Fonter - The Ultimate Font Addon
Fonter allows the use of in game and custom fonts to customize your UI, Allowing you to change any in game fonts to one of your choosing.
Works for all text: Chat Text, Damage/Healing Text, Quest Text, Quest Log Text, NPC Names, Center Screen Text including Raid Warnings, Stacks, Bag Frame, Tooltips etc...
All fonts can be changed in size to suit your UI. Fonter also adds additional font sizes to the chat frame, by right clicking the title of the panel e.g. 'General' or 'Combat Log' and scrolling down to font size.
Standard Blizzard Fonts are: Arial Narrow, Friz Quadrata TT, Morpheus and Skurri. Blizzard mostly use Friz Quadrata TT.
Damage and Unit Names fonts require a logout and login in order for them to change.
The configuration menu is built into the 'Addon' menu and also has a command /fonter.
Fonter has a profile menu allowing you to change fonts and font sizes and saving them to a profile, this allows multiple font profiles for each of your characters.
You can also add custom fonts. And all fonts are automatically put into alphabetical order so no need to sort them. Instructions on how to add custom font(s) are included in 'Custom Fonts Install.txt' in the main addon directory.
When fonts are added to Fonter it also allows any other addons that can use fonts to use them as long as they use the LibSharedMedia , Such as Wim, Skada, DBM etc which dont allow custom fonts installations, And will also read fonts from other addons which use the LibSharedMedia.
Currently World of Warcraft only supports TTF fonts and not all TTF fonts support characters used by WoW.
Use these characters as a test to see if your font is compatible with WoW : []{}()ÀßÐÁéúíó^%$£"!_+=@~<>/|\;:
Damage/Healing, Raid Warnings, Unit Names and Nameplates font sizes cannot be changed due to the way blizzard have designed the frames, However you can choose/download small fonts to overcome this:
To increase or decrease a font size of a font you like please download 'Type Light' from: http://www.cr8software.net/typelight.html Its FREE :)
Open the font you wish to edit, then go to: 'Font' -> 'Metrics' -> 'EM Unit Size' and increase this number to decrease the font size or decrease this number to increase the font size. Give it a new name when you save it. Exit WoW completely add your font (Refer to the 'Custom Fonts Install.txt' in the Fonter folder) then restart WoW and select your font.
'Type Light' can also be used to convert non TTF fonts into TTF fonts by opening the font and then saving the font as TTF also be sure to select 'Convert to TT curves' from the 'Global Ops' menu before saving.
Fonter v1.6.8.6
Please uninstall older versions before installing this one.
- Updated Library's.
- Removed custom fonts LUA's, Refer to Custom Fonts Install.txt for custom fonts install.
- Changed the default profile, It now defaults to wow standard fonts and sizes.
- Added system default font and font sizes in the selection menu, This allows other addons to control fonts and sizes, Choose the blank font and font size 0 to set to default/other addon controlled.
You may find you will need to re-setup any custom fonts or sizes you previously used.
You can reset fonter at any time by typing /fonter and select profiles, then 'Copy from' and select default then type /reload. Some fonts require a relog to apply.

I dont have any names showing up anymore, i have all the names things checked in the interface tab.
Quessing this project is dead?-.-
When I turn on the plug-in, in the battle damage text, etc. is not showing.
Hello! I'm having problems with my fonter. The text on the map when you're in a zone looking at the zone, the font at top that says what part of the zone youre in is super tiny. Like 2 pixels tall, unreadable. This is with all the defaults. I fiddled with every size bar, but they're still tiny! Which slider controls it, and is it doing this for anyone else?
I honestly have no idea how to use this addon. I'm trying to use the font size sliders and nothing is happening..
Seriously someone needs to bring this or any other font replacing addon up to date, I can't stand this eye-rape the default font options give me. -> found SharedMediaAdditionalFonts which is a start :)
Does anybody know which of the font options links to the moviesubtitlefont? Apparently if you change this the new LossofControl UI font looks very bad. ->
Citing FrameXML FontStyles.xml
Then, see line 81 of Fonter.lua which edits this style as such:
So, comment out that line and it's fixed! (Thanks to Kaustos!)
(Dammit that causes an error on each login, giving up on this addon :p)
Does anyone know how to get the combat text to still show with this addon?
Here's what I did, & I can't say for sure that this is what did it, but it seems to have:
I got Fonter & Fontifier, & SharedMediaAdditionalFonts at the same time. I disabled Fontifier & used Fonter at first, but was having the no combat text problem, so I logged, disabled Fonter, & enabled Fontifier.
I don't recall whether the combat text was working, but the XP text was, & it looked terrible & I couldn't change it, so I switched back to Fonter (again, disabling Fontifier), & presto, combat text works.
Hope that helps.
I'm really having a hard time trying to follow what you said, perhaps you could rephrase it?
FYI, After implement the fix to work with MoP, my Blizzard Floating Combat Text for my damage no longer displays. It took me quite a while to pinpoint it to this Addon.
I can't even see it in the in game Interface Addons list. Nor does "/fonter" bring up the config-menu anymore. It was working fine just a few days ago with Koiranleuka's fix posted below. Really hope this Addon gets taken on again. All the other Font Addons have seemed to have been abandoned as well. REALLY miss having my own fonts. Thanks in advance if this gets fixed :).
When I have the font size turned up, which is the only reason why I got this addon, clicking interactions on the party name pannel in battlegrounds do not function correctly. I click on one person's name to target him, and instead it selects and targets another name on the panel. Once this happens it will keep on happening till I do a /reload.
I hope to find a fix for this or can someone recomend an addon that will enlarge the party name panel, because it's much easier to read and click on a specific name when it's larger- this is very important for me.
How I fixed it for 5.0.4:
I installed Fonter v1.6.8.6 and then deleted "Libs"-folder and Embeds.xml which are in Fonter's installation directory (Interface/addons/Fonter). Then I installed Ace3, Ace3GUI-3.0-SharedMediaWidgets and LibSharedMedia-3.0 so I have all needed libraries.
What issue does doing this address?
