About FriendsMonitor

Due to RealID being anounced I kinda expected this addon to be useless so stopped developement but as RealID clearly didn't meet my expectations and you can only use it for people you trust (also no features to control who sees what toons) I am going to be redevelopeing this once I have released my current project WorldExplorer V2 I will start this again.
So now is an ideal time to give me any ideas you have for what FriendsMonitor should do... Maybe interface ideas and what data should be collected/displayed etc... I already have my own ideas and have created tickets for them here. If you have ideas PLEASE create a ticket so it doesn't get lost or forgotten about! More info you give the better! If you have examples then include screenshots or EVEN drawings in paint! I promise I won't laugh! ;-)
What it does:
- First it keep your friends list in sync between your characters. For example if you add a friend on one character and then logon on using an alt it will add them to that character aswell.
- It also keeps your friends notes in sync between characters!
- Next it talks to your friends and shares your other characters with them by adding them to their friends list with a comment saying they are your characters (so when you come online with them they know who you are!)
WOW it surprises me how much work has gone into this and how few things are on the list of what it does! :-| LOL
I have been working on this for quite a while as it was bugging me when my friends and family created new characters and didn't tell me so when they came online with the new characters I wouldn't know. SO I created FriendsMonitor to fix this! :-)
This is very much in early development and only has a fraction of the features I intend to add BUT it does now have the basic features mentioned here and it does work for me, my friends and family. Currently there are not many options but they are not really needed yet.
Anyway as I said there is LOADS of stuff I want to add so I have created a separate ticket (on CurseForge.com for each change/improvement that I would like to implement in the future and I would be greatfull to recieve any extra suggestions or comments on the existing surgestions or comments. Please feel free to vote on them and add any extra you think I have missed or would be good for the addon.
Again if you have a suggestion or bug then please by all means post a comment below but also PLEASE add a ticket.
That way it will help me keep track of stuff I need to do. Also it will allow other people to vote on them, for example with bugs, people can say that this bug is more important that the other one or that they want/don’t want certain functionality someone has requested. Finally it keeps all the comments together for each bug or new functionality AND people can subscribe to each ticket individually to tell you when something has been fixed!
To add a ticket this go to http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/friendsmonitor/ (curseforge is the developers side of curse) then login with your curse.com account info and open a ticket. Please remember to specify if it is a bug or new functionality etc...

- Changed debugging to limit the max size of the array as it can easily hit the max size of an array! :-|
- Changed debugging so it can be togged on or off from ingame
- Disabled debugging by default
- Corrected some spelling mistakes (Dyslexia rules K O ... ;-))
- Added a UI config frame to the Blizzard Interface Frame. Use "/FM" and "Options", "Settings", "Menu", "config" or "Setup" to open (See Ticket: 1 - Add User Interface (for options etc…))
- Added the library LibSimpleOptions-1.0 to help with this

how do u use addons for mac... i downloaded them and moved them to the addon file but it doesnt work on my account... plz help me
Although I would LOVE to be able to afford a Mac allas I can't so I am stuck with a PC.
As far as I know addon's for the Mac work the same as for the PC and I know for a fact that the Curse Client works on the Mac (although not sure how much energy they throw at it) so I surgest you download and install that to let it deal with your addons: http://www.curse.com/client
WoW addons are not written for a specific Operating system they are written for WoW so if it works on the PC it should (AFAIK) work on the Mac therefore if one addon works on your mac mine should! :)
Try the curse client first as its SOO easy! Then IF it fails try these instructions: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/faq.php?faq=install
Finally FriendsMonitor is a touch out of date I'm afraid (I have loads I want to do but am working of AFKWarning and WorldExplorer currently and no time :(
BUT it DOES still work as I have a few mates and my GF that use it so feel free to try it and post any issues/surgestions here: http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/friendsmonitor/tickets/ as a new ticket IF one doesn't already exist if it does then comment on it and vote it up!

I just haven't had time that real life thing keeps catching up and also I have to many AddOn's I make. Currently WorldExplorer (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/worldexplorer.aspx) is my main focus to get it ready for Cata but once V2 of WorldExplorer is released I will tidy up any other AddOns cata breaks and then get onto this one. ;)

I know there are already loads there and they will ALL be looked at! Please have a read though them to ensure your idea/bug isn't already there and if not post a ticket with as much info as you can. :-)

I started of by logging on my main and config FriendsMonitor then log on all of my alts to get an update of my friend lists =)
But when I got back to my main a message told me that "he" have been removed from your friend list because he been removed in the friendMonitor DB on another character:S
and this happened whit about 40 of my friends on the list :S
What did I do wrong and is there a way of getting them back whiteout adding them manually one by one?
Lets see if we can work out what has happend first...
Do you have any other friend list addons running? This can cause a conflict where they end up deleting your friends list.
If your not sure send me a list of your addons? If your sure you don't have anything you think COULD be a conflict then have you played on more than one PC? This cause problems with different list stored on different PCs. IF you have only run on one PC and only just installed FriendsMonitor then there could be a problem with the code! :-O You can get your friends back though:
- Exit WoW
- Find the WTF folder in the World of Warcraft instalation folder (this is normally "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\" on windows xp but Vista and 7 may have moved it so you could try searching for it.
- Inside that folder:
- Open the Account folder
- Open the folder named after your account name
- Open the folder called "SavedVariables"
- Find the file called "FriendsMonitor.lua" and open in a text editor (notepad is fine)
- Use find and replace CTRL + H in notepad:
- In the "Find what:" box put: ["CurrentState"] = "Removed",
- In the "Replace with:" box put: ["CurrentState"] = "Friend",
- Click the "Replace All" button
- Save the file and exit the editor.
- Reload WoW login to your character and make sure the friends montior addon is running
It SHOULD automaticly add ALL your friends it removed back in. :-)
If you have any more trouble open a ticket on curseforge (as I don't come here as often as I would like and it will send me an email from curseforge!) :-)

Yea, I noticed that my list were backuped :)
no I don't have another addon like that but after reinstalling it today I got it working and all my friends are now shown on all my alts :)

just add an extra page to the friends menü, and whenever you flip pages the addon removes all page1 friends from the "official list" and sets all friends of page 2 to be your friends.
just an idea
