About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

5.2.1
Bugfix: Fixed timers for alerts with more than 30 seconds remaining.
Bugfix: Attempting to fix an ongoing issues with AltItem alerts.

I just took a look at the old code and it seems like it didn't support stacking buffs back then. The only one that appears in the list of spells tracked is Maelstrom Weapon's fifth stack.

    You *could* always try adding this line to EventAlert's EventAlertSpellArray.lua, in your class's section (open it in a text editor and use the search function for your class name, then put the line inside that class's "if");

    if EA_Items[EA_CLASS_<CLASSNAME>][<SPELLID>] == nil then EA_Items[EA_CLASS_<CLASSNAME>][<SPELLID>] = true end;

But I can't guarantee that would work.

Can you please add Rapture for priests? Thanks.

  • #1340

It seems like there's no buff associated with Rapture, therefore it wouldn't really be something that's trackable. If you add the spellID manually, you may be able to get a sound alert, but adding rapture specifically would require it's very own class of "Internal cooldown" spells, which isn't really tracked by this addon since it focuses on buff procs and abilities cooldown being reset. :S

May I recommend using an addon like Mik's Scrolling Battle Text or TellMeWhen both great addons that, while not as easy to customize, offer a lot of functionality that simply aren't in the scope of this addon.

If you really feel that ICD tracking should be added to the addon, feel free to make a CurseForge ticket about it and if I get a lot of feedback I'll see what I can do about implementing it!

Dru's "Omen of Clarity" couldn't show in MOP 5.1, not sure if it's a bug or the spell id has changed. It's been pretty critical for feral drus.

  • #1341

I think I see the problem, it would appear that there are different spell IDs for Restoration and Feral druids in the spell book. I'll put both in the next version.

In the meantime, try adding the spell ID "135700" to your list of custom spell IDs, it should do the trick!

  • #1337

Just a little note for everyone, I made some changes today that will allow stacking buffs to be added as custom spells (they will be transferred to the list of stacking buffs the first time they are used and will be customizable (aka turning it on/off and changing stack #)  just like other stacking auras).

It's a pretty big change so I'm sure there will be some bugs, since my testing was limited to adding a druid's Lifebloom to the list and fixing interface issues, but I'm hoping that it will be mostly useful. :S If you find any issues with it, report it here or in the tickets section of CurseForge.

If you experience issues with your WoW interface after installing it (specifically settings being reset) please leave a comment here, I'm trying to narrow the problem down though it may be fixed already.

Thanks everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a happy New Year,

Hi addon WILL NOT WORK FOR ME.  I've used this addon for a while in a cata and it worked perfectly!  Now, since MOP, the addon just stops working and EVERY TIME it procs, it'll give me and error and I have to keep taking it off.

  • #1334

If you have used it in Cataclysm, you will need to delete your saved variables. In order for it to work, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
    \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables.

If the problem persists after, feel free to post here again!

  • #1336

No worries! It used to be at the top the first few weeks to warn users about it, but it would replace the Curse client description so I moved it after a while.

  • #1335

IT WORKED! Omg one of my top favorite addons now work!  Thank you SOOOO much!  This addon is a life saver because you don't need to keep looking at the action bars to see if anything has proc'd!  Thank you!  And I just noticed you had what you said, at the bottom of your description, so I apologize that I didn't read it beforehand!

  • #1331

I can confirm that mangle resets are being displayed properly now, thanks a ton for this tweak!

  • #1332

You're welcome! Thanks to you for the report and the spellID. :D

  • #1326

Just curious is it possible to get the Mangle cooldown proc added to this? It doesnt technically give a buff or anythign but the spells Lacerate, Feral Faerie Fire and Thrash all have a 25% chance to reset Mangle and the in game proc alert is just to damn hard to see. But I cant figure out how to add it to the customs since it doesnt give a buff

I'll see what I can do but a few procs such as Shadow Word:Insanity did not have a combat log event attached to them in the previous patch, which is how the addon tracks those events. :S I'll add it to the spells triggered by a combat log event though and see what happens!

  • #1330

It does, that means that the event is registered by the addon, so it would be possible to add it as what the addon recognizes as a "Alt_item", which is a proc triggered by a combat log event rather than a buff. I'll had this spellID to the list of druid spells and put it up as a beta build! thanks for the input!
