About Fishing Buddy

Fishing Buddy
-------------

A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

Features:
- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature
- Bring out your fishing pets! Drink heavily!
- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:
/fishingbuddy or /fb
toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

Silly stuff:
In addition to displaying the fishing bonus for your fishing outfit, it also displays your 'style points' as inferred from Draznar's Fishing FAQ (http://wow.toshimo.com/viewtopic.php?t=272).

2. If your unzip program allows you to specify a location, then unzip it into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder contained in your WoW folder (the location that WoW was installed)
3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

There are two ways this works:

    1. Wear any piece of "fishing gear", besides a fishing pole and have "Partial Outfit" checked in the fishing options

    2. Select a "Modifier" key for the "Easy Cast" option. If you hold down that key and double-click, FB will cast for you

    Glad you like it!

Here is another one. Picture a 25 man raid, or a 40 man world boss raid, and think of multiple group calls going wrong. There seems to be bad calls for each group, and each group member. I won't even try to post them all, I promise. Hope this can help you sort it out.

This is a bug on the Blizz side -- they create the Raid frames in between add-on frames getting created (or something like that) and it causes this error. It happens to many different add-ons and so far I haven't found a work-around.

  • #2429

No worries. I just thought you might like the info. I'll let you know if I discover that it is creating more of a problem than generating an error report.

  • #2425

Get this error. Don't know why. Actually checking the log there is about 30 errors from my last lfr. All relate to a compact raid group call, but they are not all the same.

Today I was using Fishing Buddy and it was working fine then after I got done I switched back to my weapon and all I got was WoW music playing with no other sounds.  I switched back to my fishing pole and I get the normal walking, flying, and npc's talking sounds.  I did not adjust anything in FB I just switched between the pole and weapon when this occured.  I did make sure that the partial outfit was unchecked and it was not so I unchecked it and reloaded several times and not cure.  Any ideas what this is or what I might have done?

    Thanks!

Belay my last problem fixed nothing to do with FB.  Not sure how it happened but it's fixed.

That;s weird -- I will look into it. There may be an edge case in the swapping code. Thanks for the report!

I received this error when I logged in today. I have been getting this for a while, so not sure what to do. I have updated to the most recent release. I removed the list of add-ons, so if you need them, let me know and I will post the entire error with add-ons listed:

I haven't updated the FuBar plugin in a long time (since the last time FuBar development was discontinued). I may see about repackaging it, but the data broker plugin is up to date.

is there any way to get it to swap to my fishing gear whenever i double click on water and back if i enter combat ?

  • #2421

    Unfortunately, no.

    1. There is no way to tell if you clicked on water or some other random piece of the world (that you can't otherwise interact with)

    2. Blizz has basically made it impossible to successfully automatically switch your weapons back -- although I am trying to get it to work.

    Thanks for using FB!

  • #2419

Blizz doesn't post an event for this -- probably because writing a 'bot would be made much easier. The only thing I've thought of is to ring a bell just before the "usual" times (which look like 11, 7, and 3 seconds left) when the fish strikes -- but it varies wildly with connection speed (and maybe sever load, I don't have enough data).

  • #2418

Is there any fishing addon that tracks when the bobber pops (or atleast at what precise second in the fishing countdown you click the lure)? I am trying to compile data to post on WoW's forums about the "last second pop" of the fishing lure. I would like some sort of data that could tell me how many casts I've thrown and how many times (maybe even with %) the lure popped at each second mark. I am currently keeping track of it manually, but I think having an addon that did it automatically would be much more accurate.

  • #2415

I cna't get the auto lure feature to work? I have lures in my bag but they don't apply themselves? I have made sure it is set to apply lure, but strugglign to get it to work, I just end updoing it manually.

Make sure the Easy Cast and Auto Lure options are checked as well -- by default FB doesn't automatically apply lures.
