About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.
For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/
Gatherer DB WoWHead - A database of node locations provided by http://www.wowhead.com/
INSTALLATION
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.
USAGE
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.
Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality /gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality /gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards) /gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50) /gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap") /gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap") /gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap") /gather options - show the configuration dialog

Nick123321,
OSX will automatically decompress when you download, but you need to grab Gatherer, GathererHUD, SlideBar, and Swatter from that main downloaded directory, and move the four files to ..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk
Ever since I updated to 3.2.4, in-game it keeps telling me Gatherer is out of date. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, reloaded, and I can't get it to work anymore. What gives?
Ereian,
As noted in a couple responses, you can either use the Beta from our main site, place a checkmark in the "Load out of date" checkbox in the main WoW AddOns Control Panel, or update the TOC file manually in each of the AddOns, but that is no fun.
The easiest thing is to select the option to 'Load Out of Date'.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk
Something I've been wondering for a long time: How do I use Gatherer to track Archaeology digsites? Where are the options settings for it?
I've noticed since pretty soon after the releae of Cata, a year ago at least, then when any of my toons digs up archaeology fragments I see the message in the chat frame "Added gather of Archaeology find." "Sent gather of Archaeology find to guild." But I've never seen any option anywhere in the settings to display archaeology digsites the way it displays herbs/mineral nodes, or anything else about them whatsoever.
At first I assumed it was something that was still under development--that it was recording archaeology locations already but I'd have to wait for a later update to introduce features where I could actually use that info in any way.
I've procrastinated on asking about this for almost a year until just this week when I was reading stuff on Wowhead and somebody mentioned in a comment about the symbols on their map that show the archaeogoly find locations from Gatherer (yes they did mention this addon by name). That must mean that the archaeolgy settings already exist... but where are they? How do I turn them on?
Currently I keep a hand-drawn map at my computer desk where I mark all dig-site areas I ever see, and draw a little symbol of what race-type each area contains, so that when I'm searching for fragments of a specific type (such as Fossils for the DarkmoonFaire quest), I can look at my word map to see what areas are active then check my hand-made map to see what race they are, so I can choose where to fly to. Being able to see that info in-game would be so much easier, especially when there are areas I've not previously found but that my guildmates have (since it reports to me when a guildie digs up fragments too)!
PixelPaladin,
The sites are tracked in the version here, that was as a first step to allowing their full use. Unfortunately the main developer has had other r/l issues which required their attention, so Gatherer has sort of been in limbo.
All that said, we have been trying to do some updates, so please try out the beta built 11May2012 3.3.xx from our main site http://gathereraddon.com/dl/Gatherer/ . That includes all sorts of things, like the more recent gatherables, Archaeology goodies, and more.
As this is a beta/gamma - first, close completely out of WoW and make a backup of:
..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns
..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWowAccountName>\SavedVariables
Then, just download the zip, uncompress, and move the four resultant files, Gatherer, GathererHUD, SlideBar, and Swatter to ..\WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns .
Please let us know if you see any issues.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk
I have some problems with this addo and same with routes
every time when i enter i get an error
Thanks for replying. I guess I was misinterpereting or misremembering what someone else said on wowhead. The way you described it (being in "limbo") is exactly how I thought it was for so long, so I guess I was right.
But I don't think I'd want to try using that Beta version unless I could manage it via Curse Client like I do with all my other addons; otherwise I'd most likely forget that I have it installed separately and that would cause problems when I try to update or troubleshoot, etc. For now I'll just keep the one I have, and maybe get a different addon for tracking archeology (maybe the one that freddyih93 mentioned here).
get an addon called archy:)
Hallo
yo, can somebody please tell me how to install this addon? iread the installation where it says something about extracting. I don't know what that mean so if someone can please explain to a noob like me how to install this addon i would greatly appreaceate it.
Waterfallus,
You can check out http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/Installing - that uses our other AddOn as the example, but the steps are the same for any AddOn.
You can also use the CurseClient, free of charge, that will uncompress and place the files in the appropriate location(s). See in the upper right, where it says 'install with the Curse Client', which will lead you to install the client and you can then install/update any and all AddOns you like.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk
Is there a plan to update it with other treasure chests I loot silken treasure chests all the time and they do not show up. I checked the config and it is not there.
SargonStarblade,
Sorry, thought we had replied to your post, check out the reply regarding the beta/preview, just above. That includes all node types, Archaeological sites, et cetera.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk
I'd like to see gatherer update nodes as they sometimes move around within a tiny radius of their location. Rather than having 2 or more nodes in the same 3,3 area, have gatherer update the node's location each time, so it keeps an accurate count of times looted, and a cleaner map of node locations.
It would be easy I imagine, using a pair of data: First Seen @ x,y and Last Seen @ x,y where Last Seen must be within a specific radius of First Seen.
This does sound like a good idea, at least in cases where multiple nodes are recorded really close to each other (like less than 1 coordinate point apart). The only real exception would have to be when there's more than 1 different type of node that have spawned at different times in the same spot. Which I think is exactly how rare/uncommon mineral nodes work (silver, gold, khorium, titanium, etc)
