
  • Resource Bars AddOn - No dependencies! Must be enabled within the AddOns menu on the character selection screen

Slash command for Claw user configurable options: /claw

Claw Resources is an included optional addon also for cat and bear druids (will also work for rogues!) that displays vital information such as your combo points or lacerate stacks (no longer vital), energy or rage, and global cooldown in a simple and elegant fashion. It will also play sounds when you reach a specified amount of combo points (default is 5). The sound files are random quotes from Devil May Cry, half are Dante, half are Vergil. I don't even play that game but my guild leader is obsessed with them and uses my addons so there you have it - her idea. I liked it.

  • Why is it called Claw?
    It just seemed cool at the time and wasn't taken by any other addon, it's easy to remember as well. Then again, it's one ability you won't ever see again... R.I.P. Claw ability

  • Where is it? I don't see it!
    Both addons hide themselves when you aren't targetting something you're able to attack. Try selecting a training dummy to move it around and such.
    Keep in mind that cat priorities will not show up unless you are in feral specialization, and bear priorities will not show up unless you are in guardian specialization.

  • It's showing up in other specs, I don't want it to!
    It should be hidden in restoration and balance specialization, if you don't want to see it in bear use /claw bear off. Don't want it in cat? /claw cat off

  • Is there a way to turn the rotation helper off? I only want the energy/combo point bars.
    As stated above, the resource addon is standalone (no dependencies). Just disable Claw on the addons screen and keep Claw Resources on.

  • How do I turn that voice off when I get to 5 combo points??
    I'd appreciate you using /claw to look at the commands, then noticing the message saying how to reach Claw Resources which is /cres, and then seeing the line that says enable/disable sound effect alert at X combo points. Well, it states quite clearly that it's /cres cpalert off.

    hi.

    first, thank you for this great addon!

    now i have some questions please.

    claw suggest me often "rake" 2 times successively although it is already on the target.

    next thing is when i use the "glyph of savagery", claw suggest me at 5 combo points to use savagery. i think its not correctly or?

    sorry for my bad english and i hope you can help me with my questions.

    It's likely telling you to Rake after a Healing Touch, it shouldn't do 2 Rakes in a row. It probably wanted you to put Rake up because it was falling off, and the 1 or 2 ticks of Rake between the Healing Touch and the next Rake would have been more damage than a Shred. I've tried different changes to the SimulationCraft script to change that situation to Shred -> HT -> Rake but it nets a dps loss of like 100, even with energy regen factored in to only do Rake -> HT -> Rake when energy and energy regen is low (because first Rake might be ticking twice in this case). Anyways, it wants you to refresh Rake early if your previous Rake wasn't affected by Dream of Cenarius and also checks to make sure the damage % modifier on the new Rake will be more than the old one.

    5cp Savage Roars happen most often because it gives you the best preparation for another Rip, leading to less downtime most of the time. Glyph of Savagery's 0cp use is only good for situations where you don't have any combo points and your Savage Roar fell off and none of your abilities will have the Savage Roar modifier on it. And of course at the beginning of a fight where you have no combo points to Savage Roar.

    I look at this and am always envious.
    I'm not going to change my main, but I have this for an alt.
    My main is a hunter - has always been BM.
    As you seem to have a rogue variant, could you do one for (BM) hunters?

    I've read that Bitten's SpellFlash: Hunter works for Beast Mastery Hunter, however I have no experience using the SpellFlash addons and how exactly they work. I'm sorry I haven't got a hunter to try, nor do I want to level one or download the PTR for one. :(

    Seems like on several occasions  it suggests 'rake' a bit too early (a few seconds early).  Its not a HUGE deal as I can manually wait for the correct time and get an extra shred in there.  

    But most importantly can you make it so that as soon as clearcast procs the suggestion changes from whatever it may be to shred?  After all, that is max dps.

    And is there, or could there be any way to turn certain suggestions on/off?  I don't really need prowl or ravage to be suggested, I know when I'll need to do them.

    Maximum dps for rake will include refreshing it when you have Tiger's Fury up.

    I got rid of all that prowl stuff in my new release. Clearcast procs will be spent on Thrash or Shred/Ravage (if Incarnation up)/Mangle (if front command on).

    Pick up the update when it shows, 4.0.1 is for 85s pre-MoP release date.

    The "Glowing Ability Buttons" feature is not working for me, its turned on in the settings. I'm using Bartender too, could that be the problem? But in your screenshot, you seem to be using it too. Very nice addon btw!

    Hey, in the screenshot it's actually Dominos. I don't have Bartender, but you may be using an extension action bar for your abilities. My current implementation only goes through the default action bar buttons to check for spells. Since Dominos reuses the Blizzard action button naming, my addon is compatible with it. (and Dominos extension bars I think) Try moving your abilities to a different action bar and seeing if it shows up. I will have to download Bartender someday and figure it out...

    is there any way you can get cat rotation to show up in guardian spec. as you know you can now tank or dps while you in heal spec and you can  kitty dps or heal in bear spec. is there any way you can get it to work for guardian spec for those times where all you need is one tank and you dont have a cat spec to change 2 and would be nice if you can fix it for heal spec also.

    There's too much difference in spells for me to apply the cat priority list to other specs now. Also when you're going cat in another spec no matter how bad you are are at hitting your spells your dps is going to be about the same. It's just not worth it.

    Are you targetting an attackable foe?

    If so, try deleting Claw.lua, Claw.lua.bak, or anything Claw in your WTF folder.

    and try /claw reset, most likely problem is it was dragged off the screen.

    If it doesn't show up at all, not even the resources, then you're probably a feral death knight. I run into those all the time, tricky buggers.

    I only have 1 global afaik and that is Claw and Claw_Resources. But if you're still getting replies from slash commands then that's not the issue... your problem is...

    Who knows.

    It could be that one thing that always drives me insane. Addon called ActionButton:Show() during combat lockdown. <grunts> But I seem to only get that when I have another error...

    Yeah...go find a training dummy or a critter, there's really not much you can adjust.
