About Doom_CooldownPulse

NOTE: Because I no longer play WoW, I cannot actively maintain this AddOn. At this time, the AddOn works fine, and I will continue to make an effort to fix bugs as patches are released. If you are an AddOn author and want to contribute to the code base, please feel free to submit a pull request to the AddOn's GitHub repository

What does it do?

Ever wanted to know when a certain ability will come off cooldown, but you're too caught up in a fight to notice? Doom_CooldownPulse is designed to fix that problem! It flashes the icon of the ability in the middle of your screen whenever it becomes usable again.

Great! Now.. how do I set it up?

Doom_CooldownPulse requires no initial setup; just install and you're good to go! However, the options frame (which is accessable by typing /dcp) allows very easy customization. You can change all of the following:

  • Icon size
  • Icon position (press the unlock button)
  • Fade in time
  • Fade out time
  • Max opacity (transparency)
  • Max opacity hold time
  • Animation scaling (how big/small it gets when it flashes)
  • Cooldowns to ignore
  • Overlay color for pet cooldown pulses

It is intended to be very easy to customize, and your changes take effect immediately. You can see how your settings will look by pressing the "Test" button, or reset them to the default settings by pressing the "Defaults" button.

Isn't this very similar to another addon, JIM's Cooldown Pulse?

Yes, the concept was originally developed by JIM. However, JIM has since gone MIA due to his new job and no longer updates his addon. I was able to get in touch with him, and he is very much supportive of Doom_CooldownPulse. Doom_CooldownPulse is neither an updated version nor a direct clone, but instead an alternative option with the same concept.

    I use to use jim's cooldown pulse back in the day and I missed it so much. Thanks for the revival of a great addon!

    Any way to make this show text as well as the icon?  Like to show "Blink ready!", or "Freeze ready!"?

    Some spells have similar icons, and it'd help to have the text flash along with the icon.  Still really helpful!

    Hey uhh..so I loaded up 1.2.8..says it's 4.2 compatible but I have to check load out of date addons to enable it :-/

     

    In any case..way to be with the update..just thought I'd share that 1 thing I noticed :-)

    Yeah, forgot to update that small detail. Oops! Still works regardless -- it's just a silly number Blizzard uses to ensure AddOns mark themselves as up to date. It's been updated in this most recent release, so you should no longer have to mark "Load out of date AddOns" (until next patch, anyways).

    Hello im positng about a problem im finding with my doom cooldown pulse. As a combat rogue that uses this addon and find it very useful it does not work well with the spec, i do not know if any other combat rogue are having trouble, but as combat rogue ther spec allows us to deduct 2 seconds of our adrenaline rush and killing spree cooldowns every combopoint used in a finisher so a 5cp eviserate takes of 10 seconds off the cooldown from adrenaline rush and killing spree, but the addon does not calculate for it so the addon doesnt tell me when KS and AR is up do to that i would LOVE to see a fix for it as i love this addon but am finding it an inconvience beacuase of the ability that combat rogue have to take off seconds form the cooldown, but you would think that the addon was programmed to account for that ability in the spec no?

    Okay, problem is this:
    The parameters sourceFlags2 and destFlags2 appeared in patch 4.2 for COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED which makes spellID be the 12th parameter instead of the 10th.

    FIX:

    pretty simple: in Doom_Coldownpulse.lua, line 178
    replace this line:

    with THIS line:

    Shoud work again as expected. I've only tested it for the water elementals frost nova however.

    I think this badly needs an update?
    Everytime im doing frost nova with my water elemental, an error occour??
    Its extremely annoying.

    I am having trouble getting this addon to ignore cooldowns. I have used both the spell name and spell ID and still can't get it to ignore them.

    Add-On works and is lightely nice but doesn't regard the Cooldown reduction from Shadowfiend when Mind Flay critts....is there a function to make it being regarded?
