About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

This mod tracks the following events/procs:

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

5.2.1
Bugfix: Fixed timers for alerts with more than 30 seconds remaining.
Bugfix: Attempting to fix an ongoing issues with AltItem alerts.

I love this addon :), however I'd like to ask CurtisTheGreat is it possible to add in the list of tracked paladin spells Sacred Shield procs. Would be great for pvp.
  • #136
I've had others ask for this. The problem is that it doesn't create a buff on you, so I need to set the mod up for tracking on other players. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

    I'll add this sometime. :)

every1 says it's awesome! would love to try it but it won't load into wow for me? I've done everything correctly and it's in the game file but when i log on, click the addons button it's not there? may one of my other adds be causing this? is it just another vista issue? plz help i really would love to use this!!
  • #129
    Hum, that's odd.

You have a folder structure as: Interface\AddOns\EventAlert correct?
  • #130
yes it all installs the way it should but it does not show up when i log in and look at the addons (the button at the bottom left) anything i can do to make this work plz advise as i really need this add!
    thank you

Try quitting WoW. Delete the EventAlert folder. Log into WoW. Quit WoW again, extract the EventAlert folder in the Interface folder. Load WoW.

See if that works for you. :)
  • #132
thx but it did not work well the only thing i have not done is run a repair on wow and reload the addons again. i'm gonna try that if not then ?
  • #133
Then I'm not sure what the problem is. You might check the UI/Mods forum on the main WoW website, and see if they have any information that might help you.
  • #134
thank you for your help and responce to my problem. I got it resolved and your addon is a great help!!!!! awesome thx FYI if anyone is having similar problems with vista I downloaded all the possible updates from microsoft and the optional updates as well then my problems were solved. something in the operating system was outdated i guess and was preventing the addon from being, well you get the picture. lol thx again

awesome i have a lock and holy priest exactly what ive been looking for very good
  • #125
This is definitely one of my favorite mods. Only issue I have with it is that everytime i log on a diff comp the placement of the pop up icon gets changed back to the exact middle of the screen. If we could get some way to lock it in place so it won't get reset I'd be very happy.
  • #126
Whenever you log onto a new computer for the first time in WoW, you have to re-setup your settings.

There was a bug in the last version of EventAlert where the location wasn't saving. I've fixed that bug in the newest version.

Try typing: /ea opt and make sure that the icon is locked before you log out.

Hi :) Love this addon.. but were wondering if it is posible to add function to the event frame..

So when my hotstreak procs i could click the frame and it starts casting pyroblast :)

Keep up the good work :)

Ok, I decided to release the bugfix instead of the full blown update to include more than one alert. The reason being is that I have to go out of town this weekend and need more time. So, for now, enjoy the bug free version. :)
