About Deep Throat Shotgun

I've been disappointed with the "pop-pop" sound of the guns in WoW so I recorded the full-throated roar of my Remington 12-gauge and smoothed it out for this release. This gun is the most powerful I own with a full-choke 32 inch barrel that will ring your chime any time. This tiny sound addon substitutes the roar of my 12 gauge for the "pop-pop" of the game guns. I hope you enjoy it.

To Install: Extract the "Sound" folder contained in this zip file into your World of Warcraft folder. This will create a folder called "Sound" under (inside) the World of Warcraft folder. When the game runs it will substitute any sounds it finds there for equivalent sounds in the game. Do not use the Curse Client Auto-installer. It is a known problem that it does not handle sound mod addons properly.

To Uninstall: Rename or delete the "Sound" folder under (inside) your game folder.

Notes on Installation: Zip/Unzip programs vary in how they work. The end result must be that a folder called "Sound" is created under (inside) your World of Warcraft folder. Restart game after installation. (If your Unzip program is confusing you, try unzipping to your Desktop and then simply copying the "Sound" folder to your WoW folder.)

Orimus seems to have his sound package working.  I've used his mod to help determine the pathing for the files and their filenames, so this addon should be working again.

If you want to check out Orimus' addon, you can find it here.

Yeah, Coolness.  The new CASC file system that Blizzard rolled out doesn't work with the pathing and filenames of the old MPQ archives.  I'm looking into it but the new Content Addressable Storage Container protocols are new enough that even the viewers are in beta.

    More later.

    Doesn't work in WoD

I appreciate the work in this addon.  When I heard the new gun sounds in the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch, I came running to a solution.  However, I've followed these instructions exactly and my ingame gun shots still produce that horrible crossbow type sound; I don't think this addon works quite yet with the way WoW's new data structure is set up.

How do I add the following sounds to this addon or one from this page, http://sounds.stoutman.com/sounds.php?Category=Warfare.

The one I want to have for my weapon is the 44Magnum.wav.

Would you please tell me how to do it. My email is [email protected]

    Thank you

Sure.  Glad to help.  First find your "Data" folder in your World of Warcraft folder.  Enter your "Data" folder and check to see if there is a folder under there called "Sound."  If it's not there, simply create one.

Under the "Sound" folder, create a folder called "Item."  Under the "Item" folder, create a folder called "Weapons."  Under the "Weapons" folder, create a folder called "Gun."

Under the "Gun" folder is where you want to put the sound file that you want to play whenever you fire your gun.  I've emailed to you, the sound file you said you wanted to use.  It's renamed to match what the game expects to find and it's converted from .wav to the ogg/vorbis format.

    Good luck with it.

Oh i just installed this, copied the gun sound to the gun folder in wow sounds. Worked like a charm!

    Gave it a Thumbs UP!

    Thanks!

I'm glad you like it Crazyjane1.  I create these things mostly for myself and then share them on Curse.  Some have been requested by other players to remedy this or that irritating sound.  Usually I credit the user with the idea.  I'm glad they're useful.

I've started playing my hunter again and had the same frustrations with the gun sounds. Are you planning on adding any 'reload' sound files?

I'll look into it, but I'm not sure what sounds would be better.  Let me check and see.

I downloaded another, similar, addon a while ago (can't remember the name).
It used the same file for each of the three shot sounds (GunFire01 - GunFire03), whereas this has a different one for each of the three.
What it does have though, that you may want to add to this, is a modification for each of the three reload sounds (GunLoad01 - GunLoad03).
It's not an essential thing to have - I took out the "Fire" sounds from that addon, replaced them with the "Fire" sounds from this one and left the "Load" sounds from that one in - but rounds out the pack nicely.

Also, you like your Loque sounds. My preference varies. When there are several raiding hunters with that pet, having them all roaring can be a bit much. Could you do a pack to silence all related Loque noises?

    Keep up the good work.

    Keep up the good work.

This one quiets all Loque sounds by 5 decibels.

If that's not quiet enough, leave me a PM and I'll silence them altogether for you.

I picked up the Wrathfire Hand Cannon in Shadow Labyrinth from Grandmaster Vorpil a couple of weeks ago and I thought it looked appropriate on a Goblin.  I use a Lavabolt Crossbow on my Belf hunter and usually prefer bows but I've thoroughly enjoyed the guns on my Goblin, particularly with the Deep Throat Shotgun sound mod.

Yes I have two hunters.  I brought up the Goblin hunter to handle my auction house duties and to receive mail from toons in the field.  She does a pretty good job and she gets vendor discounts!

I like this sound replacement for the in game gun. The game's original pop-pop-pop was distracting. Now it sounds more powerful, way more immersive. Thanks!
