About DBM-Archaeology

Description:

Originally just put in DBM-Core as a bit of humor during a test phase. The sounds became quite popular and when removed from last DBM release got numerous requests from users wanting them back. Since archaeology sounds don't really belong in the base mod, I decided to bring that feature back in plugin form!.

Now you can enjoy all your old god whispers in your dig sites. What this mod does is play a random C'thun and Yogg Saron whispers from the game files any time you loot a keystone. Archaeology is a profession meddling with the ancient artifacts of azeroth yet no one is paying any mind ot you. This plugin gives archaeology a bit of RP when the old gods whisper you as if they are noticing you meddling with things you should not be, giving archaeology that feel it should have had to begin with.

TODO:

Get locals (especially for loot message) so everyone can enjoy plugin. Right now I can only guarentee full functionality on English local clients.

    I hope we will be seeing some silly DBM - Pokemon mod when mist of pandaria comes with its pet battle system. If you are not going to do it with full sounds and everything, someone else surely is Im sure ^-^

    Haha! My friend and I both thought the voices were part of unmodded WoW. I got really creeped out doing archaeology and mentioned it to him; he was like "yeah, that happens after you get to about 125 skill or so." XD Fooled both of us! I wonder how many people are like us and didn't realize that it was DBM. Awesome job, makes so much sense lore-wise that it really should have been part of WoW all along.

    YAY!! While this feature caused quite a bit of "WTF was THAT??!?!" when I first ran into it, I miss it now that it's gone.

    if anyone has a puzzle box of yogg saron can you please do /combatlog, use it, then /combatlog again to turn it off, logout of game, open your combatlog.txt from within your logs folder, and paste the entry for the box here? i want to add a sound event to this but i haven't gotten box yet to log how it affects combat log.

    Tried to help, did exactly as you said but no log file combatlog.txt or anything even close would show up, sorry! I tried multiple times just to be sure. If you still need the data I'd be happy to help.

    yeah i finally got mine and it doesn't have a useful log entry, and the whisper would be too much work, plus i wanted to trigger sound on box use, not the delay whisper, oh well.

    Any idea how to adjust the volume? Love the voices but they no longer whisper! They are screaming at me! haha

    they will use whatever your master sound channel is r2 honors whatever dbm core's setting is. if they are loud, it's cause your speakers are loud. as of 4.0.6 it's standard for most addons to use master volume instead of SFX volume, so that it can support addons ounds that are louder then game sounds, as well as support playing sounds even if SFX are turned off. dbm is no diff, you can disazble that behavior though in dbm core options, unchecking master will return all sounds, including archaeology back to sfx channel.

    You know, I could have SWORN that those voices were from WoW itself. Kudos on creating something so awesome and lore-merging.
