About FreeYourResources

With patch 4.0.1, Blizzard has introduced a few new class resource mechanics. Paladins now have Holy Power, Balance Druids have their Eclipse meter, and Warlocks have their new Soul Shard mechanic. Adding these to the Death Knight rune resource and the Shaman totems means that 5 out of 10 of the classes in the game have a unique resource that requires a separate display in the UI.

And with these resources, Blizzard has done a fine job of making UI elements that display these new resources in interesting ways. But what are those of us who use entirely custom UI's to do?

Free those resources!

Hopefully this AddOn will be of some use. With configuration options available in the Interface/AddOns tab accessible from the main menu frame, this mod allows you to move and scale the Paladin Holy Power frame, the Warlock Soul Shard UI, the Death Knight Rune display, and the Balance Druid Eclipse UI. The mod also allows you to flip the resource bars vertically, so they look good when placed on top of unit frames rather than on the bottom, as in the default UI.

The latest beta version (1.1beta2) contains support for the Shaman totem bar frame and totem timers, and also allows movement of the alternate power bar. This is used in some raid encounters (Atramedes, Cho'gall) and in the Peacebloom vs. Ghouls quest line in Hillsbrad Foothills.

Please report any problems with the beta versions by submitting a ticket. Thanks.

Enjoy.

Hey there, thanks for the addon. It does exactly what I needed it to...put the druid eclipse UI where I can see it without needing to divert my attention to a side of the screen.

Feature request: I'd like to be able to adjust the opacity. Also maybe change the style of the graphics to something more elaborate or fun.

Okay, latest beta (for some reason the packager isn't running, so it may be a while before it's up) contains support for Shamans, both the timer buttons and the totem action bar. Please post a ticket on wowace if something isn't working right. Enjoy.

I've been using an addon called aTotemBar for totems, which is why I haven't done them for this addon. It should be fairly straightforward to do that though, so I'll try to get around to it.

    Thanks! :D

I actually implemented preliminary support for this in the latest alpha release that you can get from wowace. It's not as pretty as the others, since the totem bar is more complex than the other resource systems, but it should work and be fairly obvious how to move it and such.

Could you try it out and see if it's working okay for you?
  • #5
Sure! I'll do that today and let you know how it works.

Ahhh I think I miscommunicated. I didn't mean the totem bar itself. When you put a totem down it puts little circles for each totem under the default player frame. Those have the time left on the totem, but also let you cancel totems individually by right clicking on them.

The totem bar itself will only recast totems or use totemic recall. You can't cancel individual totems that way. Or at least I haven't figured out a way to to it. :/

Okay, try the new alpha. They seem to work. The totem casting bar still needs some work though, so I'm not committing this change as a release just yet.

Ahh, okay, I see what you're saying.

I'll have a look at the Blizzard code and see what I can do. I think I still like having the totem bar that I did. But maybe I can add the other indicators as well.

I was able to play around with it a bit this morning. Taking a break from the 80+ stuff. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. I saw that you added the totem timers in as well. :D

I like that you have it so you can hide the durations. I haven't decided yet whether to hid them and use omnicc with them or to show em. I'll try em both out. So far I've not come across any errors. I'll let you know if I do.

I'm all for totem bar being added as well. One less add-on I have to install. :D

If I have time to get on my shaman today, I'll take a look at it.

Cool, let me know how it goes. Works fine for me so far on my Dwarf shaman.

I was also able to clean up how I take control of the totem bar so it behaves nicely now.

Is there a possibility that you will add the functionality to do this for the Shaman totem timers as well?

Done, for a while now. :)
