About FishermansFriend

FishermansFriend is a fishing helper addon.

FishermansFriend does the following when you equip a fishing rod:
- Enhance Sounds so you can hear the fishing bobber better, and ofcourse restore your original settings when you remove the rod.
- Add doublerightclick autocasting.
- When attempting to doublerightclick autocast FishermansFriend can also use the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat or automatically apply your best lure.
- Automatically turn on Auto-Looting items when you have a fishing rod equipped.

FishermansFriend uses the itemids for lures etc, and should work on every language client even though the configuration might not be translated in your language yet.

You can open the options panel by /fmf or /fishermansfriend or via Esc -> Interface Options -> AddOns.

    Sadly, it hasn't worked since 4.2.2
    It will no longer cast when I double click. :(

    Still works mostly for me in 4.3, but sporadically stops working.  Reequipping the fishing rod seems to fix it.

    5/1/11 and the Glow Worm is still being over-written by the hat even though there is over 50 mins left. Also, if your Elixor of Water Walking wears off, and you go in the water - then the double-click cast feature breaks. Need to logout and back to use double-click again :(

    Only started happening when I updated from version r109 to r112.

    Nice addon which have worked pretty well for years. But latest I experiance that after I have fished for about 3-5 mins the active lure is ignored and fmf tries to add a new lure. I have manually put on the glow worm but fmf tries to attach the weatherbeaten fishing hat lure even though there is around 55 minutes left of the worm.

    Hey super addon :D I'm already recommending it for all of my friends :D, but i noticed that something is missing :) The addon doesn't check if you have an active buff of http://www.wowhead.com/item=34832. Could you modify the addon so it also checks for the buff, and also an option to not turn the check of? :)

    I notice that this is made for version 4.0.1, and I think that the [Heat-Treated Spinning Lure], was in the game at that point, but the addon doesn't seem to try to apply it everytime i fish... how come?

    Nice addon thanks.

    Bug Report:
    I worked out I can double right to loot and recast at the same time. This works for most items as far as I can tell. But when fishing in Cata zones when Volatile Water is fished up a double click loot/cast will drop the Volatile Water, does not appear on chat log or in bag. But a single click loot will pick it up.

    Not sure what's going on there. As I said this method works for fish and trash and loot but not Volatile Water. Hope it's fixable. Thanks again.

    Possible to mute the sound events of people fishing beside you? I listen for the splash and click, thinking its mine.

    nope, unless Blizzard fixes the game so you only hear your own splash. I hated being in Dalaran when everyone was fishing and hearing my custom sound over and over and over.

    It's trying to apply a fishing lure that I don't have the skill to use, and it's not casting at all.

    Anyone know how to set the sound so it automatically goes to 50% instead of jumping to 100% which is extremely loud and scare you when fishing at 3am?

    BUG REPORT : Fisherman's Friend v101-release

    FAULT : FMF is trying to apply a lure that I do not yet have actual fishing skill to use.

    Auto Lure was on. Fishing skill was 45 and I had the +5 Strong Fishing Pole equipped. There were Nightcrawlers (actual fishing skill 50 required) in my inventory.

    While I was skilling up to 45, everything was fine. As soon as I hit actual fishing skill 45, I got the message "You can't use that item" because FMF was attempting to apply the Nightcrawlers. I believe that FMF is checking EFFECTIVE skill (45+5) to try to apply a lure rather than ACTUAL skill (45). As soon as I turned off Auto Lure, I was able to fish without a lure till my skill reached 50. When I turned Auto Lure back on after that point, FMF immediately (and successfully) applied the lure.
