About Fishing Buddy

Fishing Buddy
-------------

A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

Features:
- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature
- Bring out your fishing pets! Drink heavily!
- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:
/fishingbuddy or /fb
toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

Silly stuff:
In addition to displaying the fishing bonus for your fishing outfit, it also displays your 'style points' as inferred from Draznar's Fishing FAQ (http://wow.toshimo.com/viewtopic.php?t=272).

3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

Not sure why, but when I try to change options around (ie: turning off fishing contest support), upon changing tabs or closing out the window, it does not save the selected settings and is just back to default.

  • #2732

I get the same issue with options not saving.

Additionally the tickbox to say empty this slot for clothing when switching outfits no longer works correctly. You get a "That item doesn't go there" style error and the clothing may or may not change (in my case the shoulders did get taken off but the belt did not, but it wasn't till i unticked all empty options that the error message went away)

  • #2733

Thank you for the reports - I will dig into this. There seems to be some changes around the checkbox handling that may have broken things.

  • #2729

There is a problem with the checkboxes in the Options Panel. Blizzard changed something with the GetChecked() function. In G15Buttons it would no longer work from GetChecked()==1 but GetChecked() would. Not sure how this plays out in FB but the options are not updating for some reason.

  • #2730

It seems to be working for me -- but I will do some more in depth testing and see if there is some weird corner case. Are you using the English client? (I hope Blizz will make it easier to use a non-English client from the US in the future).

  • #2725

any plans to ever remove "Derby" from the Fishing Timers ?

reason being the Extravaganza is the only tournament left right ?

  • #2726

    It's probably time :-)

Fishing Buddy Version 1.4d Beta 1

    - Hack to LibTourist to work under WoD

Starting prep for WoD -- so far just need some library updates (LibTourist isn't ready yet, so this version has been hacked to at least not error out)

I'm having issues when my Easy Cast not working... It will start to work then it will stop then I have to change the button type to get it to start working again... and it doesn't do anything except double right-click which is what I want, but like it will say mouse button 4... any idea what i can do to fix this?

  • #2721

    Howdy,

I got this swatter report. I dont know if it has to do with trying to cast while mounted, which option does not appear to work.

Weird, I will look into that. I may also have to rethink the whole macro support thing, obviously :-)

  • #2716

Hmm, i have normaly no sound when i play, and FB have the options to turn on sound, but its nor working for me, any idea why ? It should turn up sound when i catch a fish and then mute again right ?

  • #2715

    Thanks for this useful addon!

Some feature suggestions that would make my fishing life easier. ;)

    - Left mouse button option for easy casting. I keep falling off my raft when I don't watch out with right-clicking. That is because I watch my character from above while fishing and the raft vanishes when you accidentally look down via right click. Sometimes you also accidentally start an attack on mobs walking around pools, left-clicking would only target these.

And button 4/5 don't work for me, likely because I mapped them to movement functions. Left-click would be ideal, since you can also use left-click for pulling in the bobber.

    - (Option to) turn off "Sound at character" while fishing. I usually move the camera to an angle and distance that mutes all sounds of waterfalls, waterwalking mobs and everything else around the character. The fishing bobber still is played aloud, though. So turning off "Sound at Character" helps a lot in discerning the bobber from other stuff.

    - Highlight the current sub-zone in the locations window, so that one look shows where one is currently fishing.
