About CombustionHelper

The goal of this addon is to allow easy optimizing of the mage talent Combustion. It tracks all relevant Dots on your target, your cooldown of Combustion so you'll be able to use the talent with maximum effectiveness.

To summarize the new talent : it will add a new Dot on effect on your target which will be equal to the sum of Ignite and Pyroblast Dots.

With this addon, you'll know if one of your Dot is missing.

CombustionHelper is composed of the main addon and 2 bundled other addons : CauterizeCooldown and MageBombTracker. Here is their main features :

CombustionHelper main addon:

  • Automatic switch depending if combustion is in your spellbook or not.
  • Autohide out of combat is off by default, use config panel to configure it. You can choose between no autohide, autohide out of combat or autohide when combustion is on cd.
  • Reset variables option because i know some of you like to bug the thing by switching options while in combat/autohide is running and stuff. If you bug it, just reset and log off so you start with a clean state.
  • Option to hide all config messages in chat.
  • Dot tick damage report mode. This is not the expected combustion damage report because of the complexity of ignite, rather an information about how much damage the last tick did so you know if it's powerful enough.
  • Pyroblast/Hot Streak report mode which will warn you when wasted an Hot Streak proc will letting it be refreshed before getting used and at end of combat will report number of refreshed Hot Streak.
  • Timer for Combustion Dot on target.
  • Flamestrike tracker supporting regular flamestrike.
  • Tooltips for option panel settings, no more obscure settings.
  • Ignite munching report, so you know how much damage you lost because of buggy mechanics.
  • Graphical options so you can make it the way you want.
  • Localisation in English, Deutsch, French and Chinese (feel free to report typos…) (thanks to Hambo and Plueschbaer from MMO-C forums for deutsch version)
  • Threshold option to activate color change of background when Ignite cross the specified value.
  • Audio warning when ignite value reach the threshold.
  • Combustion tick damage and number prediction.
  • Missing Pyromaniac buff warning (who wouldn't want 10% more damage on main nuke ?)
  • Heating Up available warning

CauterizeCooldown :

A simple cooldown showing Cauterize cooldown.

You can change the scale, alpha and Frame level. Also enabled by default a timer like OmniCC/CooldownCount. You can choose to autohide the addon when your cauterize is off cooldown. It will autohide too for classes other than mage. Also feature a customizable warning message which can be outputted to vicinity, party, raid or yell channel. There is also another optional warning when Ice Block is up. You can set whatever SharedMedia sound you want as an alert.

MageBombTracker :

This addon track all the new mage bombs and flamestrike cooldown which will be available in patch 5.0.4 and MoP. Previously bundled with CombustionHelper, it's now available as a stand alone addon. It show them with a list which feature :

  • current target marker
  • target name
  • raid marker
  • time remaining

Other nice features are :

  • Alert when missing a bomb
  • Alert when overwriting a bomb before last tick
  • End of fight report

Fully customisable and lightweight, all you need to monitor your bombs !
Available in English and French for now, submit your translation for more.

Changes from 2.xx versions ?

  • No more crit debuff tracking, it's gone for mages.
  • No more support for FrostFire Bolt, useless for Combustion and i doubt anyone used it.
  • No more Impact support, new inferno blast replaced aura procs.

Use Interface Panel -> Addons for full config or /combustionhelper for bringing up directly the option panel.
As always, report me bugs and requests.

Donation is totally optional but all funds will be used to buy chocolate for my wife so she'll be a bit less mad at me spending so much time coding.

    Bomb Reseting

Hey i am trying to set up my new computer and i am having trouble with the bomb tracker reseting after every log in. I have set it to lock and unlock and i have deleted the saved varuables to this once. I have not had the whole addon up and running as i am arcane right now and dont have combustion and i dont ahve a spec that is fire as of right now. My laptop that i was on had no issues with this moving it stayed where i put it. If you could help me that would be great. Thanks in advance!

*edit* just tried loging out and deleting the saved variables via curse and still jumps back to the middle. it does stay the size that i put it at just doesnt stay where i put it.

try this beta and report me please

    will look into this

oh, and just find another bug with magebombtracker.

When you set direction upward, when you get more than 3 or 4 bomb applyed at the same time, its reset itself to go downward .....

  • #663

By the way, your addons is SOOOOO usefull, keep your good work!

    But ...

there is an annoying bug in combustionhelper actually.

When you are using the magebombtracker in arcane spec, each time you apply more than 1 bomb at a time, the position of the mage bomb tracker is reset to its default right next up left corner where combustionhelper box should be if you were in fire spec.

its really annoying ... in arcane spec i position the magebombtracker right under my toon in the middle of the screen but each time i apply a bomb at more than 1 mobs .... it reset ....

    Can you fix this plz?

  • #666

I am also having this problem. I have tried leaving it both free and locked. Sometimes it will stay for awhile but when I enter a dungeon or raid it resets back to the middle.

  • #668

does using /CombustionFrameresize() move the magebombtracker window aswell ?

  • #665

Is your magebombtracker position set to free ?

  • #657

So it would be extremely helpful if you could update this addon so that instead of just calculating a single ignite on the target it insteads sums up all the ignite's that have accumulated over the 4 second period of the initial Ignite. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but would make this addon much more valuable as opposed to having to do the math yourself looking at each individual Ignite and guessing when the best time would be. Personally because I have used this addon I was even noticing that I was losing dps because I would base my combustion off of the high Ignite not the accumulation of the Ignite debuff over the 4 seconds where the debuff stacks (which is my fault for not reading the tooltips correctly). It would be nice to see this change if you can make it happen though

  • #658

Quoted from wowhead : "If the target is currently affected by your Ignite, it also burns the target for additional damage equal to the damage per tick of the Ignite every 1 sec for 10 sec."

To me it means that the combustion damage is based on the current ignite value ticking on your target. This info is given directly by the tooltip of the debuff on your target, there is no need to calculate the ignite which happened before, this is realtime info, nothing is calculated anymore.

So i don't really understand why would you want to know how much ignite have been accumulated. Furthermore the only ignite taken in account when applying combustion damage is yours, there is no other ignite and other mage's ignite are not taken in account.

Before the MoP change i tried to calculate the remaining damage of unapplied ignite by calculating the damage done and dividing by the number of ticks but this have been proved to be totally unreliable due to ignite munching. You already have the best way to know your combustion output unless you discovered a way i wasn't aware of.

  • #662

the tooltip value is updated in realtime, not every 2 or 4 secs, if you hit with a fire spell anytime, the value goes up and will be taken in account accuratly for the combustion. If the tooltip weren't updating that fast, it would be useful to compute that ignite damage but it's not.

so far and unless so changes i don't know of appeared, the value shown in the tooltip and give by the unitaura query is the one used in the combustion damage. You could verify that easily by noting the value shown in the combustion predicter (taken from unitaura) and comparing the combustion report which happen a few secs after combustion wear off (value taken from combatlog). they should be the same, hence no need for a different way of calculating ignite differently.

  • #661

Well you have the Combustion part correct, but what about the Ignite tooltip that reads "If this effect is reapplied, any remaining damage will be added to the new Ignite". So from the time of the first Ignite debuff you have essentially 4 seconds to reapply Ignite before the first one wears off. This is what Combustion is calculating not just a single Ignite but all the Ignites that are on the target over that 4 second interval.

I am getting an error for this add on each time I boot the WoW launcher. It's telling me the file is corupt and unreadable. Also, it is now begining to cause WoW to crash, even though I have it turned off. I was unable to uninstall it from the curse client or from the direct file in my add on's folder. Any ideas on how to remove this? Also, I tried to just reinstall it hoping to over write the corupt file, but that didn't work either.

  • #656

i'm afraid that your HD is dying or you have some serious file permission problem. Unchecking addon in the addon list shouldn't cause wow to crash and you should be able to delete the files easily by going into the interface/addons/ folder and manually deleting them.

Unfortunately there is nothing more i can do as this is not related to the coding or the addon itself.

  • #653

I really love the mod and mage bomb feature.  I'm having an issue with the magebomb tracker..  For no reason at all it'll disappear off my screen.  Once this happens I need to go back into settings and reset the mage bomb and i have to customize it all over again.  It's a great concept however it becomes aweful annoying with you have keep resetting the values 4-5 times a night..  I've also run into issues like "dracula" where you have no ability to move the tracker even though it's not locked.
