About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

5.2.1
Bugfix: Fixed timers for alerts with more than 30 seconds remaining.
Bugfix: Attempting to fix an ongoing issues with AltItem alerts.

Thanks for the spell report! I'll add it in the next release!

  • #1258

    Done!

Btw, noticed that shaman enhancement Searing Flames (spell id 77661) needs to be added to the stack counter list. Thx ^^

Does the newest version of EA automatically disable POWA? Why is that?

  • #1255

Forgive my ignorance, but I can't figure out what ability "POWA" is. :S The only abilities I've disabled by default are glyph abilities that may not be necessary to track (such as Double Jeopardy for Paladins).

I may have made a typo somewhere that disabled an ability it shouldn't have however. From what I've seen the only ones that are intended to be disabled by default are Master Marksman's stack portion (tracking Fire! instead), Glyph of Dark Succor, Glyph of Double Jeopardy and Glyph of Hamstring.

Menio... one other thing that I noticed as well for warrior is Victory Rush... and although when it pops up with Spell ID 34428 as a highlighted buff like Execute... it does not count down to remaining time you have to use it because it needs to track "Victorious" with spell ID 32216 such as the "Raging Blow!" buff.

I hope this makes sense... Victory Rush 34428 needs to be taken out and replaced with Victorious 32216.  Once that is done it should count down the remaining time on Victory Rush properly...

If I uncheck Victory Rush from presets and add 32216 to Custom Alerts, it works as it should.

I'll keep reporting what I find for warrior issues, I really LOVE this addon :) Thanks so much for your hard work.

Hmmm I see what you mean, Victory Rush used to be activated without a buff so I suppose it was better to just track it as an alternate alert then.

I'll replace the current alert with tracking for the Victorious buff!

    Thanks for your input!

    hello

I found I cannot move the icons they cover my character..

  • #1249

That is strange, I am not able to reproduce this one.

Maybe you have done this already, but if not this should allow you to move them. I'll list the steps:

    1. Type "/ea opt" in the game's chat box

    2. Go to "Alert Icon Options" in the options menu for EventAlert and uncheck "Lock the alert frame..."

    3. Click on the "Show/Hide Test Alert Icon" button, this should display dummy alerts.

    4. Drag the dummy alerts to the desired position by clicking and holding on one of them.

If that does not fix it, could you fill a ticket on the curseforge project page with the steps needed to reproduce the issue?

You must click the leftmost icon to move it... the other icons don't work to move them for me.

A command line option should be added to show/hide the test alerts.  Right now you have to do it with the UI window open and it tends to be in the way very often.

  • #1245

Thank you so much "Menio"!! this ui is very very useful for me!~ i love it so so so much~

i am so happy that you upgrade it to 5.05!! so i can use it again now!

    support U!! :D D

(sorry my english is not very good~~ hehehe )

  • #1246

Thank you, glad to hear that you love it! :D

And don't forget to thank CurtisTheGreat for allowing me to take over the maintenance and for creating such a great addon! ;)

I'm not sure if this is something that is easily fixable but I expected Raging Blow to show up in the event alert since it's in the Preset alerts but I believe it has the wrong spell ID.  My Raging Blow shows up as "Raging Blow!" with spell ID of: 131116.

Also, I noticed that you can get up to TWO stacks of "Raging Blow!" but when you use one of them and do a Raging Blow... the event alert removes itself even though there is still one stack remaining that allows you to do Raging Blow a 2nd time.

I added a custom event for 131116 and it works fine, but the stack issue remains.  At any rate, it should probably be fixed in the presets and maybe allowed to have 2 stacks to continue the event.  This is easily reproducible if you have a warrior that can proc "Raging Blow!", just let it stack twice and do a Raging Blow and you'll see the event remove itself even if there is another stack left.

Awesome addon, thanks for picking it up Menio.

  • #1247

It should be able to be tracked indeed! Not being sure whether Raging Blow was an ability with charges or a buff proc(haven't played my warrior in ages!), I simply removed it from its "commented out" state in the warrior alert file.

It was listed as an "alternate alert" as most warrior abilities are; that is a spell that pops up when it becomes available only (such as Execute) I'll move it to the right section with the spellId you provided so that its stacks are tracked in the spell alert and reupload it.

    Thanks for your post!

  • #1241

Thx for bringing this back to life ;D

To the sad part now ;p

1.Not able to delete a custom spell (forgot to keep the LUA error i was getting, sry)

2.The location you choose for the icons to be shown, is a bit off from the one that they are actually shown (lower).

  • #1242

Thanks for the report, I was able to reproduce both of them!

The delete bug seems to be a small typo, should be fixed in no time. I'll look into the spacing between test icons and actual alerts too!
