About ErrorFilter

About ErrorFilter

Are you fed up with the silly errors that spam your screen? Want to get rid of "Not enough rage" or "Not enough energy"? Then you have come to the right place. ErrorFilter manages the errors that are displayed in the blizzard UIErrorsFrame. It can be set to hide the ErrorFrame completely, drop all errors or filter the messages and discard those selected.

Slash Commands

Use "/erf" or "/ErrorFilter" to open the options menu.

Here you can select the operation mode and change the errors that are filtered.

Ahh cheers buddy for this awesome addon.

I was just thinking of how to do this in ICC the other day... remembering an old trick re: macroing every spell to disable errors, cast, then enable. Lots of hassle.

You, sir, have saved me much research, time and effort. I applaud you.
    *applause*

    You're my hero!!!!

I like the addon, works perfectly in esMX (Spanish) WoW, and it removes the red text from my interface, which reduces clutter, but it also has hidden the quest update text such as "(insert name) slain: 5/10" so as a result, I have an interesting time making sure my dailies are complete. What filter can be deleted to show my quest progress text again?
  • #27
I had the same problem. What fixed it is to make the errors show up again "/erf show" as this (/erf hide) gets rid of everything. So once you have them back again you need to hide each error message one at a time. "/erf list" gives you the list of most messages to filter out individually. And for any that are not listed (I noticed a few) just add them the same why as the others but with the new error message (eg /erf add you are in combat)

    Hope this helped. =)

is there any way to disable the sounds as well?
  • #25
Use the game options to disable sound:

Error Speech" needs to be unticked
  • #42
There was a simple add on that worked prior to 4.xx called error sound be gone but it no longer works and tbh i cant really find any info on curse for it any more but this sound is more annoying than a rogue:)
  • #28
no, that turns off error speech, not error sounds. There IS a very annoying sound effect directly tied to errors. Figure out a way to stop that and you are golden
  • #36
That's the spell cancel sound. But I didn't find any way to turn it off.
  • #31
My god I wish there was a way to turn that sound off!!

Whenever I log in, errorfilter says its enable but does not block error text. I have to show the error box and then hide it again to get the addon to work. Any reason?
  • #18
I could not replicate such behavior. Maybe you have installed an addon that interferes with ErrorFilter. Try to disable any other addon and see if it still malfunctions.

You could also try to reset any configurations by deleting \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\\SavedVariables\ErrorFilter.lua
  • #19
I have the same problem, even with a clean WTF. Steps to reproduce for me from a clean WTF: 1. Log in, use /erf enable and /erf hide 2. spam an ability to verify the mod works 3. log out to char select 4. log back in 5. spam an ability - the result is the frame is not hidden but erf thinks it is, as I have to use /erf hide x 2 to hide the frame.
  • #20
Found a workaround at least. On the second time I log in, if I type /erf hide only once and erf says "erf shows error frame", it actually hides it. I log out and back in, and it still hides it. But looking in errorfilter.lua and it says isShown = TRUE, and errorfilter.lua.bak isShown=false. Strange, but it's working for now.
