About Fishing Buddy

Fishing Buddy
-------------

A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

Features:
- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature
- Bring out your fishing pets! Drink heavily!
- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:
/fishingbuddy or /fb
toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

Silly stuff:
In addition to displaying the fishing bonus for your fishing outfit, it also displays your 'style points' as inferred from Draznar's Fishing FAQ (http://wow.toshimo.com/viewtopic.php?t=272).

Fishing Buddy Plugins:

Installation
------------

1. Unzip the 'FishingBuddyVERSION.zip' file
2. If your unzip program allows you to specify a location, then unzip it into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder contained in your WoW folder (the location that WoW was installed)
3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

    Fishing Buddy 1.2 Beta 4

    Better handling of fishing raft (there are enough exceptions, maybe it should be optional)

  • #2239

    Not sure if this is part of the current fixes but...

    FB appears to have a memory leak.  As you fish you can watch the memory usage go up each cast.

    Also a simpler way to watch it go up:  Click the FB gear set, then click your normal gear set, repeat.  Memory usage goes up and up.

    Thanks for the report! I will look into it.

    Getting this on login.

    I cleared out all of the FB files (Addons and WTF) and re-installed fresh, still getting it.

    Repeats the last 2 lines a ways...

    What language are you using? I found a possible issue, and it was fixed in version 1.1f...

    Thanks!

  • #2234

    English-US

    I had FishingAce! installed too, turned it off, but no change.

    Looks like there may be an issue with the method not returning from the recursion.

    Fishing Buddy 1.2 Beta 2

    - Add "Partial Gear" option for casting. If enabled, wearing any item that has a fishing bonus will let you double click cast.
    - Add support for the Angler's Raft (still figuring out what to do about the spear)
    - Updated Traditional Chinese (zhTW) translation (thanks titanium0107!)
    - Don't include pool catches in counts (works for first time fishing in a subzone)
    - Try harder to notice that we're fishing from a pool

     I fixed some serious issues in the school code, so I may not be able to save old school data, but I am looking at it. There are still some issues with updating the current counts while fishing, but the initial watcher data leaves them out correctly.

    Sharpened Tuskarr Spear

    So, if you actually have this in your bags -- should FB use it automatically? Only if you're in a group? Should it be an option?

    What do you think?

    Sutorix:

    I've manually added these in my libfinshing.lua file to avoid greys from showing as successful casts, at least 2 of them are from Pandaria expansion:

    MissedFishItems[83065] = "Desecrated Carcass";

    MissedFishItems[36794] = "Scoured Fishbones";

    MissedFishItems[6297] = "Old Skull";

    MissedFishItems[6301] = "Old Teamster's Skull";

    Also as a suggestion, you should move the quest items that get colored gold (and there's a new one sugar minnow but I don't have the ID for it handy) out of the successes tally, still show them on the list for an area, just at the bottom above failed attempts, just don't have them count towards successful casts since they're only for the quests and come with a successful cast of another fish.

  • #2230

    Yes, I have to add the new "Quest Fish" manually -- Blizz didn't mark them the way they used to!

  • #2224
    Beta version going up

    Version 1.2 Beta 1
    - Add "Partial Gear" option for casting. If enabled, wearing any item that has a fishing bonus will let you double click cast.
    - More fixes for school issues (prepping for not counting school catches in stats)

    There are a lot of issues with the old school code, so I'm working on rewriting it -- as well as add a feature to not include school catches in the stats. Since there isn't an absolute way to tell, this is going to be approximate -- but it should give better numbers.

    The Partial Gear option makes the "no-pole casting" set of options complete -- the primary goal was to make sure you didn't have to unequip your weapons in order to fish, and I think this rounds out the necessary settings. Let me know!
