About Fishing Buddy

Fishing Buddy
-------------

A fishing addon that keeps track of the fish you catch and helps manage your fishing gear.

Features:
- Double-click fishing
- Supports the new WoW "fish without a pole" feature
- Bring out your fishing pets! Drink heavily!
- 'Fish Watcher' lets you see the fish you've caught here before (or the fish that you've caught in the current session)
- Display your current skill level and the time since you started fishing
- Choose your fishing outfit and change into it easily
- Support for automatically adding a lure to your fishing pole
- Support for tracking 'cycle fish' such as the Nightfin Snapper so you know when to go looking for them

Example commands:
/fishingbuddy or /fb
toggle the display of the Fishing Buddy window
/fb help
print the list of Fishing Buddy commands
/fb switch
wear your chosen fishing outfit, or change back

Silly stuff:
In addition to displaying the fishing bonus for your fishing outfit, it also displays your 'style points' as inferred from Draznar's Fishing FAQ (http://wow.toshimo.com/viewtopic.php?t=272).

Installation
------------

1. Unzip the 'FishingBuddyVERSION.zip' file
2. If your unzip program allows you to specify a location, then unzip it into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder contained in your WoW folder (the location that WoW was installed)
3. If your unzip program doesn't let you specify the destination, then find your WoW folder (where it was installed) and drag the 'FishingBuddy' folder into the 'Interface/AddOns' folder.

    it seems like the pet summon option doesnt always trigger for fishing fun, when using a /fb switch macro.

     

    edit:

    after some testing ive found that it doesnt work when first intialized with the client. it will not kick in unless you go to the fishing fun tab. after which it starts working normally

    Ah, yes. I see that -- it's an issue with building the pet menu. It has a chance to cause serious slow downs, so I have tried to make it "friendlier". I'll see about getting it built sooner so that the pet information is initialized earlier.

    is there a way to maintain the raft between mount swaps?

    use raft>use mount (mount overrides raft buff) > dismount (FB re enables raft buff)

    awesome i was thinking this might be a bit too tricky detecting when you would actually want it. maybe checking if you have your fishing pole equiped as a flag for maintaining this?

    1.2g should let everyone *else* use the Pandaren items, just like I do :-) 

    I found a subtle bug introduced when I first wrote FB (back in 2006!) and before I had done very much Lua programming. Unfortunately it's so embedded in the way things work now that it's going to be difficult to go back and rewrite all of the dependencies (although I am looking at that).

    There may be a difference in the low-level Lua handling of booleans between Macs and PCs, between my machine and others -- I haven't nailed it down yet. I will have to write some test code and run it on all of my machines.

    Love your app... quick question:

    Does FB support auto-use of the Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm if it's in your inventory?

    If you have any of the Pandaren "fishing items" in your invetory, an option should be visible in the "Fishing Fun" option tab.

    If you have the raft in your inventory, there should be a checkbox for it on the "Fishing Fun" tab. By default, it will only cast the raft buff if you have already manually cast it yourself (i.e. it will maintain the raft). If you uncheck the "maintain only" option, it will cast the buff whenever you're fishing.
