About Diction

Diction allows you to specify a list of words to auto-correct as you type.

There's no in-game configuration, so all words need to be added via words.lua, which is simple enough. I've included some example words from this list to get you started, feel free to add your own.

This addon is primarily aimed at those people who always make the same spelling mistake, even though they know it's wrong, and as such is meant to be a very lightweight approach to specify the correct spellings of such words.

    @ Veyilla: Ich habe inzwischen so manches ausprobiert mit Diction. Zum Beispiel habe ich ein Wort eingegeben, das dann durch einen kompletten Text ersetzt wird. Hierbei muß nur darauf geachtet werden, daß die deutschen Sonderzeichen ersetzt werden (z.B. das kleine ü durch \195\188)
    ["grz"] = "Herzlichen Gl\195\188ckwunsch!!!!",
    Wenn du diese Zeile eingibst in der LUA-Datei, dann wird durch deine Eingabe von "grz" im Spiel automatisch "Herzlichen Glückwunsch!!!" ausgegeben.
    Inzwischen habe ich jede Menge Kürzel hinzugefügt ;)

    @ Veyjilla: Du brauchst hierfür keine gesonderte Übersetzung für den deutschen Client. Schließlich fügst du selbst die Worte von Hand hinzu, und zwar in der Datei words.lua Diese Datei kannst du ohne Probleme mit dem Editor auf deinem Rechner öffnen, verändern und abspeichern.

    I've tested Diction with 2000 words added to the Lua file, and memory usage seems to peak at 100kb.

    If you're worried about this consuming your memory/CPU, don't be. I imagine the average user won't add anywhere near 2000 words, which means it's safe to assume memory usage will remain less than 100kb. I made this addon because I really couldn't find an alternative which was as lightweight - I don't like the idea of bloated addons with hundreds of options, which is why Diction doesn't have any in-game configuration.

    edit: yes it is exactly what i expect: we can add any word we want. but i want to ask something; will its memory cost increase if i add more words?

    Just how lightweight is it, in terms of memory usage? The reason I trashed MisSpelled was because the addon was using almost 1MB of memory--how much does this use, on average? If it uses less than 100Kb--on average--it really sounds like a great addon.

    That was pretty much my thought on this addon. There are other addons that allow you to do the same thing... with in game configurations. So it seems to me that this one won't do well without an ingame config ability.
