About Elkano's BuffBars

EBB provides groups of statusbar style indicators to show (de)buffs currently affecting your char or some other units (currently focus, pet and target). For the player, it can also show indicators for temporary enchants place on it's weapons.

Due to changes Blizzard made with WoW 4.x it's no longer possible to cancel buffs without the use of secure frames. Currently EBB limits canceling of buffs to out-of-fight since using SecureAuraHeader would have required a major code restructuring. This will be coming in a later version.

Version 2.x is a total recode based on the Ace2 framework which became necessary in order to support some of the longtime wanted and suggested features. It's now possible to show different groups of bars which can be configured in many ways. Each group can be assigned an individual look and filter settings. EBB can be configured via a dropdown menu which is accessible via chat (/ebb config), FuBar plugin or (for the group settings) by right clicking the groups anchor. After setting up a group, its anchor can be hidden by alt-left clicking a bar or the anchor itself in order to lock the group in place.

In order to get additional bar textures and fonts for EBB simply install SharedMedia which is available for download under

I am having a serious issue with the addon for some reason. I was using it for couple of months before this new patch came out, until out of the blue the addon simply stopped to function for an entirely unseen reason. I let it go because I was very busy IRL, but now that I have more free time I tried to download the newer version, and the issue persists. Any ideas/thoughts about configuration of the game that I might've done wrong? Any slash commands I can type ingame that could force it to display unless there was installing issue?
  • #1723
I'm not exactly sure what isn't working here, but concerning slash commands, try "/ebb" or "/ebb config". Also, if you aren't using the r166 beta, make sure you activated "load out of date addons". You could also try to delete the addon's saved variables to reset it to initial settings if the other things didn't help.

I tried the suggestions, and it worked. Guess somehow it went into suspend mode which I didn't even notice existed in the addon. Cheers for the assistance, love the addon.

Got a little problem: wanted to add a new group where all buffs with less then 40 seconds will be shown. But it shows the timeless buffs too. If i try to set the filter of timeless buffs to whitelist and add a buff i never will have and won't disturb me it does not show the other buffs with less then 40 seconds eighter...
  • #1722
Setting timeless buffs to whitelist will only show timeless buffs in that group. So you most likely want to set them to blacklist in order to not have them shown.

Since the latest update, the anchors are enabled even though I have them disabled. When I create a new profile, the buffbars are not visible at all. Any ideas?
  • #1719
2.3.1 will most likely have activated configuration mode for all bar groups since I changed some options.

And for the new profile, are the groups created? Do they show up in the config menu?

Thanks for the quick reply, that was it.

For some reason Elk Buff-bars do not show the "soar" buff/count you get while doing the "Call the Flock" daily quest from Matoclaw in Mt Hyjal. I had to disable the addon to be able to see the buff.
Just wanted to let you know.
    Thanks for a great addon.

getting an error string on this for the current version, no bars showing either.

This is only part of a stack trace and the real error is missing. Also only the libraries are mentioned so it could also be an other addon using the same libraries. Install !BugGrabber and BugSack to get a more useful error output :/

I'm not sure if it was a recent update but I can no longer get my bars to snap to each other. I want to have my buffs and then the debuffs snapped underneath (pretty sure this is how it was default lol) but the bar won't connect to the bottom of another one. I thought it might be one of my addons but I've tested this with no addons at all and am not sure if this is an issue with the addon or perhaps I'm doing something wrong (might not be unlikely lol).

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I love using this addon. =)
  • #1714
I didn't change anything regarding snapping so placing one group near an other such that either the sides or the middles are within 25px of each other should make them snap.
There are some disabled debug outputs in ElkBuffBar.lua's StickGroup function (around line 1000) that you could enable to help see what's going on.

I'll be honest, I'm not that great at editing code. What part do I need to change? I messed with it yesterday but couldn't figure out what part I needed to change.
  • #1725
there are some self:Print lines with -- or --~ in front of them, just remove these chars
