A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature

- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:

toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

2. If your unzip program allows you to specify a location, then unzip it into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder contained in your WoW folder (the location that WoW was installed)
3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

For some odd reason the mini-map button wont go away.  I De-select it in the options, but still the button remains around the mini-map.

    Thanks for the report!

    Fishing Buddy 1.2c

    Version 1.2c
    - Updated German translation (thanks DirtyHarryGermany!)
    - Updated Traditional Chinese translation (thanks titanium0107!)
    - Update the raft buff before it expires, if we can (reworking this for the next version)
    - Handle Nat's Hat correctly
    - Lots of small code improvements

I'm completely reworking the way the fishing item support works, but that requires some changes to the option layout code, which requires... You get the idea ;-)

Looks like it has a memory leak.  I did a few memory dumps and Fishing Buddy kept scaling the list and eating more and more memory.

  • #2294

    "scaling the list"?

Okay, I will take a look and see if I can figure out what's going on.

  • #2298

Yeah, well according to BrokerCPU the memory usage kept on creeping up.  Doesn't seem to be doing it no more now after the 1.2c update.

    Angler's Raft

Any way to have it cast before the raft drops us in the drink?

  • #2286

Working on it -- I have to rewrite how I check for items and invoke them, so I want to make sure I don't break anything :-)

  • #2291

    You're the best!

  • #2284

When fishing in Uldum (Schnotzz Landing (spelling?)) FB makes it a 650 zone... looks a bit off when max fishing is 600, doesn't it? :P

Also it shows ALL zones where I have already been fishing as new (i.e. no totals) so can't find any previously caught fish.. :(

  • #2287

There are zones in Pandaria where you have to have 750 skill to fish without getting trash -- outfits and poles with fishing bonuses, plus fishing lures, make it possible to fish there.

  • #2292

Ok, thanks a lot for this info, as far as I knew 600 was the total max skill

  • #2283

I noticed that your new update says "Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature"...yet when I use the generic fishing icon you get from the professions tab, Fishing Buddy doesn't show up. Do I need to make a mod or am I missing something?

Love this mod, thanks so much!

    - More work on the pet menu to try and address the "script too long" bug some people are seeing

    Fishing Buddy's old display style

I wasn't playing WoW for a while, and decided to come back with the MoP expansion.  I've installed the latest Fishing Buddy addon using the Curse client, and I found that the FB interface has changed significantly since I last used it in Cataclysm.  Most notably, the FB display is in its own opaque window now, and not in a transparent-background text frame (similar to Blizzard's Objectives pane), as it used to be.  Also, I can't seem to get it to display the counts of fish in an area, only percentages, and if I leave the window open, the list is not refreshed with each cast, as it used to be with the old transparent text frame.

All in all, this newer version of the FB addon seems a lot less useful than the one I loved and constantly played with a little over a year ago, and I'm wondering if I'm just missing some configuration options for FB that will restore this missing functionality, or if there are technical reasons why the author decided to move away from the original functionality?
