About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

Bugfix: Attempted to fix an issue with alt items staying on screen after they were supposed to go away.

    Well hello there! The best replacement for this addon would be "TellMeWhen", in my opinion. It's made for more advanced users and is not as easy to set up, but if you have the patience to set up everything, it's a VERY powerful tool. Another, more lightweight option is "MSBT", it offers scrolling combat text alerts.

    I'm planning to update it for WoD after my final exams, but since this is my last semester of class in university, I just don't have the time to update it at the moment. (I'm actually pretty confident that EVERYTHING works fine except for the default alert tracking files. While I'm mentionning that, if anyone who reads this would like to help, you can send me a list of the spells + spellIDs you track for your class, I'd love that!)

    If you have the spellIDs of the spells you would like to track, one option is to add them to the "Custom Alerts" and it should still work just fine, you'll just need to check the "Load out of date" box. I made sure that the addon could recognize Stackable alerts itself so the only thing you can't track with it by adding it in game are "Alt Alerts", which are alerts that light up when they are usable and only then. (Think Victory Rush, if that still exists!)

    Oh I'm glad to hear it's being updated!

    It's only a few things I can't get to work, such as the new MM enhanced kill shot which makes it useable from 35%.

    And it seems to be blocking some parts of the normal blizzard UI randomly.

    I'd rather wait for it to get updated than getting tmw or msbt, just didn't know if you had quit wow or not, thanks for the status update! :)

    You have to either edit the IDs for the spell effects in the alerts folder or add the new ones ingame by custom alerts. For example Lock and Load was [56453] and is now [168980]. For the IDs either check wowhead or enable "Show spell IDs in chat when alert occurs".

    I'm not sure what I'm missing. Under Alert Icon Options, lock the alert frame is unchecked, but I can't move the alert frame on my screen. Any ideas? I am using the version that I downloaded the same date as my post. I noticed someone had this same issue and posted Feb. 19, 2014. This is my first time downloading this addon too.

    I am not quite sure of the specifics because I haven't moved the icons in forever, but I think you need to show the template frames before moving the alert frames around.

    If I am not mistaken, you can make them appear with the chat comand "/ea showtest".

    If that doesn't work, feel free to write again!

    You could try with spellID "114851", but I'm not 100% sure it will work since I haven't tested it myself.

    I just tried a quick fix for this and it seems to be working right. I remember that there was a problem displaying the time for buffs that lasted more than 30 seconds so I cut it down so that any buff over 30 seconds wouldn't display a timer until the remaining time was under 30. (The logic at the time was that you wouldn't need to worry about it over 30 seconds anyways, oopssss...)

    I'll be posting a new version shortly.

    EDIT: New version posted (but not accepted yet, it should be available soon-ish), I didn't add it as baseline because I forgot, oops. :S It should display correctly now though.

    How can I fix Inquisition timer in Event alert? It shows it 30 sec cd. First I shows nothing then when the cd goes to 30 sec it starts to show cooldown timer. Default is 60 sec. Can someone help?
