About Compact Runes


Compact Runes is a re-write of DocsDebugRunes. It preserves the compact UI but adds additional features.


It tracks the following items:

  • Runes (shown horizontally or vertically) with an optional setting to show a numeric timer for each rune.
  • Runic Power
  • Diseases and time left.
  • Necrotic Plague, if talented, replaces the standard disease bars. It displays the time left and stacks.
  • Sudden Doom, Shadow Infusion, and Dark Transformation for Unholy
  • Rime/Freezing Fog and Killing Machine for Frost
  • Blood Charges for the Blood Tap talent.
    • By default a new bar is used that replaces the Dark Transformation bar. If you are Unholy, the bars are placed side-by-side.
    • You can also enable it as a proc. It is off by default.
  • Blood Shield
  • LDB/Minimap Icon Support
  • RC Procs are indicated with a white border.
  • RE procs, RC procs, and wasted Blood Charges tracking in the LDB tooltip
  • Crimson Scourge is shown as a proc.
  • Out of melee range is indicated by a red border. This option can be disabled.
  • An optional "Almost ready" rune state. The alpha can be adjusted independently for it.
  • A Plague Leech proc, if enabled, is shown when the Plague Leech is usable. Plague Leech requires two fully depleted runes and diseases on the target. You can optionally require that Outbreak will be off cooldown too.
  • A Soul Reaper proc that shows up if you have the spell, your target is under 35% health, and Soul Reaper is not on cooldown. The cooldown also includes runes not being ready.
  • Cooldown Bars per spec. A configurable row of icons to show the cooldown on abilities and certain trinkets.

    - * Add vertical mode for runes. * New settings to control the height, width, and spacing of the runes in vertical mode. * Add option to change rune spacing for the standard horizontal mode. * Fix a positioning bug for cooldown bars.
    - * Add options to show/hide recharge numbers based on recharing vs depleted. * Add initial support for a vertical rune layout.

    When I get the Runic Corruption buff, a white border flashes around my runes. Since Runic Corruption is additive, I don't think I really need to know when its active or isn't. Is there any way to turn this off, I can't find it anywhere in the settings?

    How's you get the timers on the actual runes?

    If you're looking for the numeric timer on the recharging runes, look in the settings under the main Compact Runes, look in the section Recharging Runes, and enabled "Show Timers".  It will then show the seconds left to a rune is recharged.

    I'm having an issue with the CD tracker, it seems to work fine with Evil Eye of Galakras, starting the countdown as the trinket buff falls off, but while it shows the icon for Thok's Tail Tip, it does not start a countdown when the trinket buff activates, or falls off. 

    No errors are showing up, and I'm using version 1.2

    That trinket wasn't setup properly in the code.  It is just a trinket with a proc.  I submitted an alpha that hopefully will fix the issue.  You can download it from here:

    Any trinket listed in the addon should work.  The only trinkets I haven't addressed really are RPPM since I haven't decided what would be intuitive to display for them.  Perhaps time since last proc...

    Im having a problem with the cooldown bar always resetting to the center of the screen whenever I load into a new zone or instance. Anyway to fix this?

    I have not seen this problem.  Are any other settings not working correctly?  One possible problem could be that the settings are not saving correctly.  Perhaps there is an issue with the permissions on the files where the settings are saved.

    I just uploaded an alpha version that gives you the option to change the rune color.  I can look into the rest later.  The rest of the UI will be in fixed positions so perhaps less of an issue.  The runes should be configurable.  All the runes have a ready color and a recharging color.  The recharge is darker and the alpha is low.

    Everything is working fine so far, on the 5.4 PTR. You might want to add a tracker for 2p and 4p T16 bonus

    That's the 2p:

    The unholy 4p is working fine (extension of DT) and just bumps the DT bar back to full and increases the duration.

    The frost 4p is - A buff that increases rune regen that you should add aswell.

    And you're good to go!

    Thanks for the update.  I was on the PTR testing it but I didn't think to look at the tier bonuses yet.  I'll look into that.

    How do you think those should be reflected in the UI?   The 2 piece could be a timer bar and stack count.  The others would be different.

    I added both combat and out of combat alpha control in the latest alpha of it.

    You can control the transparency / dimming on it from 1 (full) to 0 (hidden).
