About EventAlert

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

This mod tracks the following events/procs:

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

Greetings everyone, my name is Menio and I will be taking over the maintenance of this addon from CurtisTheGreat, the original author!

I'll start with an important note: If you used EventAlert before in your current WoW folder, you will need to delete the EventAlert.lua and EventAlert.lua.bak files located at:
\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SavedVariables for this addon to work.

Above is CurtisTheGreat's original description, with updated class abilities.

Bugfix: Tried to fix bug with paladin Holy Power tracking.
Bugfix: Fixed issue with sound effects not playing.
Change: Removed unstackable Brain Freeze and replace it with Stacking Brain Freeze.

awesome i have a lock and holy priest exactly what ive been looking for very good
  • #125
This is definitely one of my favorite mods. Only issue I have with it is that everytime i log on a diff comp the placement of the pop up icon gets changed back to the exact middle of the screen. If we could get some way to lock it in place so it won't get reset I'd be very happy.

Whenever you log onto a new computer for the first time in WoW, you have to re-setup your settings.

There was a bug in the last version of EventAlert where the location wasn't saving. I've fixed that bug in the newest version.

Try typing: /ea opt and make sure that the icon is locked before you log out.

Hi :) Love this addon.. but were wondering if it is posible to add function to the event frame..

So when my hotstreak procs i could click the frame and it starts casting pyroblast :)

Keep up the good work :)

Ok, I decided to release the bugfix instead of the full blown update to include more than one alert. The reason being is that I have to go out of town this weekend and need more time. So, for now, enjoy the bug free version. :)
  • #122
it is your time and it lies in your hand when the fixes coming :)

  • #121
I've been able to track the bug down.

The thing is, I'm having to re-code the framework of the mod to allow for multiple alerts when more than one thing procs. Because of that, I won't be releasing a bug-fix for this, but instead just release the new version that includes the new framework.

I hope to have it out this weekend. Sorry for the delay everyone. I work in an ER, 12 hour shifts, so my computer time is limited. :)

same position reseting problem here, checked the file and is not read-only. WinXP SP2
  • #119
yes, I have the problem with the reset after restart of wow too.
    I use win xp pro.
  • #115
I have been having the position reset problem after the patch too. I went to the specified path, and the file in question was indeed set to read-only. Changed it back now, and will see if that solves the problem.

    (using Windows Vista)
  • #116
Problem seems to have been resolved by making that change.
  • #117
Great! I'm glad to hear it's working for you. :)
  • #113
I'll take a look at why it's resetting it's position and get it fixed in the next update.

I'm not able to replicate the problem of moving the frame.

I unlock the frame, toggle the alert, move it, and re-lock the frame, then hit okay. I then quit WoW, log back in, and the alert is in the same place that I moved it.

The file that is changed when you move the frame is: \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\Server\Character\layout-local.txt

Those of you having the problem, check to make sure that the file is able to be written. (AKA not read-only). Are those of you having the issue using Windows Vista?

Any info you all can give me will help out quite a bit, since I can't get it to bug out like you all are able to.
  • #118
Unfortunately, I am having this problem as well, but I am using Windows XP SP3. I've checked the file and it's not read-only.
