    Unfortunately, no.

    1. There is no way to tell if you clicked on water or some other random piece of the world (that you can't otherwise interact with)

    2. Blizz has basically made it impossible to successfully automatically switch your weapons back -- although I am trying to get it to work.

    Thanks for using FB!

  • #2419

Blizz doesn't post an event for this -- probably because writing a 'bot would be made much easier. The only thing I've thought of is to ring a bell just before the "usual" times (which look like 11, 7, and 3 seconds left) when the fish strikes -- but it varies wildly with connection speed (and maybe sever load, I don't have enough data).

  • #2418

Is there any fishing addon that tracks when the bobber pops (or atleast at what precise second in the fishing countdown you click the lure)? I am trying to compile data to post on WoW's forums about the "last second pop" of the fishing lure. I would like some sort of data that could tell me how many casts I've thrown and how many times (maybe even with %) the lure popped at each second mark. I am currently keeping track of it manually, but I think having an addon that did it automatically would be much more accurate.

I cna't get the auto lure feature to work? I have lures in my bag but they don't apply themselves? I have made sure it is set to apply lure, but strugglign to get it to work, I just end updoing it manually.

Make sure the Easy Cast and Auto Lure options are checked as well -- by default FB doesn't automatically apply lures.

  • #2414

any chance on adding support for ancient pandaren fishing charm ie auto cast if buff not active. or the fishing hat as an auto lure ? i dot mind more clicks but would love it to cast these things to help on ma memorie and not filling ma bars with such things. thx.

  • #2417

The options are already there -- "Auto Lure" in the casting options pane, and "Use Pandaren Fishing Charm" in the "Fishing Fun" options pane.

Note, the Pandaren fishing charm option doesn't show up if you don't actually have the charm in your inventory :-)

    Bugged to high heaven :(

Hi, maybe it's just me, but I've had an on/off bug whereby it's still acting as though I'm fishing even after I've stopped and re-equipped my weapon. It's still counting elapsed time and forcing sound. It only ever used to do this when the pole was equipped, obviously. I've got round this before simply by re-installing, but after it happened today I downloaded the newest version and it's got even worse. Now, despite not having even equipped my pole after logging in, I turned in the Dala fishing daily and fishing buddy gave me the Nat Pagle fanfare, boosted my sound and brought up the fishing stats menu on the left and wouldn't bugger off without me manually turning the addon off. Atm, it's totally unusable. Is this just me, and either way, wtf is going on with it? Always used to be a great addon until this started happening this year. Please help :S

  • #2412

Just to update, several hours later and after several relog attempts, leaving quite some time between, working fine again, so it does seem to be an intermittent bug. Would still be interesting to know what causes it and if anyone else has had the same problem? Cheers

  • #2413

Are you level 20 and wearing a fishing hat? :-)

Try unchecking the "Partial Outfit" option -- since you can fish without a pole in the latest version, FB supports partial outfits and "modifier key" casting.

  • #2410

I am trying to use the double-click easy casting (with no pole equipped), and it doesn't do anything.  I checked that "Easy Cast" is enabled on the Fishing tab.  Is there something else I need to do?  Thanks!

Edit:  it seems to work if I assign a modifier to it...guess that's close enough :)

So I have been away from WoW for a while and have just returned to discover I no longer need a fishing pole? Nice!  And I see that my old standby, Fishing Buddy supports this... woot!

Now how do I use it? lol I keep double clicking and falling off the dock...

  • #2406

First time user of this addon, but I am not sure what I am doing wrong or maybe I misunderstand the text. I thought FB would auto cast for you after it loots a catch. If it is intended to be able to do this it is not working for me. On the Fishing Tab I do have Easy Cast enabled along with the lures enabled and on the right side I have Use Action checked. My Fishing Icon is positioned on the number 0 on the keyboard above the letters not the number pad.

  • #2407

You shouldn't need to use the "Action" feature -- it was added because of a bug in the German version of the client (I left it in just in case).

FB can no longer re-cast immediately after looting -- Blizz changed the way things work many versions ago, and they now require a "hardware event", i.e. a real mouse click or key press, before any action. Looting is an action, as well as casting, so you can't do both with one mouse click.

With the advent of the requirement for secure frames to perform in-game actions, single click fishing becomes infeasible because there is no way to "turn it off". Hence double click fishing, which currently uses a "trick" to allow a secure button to appear temporarily to cast fishing and then hides so that "regular clicking" still works.

Thanks for the response. Ok so no more action and go with it then. Got it thanks again for putting something like this together.
