About FishingDerby

Allows guilds to run a pool-fishing contest which will help in obtaining the "That's A Lot of Bait" achievement and the recipe that goes with it. Keeps score in a competition to see who can catch the most things from fishing pools while the contest is running. Anything caught from any pool (including things like pools of fire or wreckage) will cause the player's score to increase. Each player sees an up-to-date scoreboard.

Here's a thing to update if you want that your addon works.

It will work only till "We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat" Guild Achievement.

in fishingderby.lua find the segmented lines and paste over this:

    function FishingDerby_OnLoad()
        print("Loaded FishingDerby 1.1")
        print("Tracking \"We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat\" achievement")
        AddTrackedAchievement(5274)

When u're done with the achievement, u'll need to replace the name of the achivement and the ID of it. Simple as pie.

    Enjoy!

Please Please update this! This addon is quite unique and a lot of us need it's functionality! Awesome idea with no support makes me a sad sad panda :(

This would have been nice to use if it ACTUALLY WORKED!!! Which it does not. Needs to be updated as it is out of date. Set up to be done daily it does not record or scan for other guild members that have the addon to apply to a list for on going tracking. Appears to have only a daily use. So if I wanted to use it I would have to tell people "ok we are going to do this between x and x time only". very disappointed.

Ya the ASCII names thing is too bad it's bugged or this would've been a great guild event. Questino though... Is it just people with ASCII names can't HOST the event but they can participate? Or, are you able to use it find as long as the HOST of the event is not using ASCII names.

Well....my name was Stardúst, i was hosting the contest, and the other guy (a name without any weird characters) was fishing and wasnt getting any points. Then we tried the other way around, same problem (i was getting points, he was not)

Hmm I will have to test it out... This addon seems to have a lot of potential lol. Let's hope it gets updated!
  • #19
yea ill do the same, it works pretty good on my other chars that dont have ascii characters like ú é ê ë ...u get the idea
also on stardúst i sometimes couldnt rejoin the contest i made and some1 named "st" appeared....
  • #15
the addon doesnt work, it will only update for me, my name is "Stardúst" and it might have something to do with the "ú"

Your mod does not handle people with ASCII names very well. Characters with ASCII names cannot properly host an event because the refresh state causes an error.

That's a new one. I will check into it.

same problem, plox fix :D i love u!

Great addon! I was wondering if this would work with the further achievements "We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat" and "Like Shooting Fish In A Barrel"? Perhaps use a separate addon called "Fishing Derby II" and "Fishing Derby III" to support this? With your permission, I'd like to give this a whirl, or if you prefer, please feel free to take the lead on this.

That would be simple to do. The code number for the achievement being tracked just has to be changed to the new numbers. It would take longer to find out what the correct numbers were than to modify the code. I'll look into it.
