About Fishing Buddy

Fishing Buddy
-------------

A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

Features:
- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature
- Bring out your fishing pets! Drink heavily!
- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:
/fishingbuddy or /fb
toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

Silly stuff:
In addition to displaying the fishing bonus for your fishing outfit, it also displays your 'style points' as inferred from Draznar's Fishing FAQ (http://wow.toshimo.com/viewtopic.php?t=272).

Installation
------------

1. Unzip the 'FishingBuddyVERSION.zip' file
2. If your unzip program allows you to specify a location, then unzip it into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder contained in your WoW folder (the location that WoW was installed)
3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

Version 1.4c
- Don't try to summon fishing pets if we're in combat
- Make sure we autoloot things that we're opening automatically
- Better handling when both Angler's Raft and Bipsi's Berg are available
- Fix for Curse bug #231 "Watcher not toggling off automatically"

Version 1.4b
- Get my act together with respect to watch window location (thanks Grizzly_UK!)

Version 1.4a
- More work on keeping the watcher visible and onscreen (using LibWindow)
- Handle version changes and per-player settings correctly
- Fix an issue with LibTourist where it doesn't check for esMX

Version 1.4
- Updated German translation (thanks DirtyHarryGermany!)
- Attempted fix for 64-bit crash bug (#227) by using PLAYER_ALIVE
- Remove invalid frame reference in watcher window (Curse #229)
- Add "/fb fishdata reset" to clear out all fish location data (#127)
- More work on the watcher frame to try and make it stay on screen all the time

    Perfect 1.2d release

Thank you Fishing Buddy for many years of being an awesome fishing buddy. I have donated.

  • #2326

Thank you! There are often days where getting a donation makes it much easier to try and figure out why it doesn't work for somebody when it works perfectly fine "on my machine" :-)

The newest version is still very broken.  I am turning it off again.  In response to the comments I got before, there are so many errors, it seems like spam to post them all, but here they are:

I dont get as many errors as croana, but I have the exact errors, RaidFrames 5,6,7.

  • #2327

That's weird, as far as I know, I don't touch Raid frames. I will see about doing some more raids and see if I can figure it out. (I don't see it myself, in normal use).

    Fishing Buddy v1.2d

    - Add option to just "maintain" the raft if it's already on, i.e. manual engagement
    - Support the Sharpened Tuskaar Spear (ugly, but it works for now)
    - Fix the minimap icon setting, again
    - Updated LibTourist to the latest version
    - Updated German translation (thanks DirtyHarryGermany!)
    - Fix summon pet errors -- BUT PETS DON"T WORK YET
    - Fix Curse bugs #206, #207, #208

PETS DO NOT WORK YET -- Blizz changed a lot of the pet support so I will need to go back and redo the pet management.

  • #2320

Thank you very much for the fast work. I'll give the new version a test soon and will try to remember to return later to report the results! ;)

  • #2313

Getting the same errors as others are reporting (FishingFluff.lua line 212 when clicking to equip and FishingFluff.lua line 246 when clicking to unequip, I won't post up the entire errors as I see 3 others have already done that and there's 2 tickets on the project site as well). Not sure if this may help or not, but the pet summoning hasn't worked for me since MoP released. I haven't reported that before simply because I figured there was already enough to get sorted without adding more to the pile!

The new version (available soon) should fix all of the errors.

  • #2329

What errors are you getting, exactly? I just downloaded v1.2d, and it doesn't call GetSummonedPetID any more (the call that Blizz changed).

    Thank,

    Sut

  • #2328

    I still get the FishingFluff.lua errors (1.2d)

  • #2312

Patched FB today and I am getting the following from BugSack!

    3x FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2\FishingFluff.lua:246: attempt to call field "GetSummonedPetID" (a nil value) FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2\FishingFluff.lua:246: in function <FishingBuddy\FishingFluff.lua:242> FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2\FishingFluff.lua:262: in function "func" FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2.lua:445: in function <FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy.lua:441> FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2.lua:1288: in function <FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy.lua:1280> FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2.lua:1305: in function <FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy.lua:1301> FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy-1.2d Beta 2.lua:1584: in function <FishingBuddy\FishingBuddy.lua:1571>

Locals: started = 34422.559 logout = nil resetPVP = nil unTrack = nil

    Thanks

    Broken to hell.

  • #2315

In what way is it "Broken to hell."? The only thing broken for me is the pet summoning and the 2 new errors when clicking to equip and unequip, everything else works fine.

Providing no information as to what problems you have isn't going to help get anything fixed!

  • #2310

Sooooo many errors.  Fishingbuddy has had problems before, but now it's completely bugging my UI.  Please fix.
