About FishingAce

Simple right click casting.

Double right-click to cast while a fishing pole is equipped. Options included to enhance the various telltale signs that you've caught a fish (upping the volume, enhance the pool "sparklies") and automatically applying a lure to your pole.

Double click casting can result in lost catches in rare situations where the loot window and casting overlap. I haven't figured out if this is due to a slow computer or a slow connection, nor have I found a way around it yet.

    @Sutorix

I just opened up the LibFishing-1.0.lua and replaced all GetSpellName's to GetSpellInfo's and the mod is working again for me.
  • #79
    ..\AddOns\FishingAce\LibFishing-1.0.lua line 376:
attempt to call global 'GetSpellName' (a nil value)

GetSpellName doesn't exist anymore. Needs to be GetSpellInfo

If you're updating this, any chance you could update to ACE3 libs instead of ACE2 libs?

Since the 4.0 patch, this addon will still auto-apply a lure, but will no longer cast a line by right clicking water.
  • #77
So we got 4.0 today and i keep getting errors from this thing when i'm assignig talent points
  • #76
as far as i can tell you just pop it in your addons folder, restart wow, equip your fishing pole and double right click, it sets a lure, equips fishing hat(if you have one) etc, just do the sounds settings or put some ear plugs in, haha. thats all i can say to help you there :D

    2 Things

    1) To those of you who can't get it to work after updating to 0.4.5j, have you tried having the action option off? It was on by default for me when I first installed it and it wouldn't work, after turning it off it started working. I don't know what the problem exactly is because I was able to turn it back on and it continued working, but when I went and bought a new lure to continue, it added the lure then wouldn't cast again till I turned action off. (I honestly don't even understand what the point of this option is)

    2) To those who have no idea how to use this addon, I too had to figure out how to use it entirely by trail-and-error (do to fail on author to provide instructions, so I doubt I know everything about it) After installing it and logging in, type /fa to see what options there are and see their descriptions. Due to a current bug I suggest turning action off (type "/fa action off"). Then all you have to do is double right click anywhere, preferably where you're not actually clicking on anything though. It should then cast, wait for the bobber to splash, right click the bobber to grab your catch, then double right click again and continue.

If theres more to this addon I didn't say (i.e don't know about), please respond and let us know. ty

The "action" option looks for a Fishing action button on your bars. If it doesn't find one it disables the double-click-to-cast feature. Very nice if you want to avoid unintentionally casting, say during an instance.

I keep my fishing action button on the second "page" of my main action bar anyway, so this feature is great. Def not a bug!

Can you explain more, with a small video maybe?

I have used this addon for at least the last year without any problems till I updated to 0.4.5j when double right click casting sopped working. The ambient sound change still works when equipping a fishing rod, but the cast does not.
I have since rolled back to 0.4.5h and and it works without a hitch again.

just wondering if i have missed something. put settings on, double right clicking, tried on multiple characters with multiple types of fishing poles and still can not get it to do anything. is there a specific command i have to type when equipping a fishing pole? do i have to edit the program itself? I am what i call "computer Illiterate" so i do prefer programs that actually work right out of the box with nothing but maybe some settings tweaks.

It should come out of the box with double-right-click casting enabled, along with "enhance sounds". If you type "/fa", what do you see? It should list the status of the addon (normal Ace behavior).
