About Give Me Peace
Give Me Peace
Released 9th December 2011
Are you tired of the constant spam whispered to you from Gold sellers, Scammers, and other random whispers such as boost requests?
This addon is designed to block ALL whispers sent to your character who are not first authorised by you and silenty whisper the blocked player informing them that their whisper was hidden from you and ignored. Note that GM whispers are automatically authorised.
On loading of your character both your friends and guild list are scanned and automatically authorised by the addon and any whispers from those players will be shown as normal unless you manually add a player from your friends or guild list to the built in ignore feature.
Why did I write this?
Give Me Peace is an addon which I designed and programmed because of a few hours of constant whisper spam caused by a level 1 standing in Stormwind shouting "LFM For The Alliance, whisper Afterlife for invite".
Features Include:
•Auto scan friends/guild on login, and when a guild member joins.
•Auto authorise those you whisper first - i.e. when you whisper someone to join a raid or party.
•Inform the blocked player that his whisper was ignored and not visible by you and telling him if he feels he shouldnt be blocked to send you a in-game mail.
•Customise the whisper sent to the blocked player.
•Add/Delete or Ignore players manually - remember that all who are not authorised are ignored automatically, the ignore option is to override a friend or guild member who was scanned and authorised on login.
•Auto allow GM whispers.
•Log all blocked messages for the current session which can be viewed by typing /peace blocked
The default message sent to a player who is not on your authorised list reads:
"Important: Your whisper was rejected and hidden from <your name> because you are not on <your name>'s list of authorised friends. If you feel you should be on <your name>'s list then please send an in-game mail."
This default message is stored in the local.lua file and can be translated to your native language. If you translate this file please find the time to send it to me by private message and i'll include it in the release.
For options use /peace in-game. For quick switching ON/OFF of the addon you can use /peace toggle from the chat or inside a macro on your spell bar.
I hope you enjoy the use of this addon and the peace it brings with it. Please feel free to provide any feedback or offer suggestions.
Take care.

Please Note:
Ive updated it to 4.3 as promised but I wont be releasing anymore updates for this addon (Give Me Peace) therefore if anyone wants to take this over then I'm more than happy to pass it over to you.
I need to dedicate any time I have to Afterlife Crowd Control and Natur Enemy Castbar.
Sorry, been a while I agree but I'm back now and most of the work went into Afterlife Crowd Control and presently Natur Enemy Castbar, those two were the most popular and most used so priority was given to them.
As soon as the above is fixed then this will be given attention
I am returning to WoW after a few months off and I saw this addon here. I read the info about it but I am wondering about something. It says that on login it scans your friend list and guild members and adds them to the allow list. What I am wondering though is - do you mean when "I log in" it does this or when "they log in"? What I am getting to is - if I log in to the game in the morning and there are only 2 friends on and 4 guild members they are added but what if I had been logged in for several hours and now there are 30+ guild members on? Do I need to log out and back in again to update the allow list or is the guild member list updated when THEY log in?

Thanks
My friend didnt have the addon, and i did, when i put him on ignore the addon just spammed him with the message a couple of times, when its only supposed to do it once.
Im glad your going to be updating such a great addon tho =)
1) You whisper your friend who has you on ignore block.
2) Your friend whispers you with the "you are blocked" message.
3) You send out a "you are blocked" message back to your friend since your friend is also on block.
4) Your friend sends out a "you are blocked" message because obviously your still trying to whisper with the blocked message when hes got you on block.
see what i mean? =p
In the options you will find "Silently whisper blocked players." which tells the addon to send a whisper to the player who is not authorised and informing them that their message was blocked and to send you a mail if its important.
You have highlighted a glitch when two people use the same addon therefore I'll stick in a check to only whisper the blocked message to the same player within a 10 minute period to stop the vicious circle of spam.
Thanks for the info.
