About Gatherer

Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.

The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.

When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.

Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.

Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.

I'm having an issue, it's driving me apeshit.
I've been out of wow for a few mouths, last I played I was I was able to make to show me an ant trail and way-points from node to node, after I'd discovered the node. I LOVED this feature, and I can't figure out how to turn it on.
I know it's probably me, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Please help.. I'm going crazy here. :(

    database dissapeared

Hi, any reason why after updating my old database is gone, and so thousands of gathers??

  • #3854

I don't know if it's a localization (French client) or a general bug, but since 5.2 Gatherer stopped tracking archeo nodes.

I still have those collected prior to 5.2, but Gatherer doesn't save gathering anymore. It's ok with me for mantid's ones, but even Pandaren and Mogu ones are not saved anymore.

NB : didn"t test with older spots like fossils.

i love this addon. but have u ever think about add fish pools? that would be great too :o

  • #3850

thx for the update and i agree 2 days is nothing.

I got a question / problem that i think is caused by gatherer, not 100% sure but I believe it's gatherer's fault. When i am flying around and i change zone, or the name of the area changes, while i am checking some other zone in the map, it resets me back to the the zone i currently am at.

For example i am auto flying from orgrimmar straight south, and i am checking in map badlands. Moment i exit orgrimmar or fly into a differently named area in durotar, it brings the map back to durotar.

    Anybody else has this?

  • #3851

    Default UI behavior.
(Note however that under most circumstances changing Sub-zones. [Razor Hill to Senjin Village for example] should not cause this to happen, only when the map itself has to change [like entering the Valley of Trials which now has its own zone map].)

    Thanks for the zone updates!

For those concerned about the amount of time it took, 2 days isn't that unusual. I still have 16 addons that haven't updated for 5.2 yet, while only 7 addons have been updated. That's about par for the course this soon after a patch. Keeping in mind that most addons are run by people who volunteer their time, it's best to be patient. IMO of course.

The "Gatherer Warning" is annoying. Having read other comments  (and responses) I understand why the update may take a while... though other add-ons seemed to have anticipated the arrival of the patch. Whatever, the constant nagging, reminding me to do something YOU HAVEN'T MADE AVAILABLE is a pain. Why can't you turn it off, or at least give us the option to disable it.

Being a great add-on (which Gatherer is) and being open sourced (which it also is) doesn't award a pass on annoying programming.

very very dissapointed with this addon...i have used it for years with no problem....its will not work with pandaria. i used it on snow leopard, with no results..i just updated to mountain lion today and it still will not work!....i have uninstalled with curse, through my main wow addon folder..deleted from the trash can, restarted the mac..when i do an install,it will not do a clean still gives me what i had before! my son is using lion and has never had any problem with this working..we have exactly the same addons installed. i unchecked all my addons and only ran gatherer and it still did not work!

i can see stuff on my mini map as a hud overlay which i dont want....there are no icons on my mini map and none on my main map..this is very frustrating!

i installed nodes from my sons account but he only gave me 300 odd out of his thousands he has, that didnt work...i used the database from wowhead..and nothing! i have thousands of nodes in my list...they just wont show up anywhere :(

so frustrated that i have to stop using an addon that i have used for years, especially when my sons is working fine. and yes it has been updated to the latest release :(

Also, be sure to click the "Addons" button at the Character Selection screen. Then check the box that says "Load out-of-date addons". This will allow addons to run, even if they haven't been updated to match the current patch number yet.

  • #3845

Working fine for me on ML. Hope you sort it out.

  • #3844

Sometimes addons get contaminated for many and any reason.  What I've done is remove ALL things related with addon.  You need to remove ALLLLLLL from your saved variables main folder and on EVERY toon in your WTF folder along with the interface folder.  Run a search in your WOW folder and delete them all.   I'm on a PC so you need to delete all gatherer related from you system, try it with a fresh clean install.

I only use the Gatherer portion of the addon, no !swatter no gatherer hud no slidebar.    I've never used them and do not have any issues except that with the new content that window pops every log in with no way to stop it and as of yet no upgrade but that will happen in time.

Everytime I log in to any toon a large window opens saying I need to up-date, yet there isn't one.
