About Gladius

What is Gladius?

Gladius adds enemy unit frames to arenas for easier targeting and focusing. It is highly configurable and you can disable most features of this addon.

Modules

  • Uses the 3.0 Arena Unit IDs, this enables full functionality even if the enemy is seen first while in combat.
  • General arena unit frame features:
    • HP bar + Text
    • Mana bar + Text
    • Cast bar + Text
    • Class icon
  • PvP trinket status:
    • Five display options:
      • Name icon.
      • Name text.
      • Big icon (big, scalable icon to the right).
      • Small icon (small icon to the right on top of the mana bar).
      • Grid-style icon (colored square to the right on top of the mana bar that turns red when the trinket has been used).
  • Target of Target - displays a class icon representing the enemy's target.
    • You can click on the icon to target your enemy's target or use mouseover macros.
  • Announcements
    • New enemy announcement - announces new enemies.
    • Trinket announcement - announces when the trinket is used/is ready again.
    • Drinking announecment.
    • Enemies on low health - announces enemies that are about to die, you can set the percentage yourself.
    • Aura announcement - announces aura used.
    • Cooldown announcement - announces cooldown used.
  • Auras - shows important buffs and debuffs on the arena enemies.
    • You can add/delete/edit auras via the configuration screen.
  • Cooldown Tracker - shows enemy cooldowns
    • You can enable/disable single cooldowns or entire classes, set an announce type or sound on cooldown used.
  • DR Tracker - shows diminishing returns on the arena enemies.
    • You can enable/disable single diminishing returns types or show/hide the diminishing returns value.
  • Click actions - you can select what is going to happen when you click on a Gladius button.
    • Ten editable click actions.
    • Three modifiers: SHIFT, CTRL and ALT.
    • Four different action types: Target, Focus, Cast Spell and Macro.

Slash commands

  • /gladius ui/config/options - displays the configuration screen.
  • /gladius test1-5 - shows a test frame with the chosen amount of test units.
  • /gladius hide - hides the test frame.
  • /gladius trinket - simulates a trinket being used for the first arena target.

Macros

Macros are meant for the more advanced users, since you'd need to use "*unit" (short for the UnitID of the enemy) for a macro to work. To cast Polymorph on the enemy and print out the name of the enemy in the party chat you would have to do:

/cast [target=*unit] Polymorph

/script SendChatMessage(UnitName("*unit"), "PARTY")

FAQ

Will you ever have Gladius function in a non-arena environment?

- No, Gladius is meant for arenas only and it'll stay that way.

Can I hide that annoying header ("Gladius - drag to move")?

- Yes, simply lock the Gladius frame.

    Love Gladius, but have been having a consistent issue lately with it. I have reinstalled the add-on a couple times now to try to fix it. the issue is that when I go into an arena, the background(shaded part) appears separate and slightly off set from the actual player frames. I am not able to click on the person through Gladius. I have been clicking by their class icon, their name, everywhere and occasionally it will select them. but it is really hard to do so. this happens about 85 % of the time. I use Diminishing returns also, could that be causing the issues with the DR timer being attached? Thanks

    I also use diminishing returns, and this is happening to me. Only on one character though, my other character has the same addon setup and for some reason is fine.

    I have many disconnects in arena with gladius.
    A lot of people have the self the problem with disconnects,
    now they play without gladius and have all no problems anymore.

    Why doesn't it show up in arenas ???I configure it all as I wanted... but in arenas I don't get anything...just the gray window where is should show up the enemys. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong ? Thanks.

    I am having a problem with the announcements It will announce to party chat but when selecting to announce as a raid warning nothing happens and this occurs even if i am party leader any help is appreciated.

    Aloha,
    it would be totally awesome if you could add (optional) additional frames for your arena partners which work exactly like the frames of your opponents (with own click-commands, e.g. right click on partner-frame = dispel). This would make some interface add-ons unnecessary and I would love you for doing this.

    Hey there,

    I just downloaded this version and it seems to be working fine. The only problem is that I can't click on the portraits so switch characters, I have to use the built in ones on the right that blizzard uses. Is there going to be a fix/patch for this so that I can use gladius UI to switch between enemy players, as it will be much more easier and convenient. thanks!

    hi, since last patch the following problem occurred:

    in the past it was no problem to bind keys for every enemy, for example

    F1 = Leftklick Enemy 1
    F2 = Leftklick Enemy 2
    F3 = Leftklick Enemy 3

    targeting with these keys worked fine.
    ------------------------------------------

    the problem now is, it´s not possible to choose enemy 2 or 3, neither with hotkeys or leftklick direct into the gladius frame.


    but in battle following happens:

    enemy 2 for example is a mage. if the mage now cast his water elemental, then it´s possible to targeting this pet via hotkey F2.

    anyone an idea to solve this keybinding-problem?

    there are no conflicts with other addons, i disabled all except gladius.

    it's not showing up in arenas. I can configure it fully, move it around, /gladius test#, get it to work with clique, etc.

    hi, I seem to have a problem with this addon: it's not showing up in arenas. I can configure it fully, move it around, /gladius test#, get it to work with clique, etc.

    however, the main functionality: arena enemy unitframes UI isn't showing up. Is there an option i got to check/uncheck? something else I might've accidentally done? mod it doesn't work with? or something else entirely?

    any help would be appreciated. love this mod and would really like to continue using it.

    p.s. last time i used it (as in last time i went into arenas) it worked, which was about 5 months ago. if that matters at all. nothing was changed, only updated all my addons to current via curse client and wowinterface.
