About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

This mod tracks the following events/procs:

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

Bugfix: Fixed timers for alerts with more than 30 seconds remaining.
Bugfix: Attempting to fix an ongoing issues with AltItem alerts.

There seems to be some taint issue with EventAlert. I'm always getting this one, but I don't join BGs. I think it startet with version 5.1.7 or 5.1.8

10x [ADDON_ACTION_BLOCKED] AddOn "EventAlert" hat versucht die geschützte Funktion "CompactRaidFrame1:Show()" aufzurufen.

If it's the one I'm thinking about, it's a taint issue that affects any addon with a drop down menu with four items or more that is loaded before the Blizzard raid frames. I'm not really sure how to go about fixing it and still allowing custom alerts to be listed as they are added, but when I have some time to work in the menus I'll try to figure out an alternative.

    Thanks for the report!

Hmm that's strange. EventAlert doesn't call the function "JoinBattlefield()" at all... Could you try disabling every addon other than EventAlert and trying to reproduce the issue?

  • #1411

Actually I just found out that my other character now has that same error again.. Can't queue for random bgs when eventalert is on :(

  • #1410

If you have any druid specific addons, they may not load when you play on other classes, I'd look at addons with a specific druid focus for the culprit, especially one that may track things in PvP specifically or interact with the PvP interface in any way.

  • #1409

The thing is, I only have this error on my druid, my warrior and hunter have no problem at all. They all use the same set of addons. So weird...

  • #1404

Any way to add sounds to this addon? Btw love the addon!

  • #1406

As in adding custom sound effects? At the moment all of EventAlert's sound alerts are taken from in-game sounds, so there is no file to add sound effects in. I could look at it as an addition in the future, however, probably sometime after I get around to adding Profiles and different sounds for different alerts. :S

Fill a ticket on curseforge for it and if it's a popular enough request, I'll look into it!

  • #1403

HI, I realise its propably stupid question but I cant move evnt icons even when I clicked off lock in options. if anyone could help I would be greatfull.

  • #1405

You have to display the test frames, which will allow you to move the alert frames to a different position. You can either do it from the options menu or type "/ea showtest" in game.

  • #1397

No matter how many times I reinstall this addon, all sudden now it no longer shows up in game since the last update

  • #1398

Strange, this is the first time I hear about that issue.

Could you clarify? Do you mean it does not show up in the Addon selection menu from the character screen? Or perhaps that the alerts simply do not display at all?

If it's the former, which version are you installing?

If it's the latter, what class do you play? Does it work on some classes but not others for you? Did you try deleting the saved variables?

  • #1402

yeah there an option you can have, and I set mine to release but I still get these alpha and beta ones

  • #1400

Strange that it doesn't show in the Interface menu.

I'd reccomend reverting to 5.1.9, the alpha was a test release I pushed, I didn't think the Curse client would download alphas automatically. The problem is most likely that I forgot something in the code for the alpha and it doesn't compile :S
